Job 37

1 "At this also my heart trembles, and leaps out of its place.	1 Per questo trepida il mio cuore e mi balza fuori dal petto.
2 Hearken to the thunder of his voice and the rumbling that comes from his mouth.	2 Attenzione, udite il fragore della sua voce e lo strepito che sale dalla sua bocca!
3 Under the whole heaven he lets it go, and his lightning to the corners of the earth.	3 Egli lascia vagare sotto tutto il cielo il suo lampo, che giunge fino all'estremità della terra.
4 After it his voice roars; he thunders with his majestic voice and he does not restrain the lightnings when his voice is heard.	4 Dietro di esso muggisce il tuono e rimbomba con voce profonda; nulla trattiene i lampi, quando si è udita la sua voce.
5 God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things which we cannot comprehend.	5 Dio tuona con voce maestosa e compie prodigi che non comprendiamo.
6 For to the snow he says, 'Fall on the earth'; and to the shower and the rain, 'Be strong.'	6 Dice infatti alla neve: "Cadi sulla terra"; e alle piogge dirotte: "Siate violente!".
7 He seals up the hand of every man, that all men may know his work.	7 Sulla mano di ognuno pone un sigillo, perché tutti riconoscano la sua opera.
8 Then the beasts go into their lairs, and remain in their dens.	8 Le fiere rientrano nelle loro tane, si accovacciano nei loro nascondigli.
9 From its chamber comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds.	9 Dal meridione prorompe la tempesta e dal settentrione il freddo.
10 By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen fast.	10 Al soffio di Dio si forma il ghiaccio e la distesa delle acque si congela.
11 He loads the thick cloud with moisture; the clouds scatter his lightning.	11 Carica di umidità le nuvole e le nubi ne diffondono le folgori.
12 They turn round and round by his guidance, to accomplish all that he commands them on the face of the habitable world.	12 Egli le fa vagare dappertutto secondo i suoi consigli, perché compiano quanto comanda loro su tutto l'universo.
13 Whether for correction, or for his land, or for love, he causes it to happen.	13 Le manda o per castigo della terra o in segno di bontà.
14 "Hear this, O Job; stop and consider the wondrous works of God.	14 Presta l'orecchio a questo, Giobbe, soffèrmati e considera le meraviglie di Dio!
15 Do you know how God lays his command upon them, and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine?	15 Sai tu come Dio allinea le nubi e come esse producono il lampo?
16 Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge,	16 Sai tu come la nube si libri nell'aria, meraviglia della consumata sapienza,
17 you whose garments are hot when the earth is still because of the south wind?	17 tu che hai le vesti calde, quando la terra langue per lo scirocco?
18 Can you, like him, spread out the skies, hard as a molten mirror?	18 Hai tu forse disteso con lui il firmamento, duro come lo specchio di metallo fuso?
19 Teach us what we shall say to him; we cannot draw up our case because of darkness.	19 Facci sapere cosa dovremmo dirgli, noi non abbiamo parola a causa delle tenebre.
20 Shall it be told him that I would speak? Did a man ever wish that he would be swallowed up?	20 Si dovrà informarlo di ciò che dico? C'è qualcuno che desidera essere annientato?
21 "And now men cannot look on the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them.	21 Ed ecco, non si vede più la luce, è oscurata dalle nubi, ma tira il vento e le spazza via.
22 Out of the north comes golden splendor; God is clothed with terrible majesty.	22 Dal settentrione giungono splendori dorati; Dio si circonda di tremenda maestà.
23 The Almighty--we cannot find him; he is great in power and justice, and abundant righteousness he will not violate.	23 E' l'Onnipotente che noi non sappiamo raggiungere, sublime in potenza e rettitudine, grande per giustizia; egli non opprime.
24 Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit."	24 Per questo gli uomini lo temono; ma egli non tiene conto di coloro che si credono sapienti".
