1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.	1 Jotam, quando divenne re, aveva venticinque anni e regnò sedici anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Jerusha figlia di Zadok.
2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD according to all that his father Uzziah had done--only he did not invade the temple of the LORD. But the people still followed corrupt practices.	2 Egli fece ciò che è retto agli di Jahvè, proprio come aveva fatto Ozia suo padre soltanto egli non entrò néll’aula di Jahvè. Il popolo però teneva ancora una condotta perversa.
3 He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD, and did much building on the wall of Ophel.	3 Egli costruì la porta superiore del tempio di Jahvè ed eseguì molte costruzioni per la muraglia dell'Ofel.
4 Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and forts and towers on the wooded hills.	4 Fortificò città sulla montagna di Giuda e nei boschi eresse castelli e torri.
5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. And the Ammonites gave him that year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand cors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second and the third years.	5 Egli mosse guerra al re dei figli di Ammon e riportò vittoria su di loro. In quell’anno i figli di Ammon gli dovettero dare cento talenti d'argento, diecimila chor di grano e diecimila pani di orzo. Altrettanto gli pagarono i figli di Ammon il secondo e il terzo anno.
6 So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God.	6 Così Jotam divenne potente, poiché camminò costantemenente alla presenza di Jahvè suo Dio.
7 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.	7 Il resto degli atti di Jotam, tutte le sue guerre e le sue imprese sono cose scritte nel Libro de Re di Israele e di Giuda.

9 And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.	9 Quindi si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella città di David. Akhaz suo figlio regnò al suo posto.
