Job 37

1 "At this also my heart trembles, and leaps out of its place.	1 Per questo mi batte forte il cuore e mi balza fuori dal petto.
2 Hearken to the thunder of his voice and the rumbling that comes from his mouth.	2 Udite, udite, il rumore della sua voce, il fragore che esce dalla sua bocca.
3 Under the whole heaven he lets it go, and his lightning to the corners of the earth.	3 Il lampo si diffonde sotto tutto il cielo e il suo bagliore giunge ai lembi della terra;
4 After it his voice roars; he thunders with his majestic voice and he does not restrain the lightnings when his voice is heard.	4 dietro di esso brontola il tuono, mugghia con il suo fragore maestoso e nulla arresta i fulmini, da quando si è udita la sua voce;
5 God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things which we cannot comprehend.	5 mirabilmente tuona Dio con la sua voce opera meraviglie che non comprendiamo!
6 For to the snow he says, 'Fall on the earth'; and to the shower and the rain, 'Be strong.'	6 Egli infatti dice alla neve: "Cadi sulla terra" e alle piogge dirotte: "Siate violente".
7 He seals up the hand of every man, that all men may know his work.	7 Rinchiude ogni uomo in casa sotto sigillo, perché tutti riconoscano la sua opera.
8 Then the beasts go into their lairs, and remain in their dens.	8 Le fiere si ritirano nei loro ripari e nelle loro tane si accovacciano.
9 From its chamber comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds.	9 Dal mezzogiorno avanza l'uragano e il freddo dal settentrione.
10 By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen fast.	10 Al soffio di Dio si forma il ghiaccio e la distesa dell'acqua si congela.
11 He loads the thick cloud with moisture; the clouds scatter his lightning.	11 Carica di umidità le nuvole e le nubi ne diffondono le folgori.
12 They turn round and round by his guidance, to accomplish all that he commands them on the face of the habitable world.	12 Egli le fa vagare dappertutto secondo i suoi ordini, perché eseguiscano quanto comanda loro sul mondo intero.
13 Whether for correction, or for his land, or for love, he causes it to happen.	13 Le manda o per castigo della terra o in segno di bontà.
14 "Hear this, O Job; stop and consider the wondrous works of God.	14 Porgi l'orecchio a questo, Giobbe, soffèrmati e considera le meraviglie di Dio.
15 Do you know how God lays his command upon them, and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine?	15 Sai tu come Dio le diriga e come la sua nube produca il lampo?
16 Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge,	16 Conosci tu come la nube si libri in aria, i prodigi di colui che tutto sa?
17 you whose garments are hot when the earth is still because of the south wind?	17 Come le tue vesti siano calde quando non soffia l'austro e la terra riposa?
18 Can you, like him, spread out the skies, hard as a molten mirror?	18 Hai tu forse disteso con lui il firmamento, solido come specchio di metallo fuso?
19 Teach us what we shall say to him; we cannot draw up our case because of darkness.	19 Insegnaci che cosa dobbiamo dirgli. Noi non parleremo per l'oscurità.
20 Shall it be told him that I would speak? Did a man ever wish that he would be swallowed up?	20 Gli si può forse ordinare: "Parlerò io?". O un uomo può dire che è sopraffatto?
21 "And now men cannot look on the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them.	21 Ora diventa invisibile la luce, oscurata in mezzo alle nubi: ma tira il vento e le spazza via.
22 Out of the north comes golden splendor; God is clothed with terrible majesty.	22 Dal nord giunge un aureo chiarore, intorno a Dio è tremenda maestà.
23 The Almighty--we cannot find him; he is great in power and justice, and abundant righteousness he will not violate.	23 L}Onnipotente noi non lo possiamo raggiungere, sublime in potenza e rettitudine e grande per giustizia: egli non ha da rispondere.
24 Therefore men fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit."	24 Perciò gli uomini lo temono: a lui la venerazione di tutti i saggi di mente.
