Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments!1 Hallelujah! Happy are those who fear the LORD, who greatly delight in God's commands.
His descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.2 Their descendants shall be mighty in the land, generation upright and blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house; and his righteousness endures for ever.3 Wealth and riches shall be in their homes; their prosperity shall endure forever.
Light rises in the darkness for the upright; the LORD is gracious, merciful, and righteous.4 They shine through the darkness, a light for the upright; they are gracious, merciful, and just.
It is well with the man who deals generously and lends, who conducts his affairs with justice.5 All goes well for those gracious in lending, who conduct their affairs with justice.
For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered for ever.6 They shall never be shaken; the just shall be remembered forever.
He is not afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.7 They shall not fear an ill report; their hearts are steadfast, trusting the LORD.
His heart is steady, he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire on his adversaries.8 Their hearts are tranquil, without fear, till at last they look down on their foes.
He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever; his horn is exalted in honor.9 Lavishly they give to the poor; their prosperity shall endure forever; their horn shall be exalted in honor.
The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked man comes to nought.10 The wicked shall be angry to see this; they will gnash their teeth and waste away; the desires of the wicked come to nothing.
