1 "At this also my heart trembles, and leaps out of its place.	1 « Per questo il mio cuore tremò e balzò fuori dal suo posto.
2 Hearken to the thunder of his voice and the rumbling that comes from his mouth.	2 Udite, udite tra lo spavento la sua voce, e il rombo che vien fuori dalla sua bocca!
3 Under the whole heaven he lets it go, and his lightning to the corners of the earth.	3 Egli gira il suo sguardo sotto tutti i cieli, e la sua luce va fino all'estremità della terra.
4 After it his voice roars; he thunders with his majestic voice and he does not restrain the lightnings when his voice is heard.	4 Dietro di lui rugge il suono, egli tuona colla voce della sua grandezza; e udita la sua voce, non si potrà seguirne la traccia.
5 God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things which we cannot comprehend.	5 Dio tonerà mirabilmente colla sua voce. Egli fa grandi e imperscrutabili cose.
6 For to the snow he says, 'Fall on the earth'; and to the shower and the rain, 'Be strong.'	6 Egli comanda alla neve di cadere sulla terra, alle piogge invernali, alle impetuose procelle.
7 He seals up the hand of every man, that all men may know his work.	7 Egli mette un sigillo sulla mano d'ogni uomo, affinchè ciascuno conosca le sue opere.
8 Then the beasts go into their lairs, and remain in their dens.	8 La fiera si ritira nella sua tana, e sta ferma nel suo covile.
9 From its chamber comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds.	9 La tempesta esce dai recessi, il freddo dal settentrione.
10 By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen fast.	10 Al soffio di Dio il ghiaccio s'indurisce, e di nuovo si sciolgono in abbondanza le nevi,
11 He loads the thick cloud with moisture; the clouds scatter his lightning.	11 il frumento brama le nuvole, e le nuvole spandono la loro luce.
12 They turn round and round by his guidance, to accomplish all that he commands them on the face of the habitable world.	12 ESse vanno errando all'intorno, dovunque le guidi il volere di Colui che le governa, per eseguire i suoi ordini sulla superficie della terra,
13 Whether for correction, or for his land, or for love, he causes it to happen.	13 sia in una tribù, sia nella sua terra, sia in qualche altro luogo in cui la sua misericordia avrà loro ordinato di trovarsi.
14 "Hear this, O Job; stop and consider the wondrous works of God.	14 Ascolta, o Giobbe, queste cose, fermati a considerare le maraviglie di Dio.
15 Do you know how God lays his command upon them, and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine?	15 Sai forse quando Dio abbia comandato alle piogge di far apparire la luce delle sue nuvole?
16 Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge,	16 Hai tu conosciute le grandi vie delle nubi e le scienze perfette?
17 you whose garments are hot when the earth is still because of the south wind?	17 Non sono forse calde le tue vesti quando l'austro soffia sopra la terra?
18 Can you, like him, spread out the skies, hard as a molten mirror?	18 Hai forse con lui fabbricati i cieli, che sono saldissimi come se fossero gettati in bronzo?
19 Teach us what we shall say to him; we cannot draw up our case because of darkness.	19 Insegnaci quello che potremo dirgli, giacché noi siamo involti nelle tenebre.
20 Shall it be told him that I would speak? Did a man ever wish that he would be swallowed up?	20 Chi gli racconterà quello che dico io? Se un uomo ardirà parlargli, resterà annientato.
21 "And now men cannot look on the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them.	21 Ma ora gli uomini non vedono la luce; l'aria all'improvviso s'addensa di nubi: il vento che passa le dissiperà.
22 Out of the north comes golden splendor; God is clothed with terrible majesty.	22 L'oro viene dal settentrione, e a Dio si rende lode con timore.
23 The Almighty--we cannot find him; he is great in power and justice, and abundant righteousness he will not violate.	23 Noi non possiamo degnamente arrivare a lui. Egli è grande nella potenza, nel giudizio e nella giustizia, ed è ineffabile.
24 Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit."	24 Per questo gli uomini lo temeranno, e nessuno di quelli che si credono saggi ardirà contemplarlo ».
