1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go in to Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may show these signs of mine among them,	1 E disse lo Signore a Moisè: va a Faraone; io ancora indurai lo cuore suo e delli servi suoi, acciò ch' io faccia questi miei segni in lui.
2 and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and of your son's son how I have made sport of the Egyptians and what signs I have done among them; that you may know that I am the LORD."	2 E narri nelle orecchie del figliuolo tuo e dei nepoti tuoi, quante volte io abbia contrito Egitto, e li miei segni abbia fatto in loro; e sappiate ch' io sono lo Signore Iddio.
3 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said to him, "Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.	3 Entrarono adunque Moisè ed Aaron, e dissero a lui: questo dice lo Signore Iddio degli Ebrei: persino a che tu non ti vogli sottoporre a me? la scia lo mio popolo, acciò ch' ei facci sacrificio a me.
4 For if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country,	4 Ma se tu sarai costante, e non vogli lasciare lui: ecco io inducerò domani grilli nelle fini tue.
5 and they shall cover the face of the land, so that no one can see the land; and they shall eat what is left to you after the hail, and they shall eat every tree of yours which grows in the field,	5 Li quali copriranno tutte le terre; e niuna cosa fuori di loro apparisca; ma mangino ogni cosa sarà scampata dalla gragnola; e certo egli roderanno tutti li legni che germinano nelli campi.
6 and they shall fill your houses, and the houses of all your servants and of all the Egyptians; as neither your fathers nor your grandfathers have seen, from the day they came on earth to this day.'" Then he turned and went out from Pharaoh.	6 Ed empiranno le case tue e delli servi tuoi e di tutti gli Egizii, quanti non videro li padri tuoi e li avoli, poscia che nascerono sopra la terra insino al presente dì. E rivolsesi, e partissi Moisè da Faraone.
7 And Pharaoh's servants said to him, "How long shall this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God; do you not yet understand that Egypt is ruined?"	7 E dissero li servi di Faraone a lui: perchè sostegnamo noi questo scandolo? Lascia li uomini, acciò che egli sacrifichino a Dio loro. Non vedi tu, che perirà Egitto?
8 So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh; and he said to them, "Go, serve the LORD your God; but who are to go?"	8 E richiamarono Moisè ed Aaron a Faraone, il quale disse a loro: andate e sacrificate a Dio vostro. Ma chi sono coloro che vi debbeno andare?
9 And Moses said, "We will go with our young and our old; we will go with our sons and daughters and with our flocks and herds, for we must hold a feast to the LORD."	9 Disse Moisè: colli piccolini nostri e colli più vecchi anderemo, con li figliuoli e figliuole, colle pecore e coll'armento. Egli è veramente la solennità del Signore Iddio nostro.
10 And he said to them, "The LORD be with you, if ever I let you and your little ones go! Look, you have some evil purpose in mind.	10 E rispose Faraone: così lo Signore è con voi, come adunque lascerò voi e li figliuoli vostri. A chi è dubbio, che pessimamente abbiate pensato?
11 No! Go, the men among you, and serve the LORD, for that is what you desire." And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.	11 Non si farà così; ma andate solamente gli uomini, e sacrificate al Signore; veramente voi medesimi addomandaste questo. E incontanente cacciati sono dal cospetto di Faraone.
12 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come upon the land of Egypt, and eat every plant in the land, all that the hail has left."	12 Ma disse lo Signore a Moisè: istendi la mano tua sopra la terra d'Egitto a' grilli, acciò che saglino sopra la terra, e sopra quella sì divorino tutta l'erba ch' è rimasa dalla gragnola.
13 So Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day and all that night; and when it was morning the east wind had brought the locusts.	13 Ed istese Moisè la verga sopra la terra di Egitto; e lo Signore v indusse lo vento ardente tutto quello dì e la notte; e fatto la mattina, lo vento ardente levoe li grilli.
14 And the locusts came up over all the land of Egypt, and settled on the whole country of Egypt, such a dense swarm of locusts as had never been before, nor ever shall be again.	14 Li quali salirono sopra tutta la terra d'Egitto, e stettero in tutti li fini d'Egitto sanza numero; li quali innanzi quello tempo non v'eran stati, nè poscia debbono essere.
15 For they covered the face of the whole land, so that the land was darkened, and they ate all the plants in the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left; not a green thing remained, neither tree nor plant of the field, through all the land of Egypt.	15 E coprirono tutta la faccia della terra, guastando ogni cosa, e dirorando tutta l'erba della terra, e qualunque cosa de' pomi negli albori, li quali la gragnola avea lasciati; e ad ogni modo niuna cosa virente lasciarono nelli legni nè nelle erbe in tutta la terra d'Egitto.
16 Then Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron in haste, and said, "I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.	16 Per la quale cagione affrettato Faraone chiamò Moisè ed Aaron, e disse loro: peccai al Signore Iddio vostro ed in voi.
17 Now therefore, forgive my sin, I pray you, only this once, and entreat the LORD your God only to remove this death from me."	17 Ma ora perdonate a me lo peccato ancora questa volta; e pregate lo Signore Iddio vostro, che egli tolga da me questa morte.
18 So he went out from Pharaoh, and entreated the LORD.	18 E partitosi Moisè dal cospetto di Faraone, orò il Signore.
19 And the LORD turned a very strong west wind, which lifted the locusts and drove them into the Red Sea; not a single locust was left in all the country of Egypt.	19 Il quale fece sffioare lo vento da occidente grandissimo; e tolti li grilli, gittolli in lo mare rubro; e non ne rimase pur uno in tutta la terra di Egitto.
20 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go.	20 E indurato è lo cuore di Faraone; nè non vuolse lasciare i figliuoli d'Israel.
21 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward heaven that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness to be felt."	21 Disse ancora lo Signore a Moisè: istendi la mano tua in cielo; e fieno le tenebre sopra la terra d'Egitto, sì grandi e dense, acciò che palpare si possano.
22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;	22 Ed istese la mano Moisè in cielo; e fatte sono tenebre orribili sopra la terra d'Egitto tre dì, sì grandi,
23 they did not see one another, nor did any rise from his place for three days; but all the people of Israel had light where they dwelt.	23 che niuno vide lo fratello suo, e non si mosse del luogo suo nel quale era; ma dovunque abitavano li figli d'Israel, si lucea (ed era chiaro).
24 Then Pharaoh called Moses, and said, "Go, serve the LORD; your children also may go with you; only let your flocks and your herds remain behind."	24 E chiamò Faraone Moisè ed Aaron, e disse a loro: andate e sacrificate al Signore; e solamente le pecore e l'armento vostro rimangano; li figliuo li vostri vengano con voi.
25 But Moses said, "You must also let us have sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.	25 E disse Moisè: ancora l'ostie e li sacrificii darai a noi, li quali offeriamo al Signore Iddio nostro.
26 Our cattle also must go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind, for we must take of them to serve the LORD our God, and we do not know with what we must serve the LORD until we arrive there."	26 Tutte le greggie verranno con esso noi; non rimanerà di loro l'unghia: le quali necessarie sono alculto del Signore nostro, e specialmente conciosia cosa che noi non sappiamo quello che si debba sacrificare, insino a tanto che noi non ve niamo a quello luogo.
27 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go.	27 Ma indurò lo Signore lo cuore di Faraone; e non volle lasciare lo popolo.
28 Then Pharaoh said to him, "Get away from me; take heed to yourself; never see my face again; for in the day you see my face you shall die."	28 E disse Faraone a Moisè: partiti da me, e guarda che tu più non vedi la faccia mia; in verità qualunque di apparirai a me, io ti farò morire.
29 Moses said, "As you say! I will not see your face again."	29 Rispose Moisè: così sarae fatto come tu hae detto, ch' io non vederò più oltre la faccia tua.
