1 Now Absalom, David's son, had a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar; and after a time Amnon, David's son, loved her.	1 Dopo queste cose, accadde che, avendo Assalonne figlio di Davide, una sorella molto bella, chiamata Tamàr, Amnòn figlio di Davide si innamorò di lei.
2 And Amnon was so tormented that he made himself ill because of his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin, and it seemed impossible to Amnon to do anything to her.	2 Amnòn ne ebbe una tal passione, da cadere malato a causa di Tamàr sua sorella; poiché essa era vergine pareva impossibile ad Amnòn di poterle fare qualcosa.
3 But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shime-ah, David's brother; and Jonadab was a very crafty man.	3 Ora Amnòn aveva un amico, chiamato Ionadàb figlio di Simeà, fratello di Davide e Ionadàb era un uomo molto astuto.
4 And he said to him, "O son of the king, why are you so haggard morning after morning? Will you not tell me?" Amnon said to him, "I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister."	4 Egli disse: "Perché, figlio del re, tu diventi sempre più magro di giorno in giorno? Non me lo vuoi dire?". Amnòn gli rispose: "Sono innamorato di Tamàr, sorella di mio fratello Assalonne".
5 Jonadab said to him, "Lie down on your bed, and pretend to be ill; and when your father comes to see you, say to him, 'Let my sister Tamar come and give me bread to eat, and prepare the food in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it from her hand.'"	5 Ionadàb gli disse: "Mettiti a letto e fingiti malato; quando tuo padre verrà a vederti, gli dirai: Permetti che mia sorella Tamàr venga a darmi da mangiare e a preparare la vivanda sotto i miei occhi, così che io veda; allora prenderò il cibo dalle sue mani".
6 So Amnon lay down, and pretended to be ill; and when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, "Pray let my sister Tamar come and make a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand."	6 Amnòn si mise a letto e si finse malato; quando il re lo venne a vedere, Amnòn gli disse: "Permetti che mia sorella Tamàr venga e faccia un paio di frittelle sotto i miei occhi e allora prenderò il cibo dalle sue mani".
7 Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, "Go to your brother Amnon's house, and prepare food for him."	7 Allora Davide mandò a dire a Tamàr, in casa: "Va' a casa di Amnòn tuo fratello e prepara una vivanda per lui".
8 So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house, where he was lying down. And she took dough, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.	8 Tamàr andò a casa di Amnòn suo fratello, che giaceva a letto. Essa prese farina stemperata, la impastò, ne fece frittelle sotto i suoi occhi e le fece cuocere.
9 And she took the pan and emptied it out before him, but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, "Send out every one from me." So every one went out from him.	9 Poi prese la padella e versò le frittelle davanti a lui; ma egli rifiutò di mangiare e disse: "Allontanate tutti dalla mia presenza". Tutti uscirono.
10 Then Amnon said to Tamar, "Bring the food into the chamber, that I may eat from your hand." And Tamar took the cakes she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.	10 Allora Amnòn disse a Tamàr: "Portami la vivanda in camera e prenderò il cibo dalle tue mani". Tamàr prese le frittelle che aveva fatte e le portò in camera ad Amnòn suo fratello.
11 But when she brought them near him to eat, he took hold of her, and said to her, "Come, lie with me, my sister."	11 Ma mentre gliele dava da mangiare, egli l'afferrò e le disse: "Vieni, unisciti a me, sorella mia".
12 She answered him, "No, my brother, do not force me; for such a thing is not done in Israel; do not do this wanton folly.	12 Essa gli rispose: "No, fratello mio, non farmi violenza; questo non si fa in Israele; non commettere questa infamia!
13 As for me, where could I carry my shame? And as for you, you would be as one of the wanton fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray you, speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you."	13 Io dove andrei a portare il mio disonore? Quanto a te, tu diverresti come un malfamato in Israele. Parlane piuttosto al re, egli non mi rifiuterà a te".
14 But he would not listen to her; and being stronger than she, he forced her, and lay with her.	14 Ma egli non volle ascoltarla: fu più forte di lei e la violentò unendosi a lei.
15 Then Amnon hated her with very great hatred; so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, "Arise, be gone."	15 Poi Amnòn concepì verso di lei un odio grandissimo: l'odio verso di lei fu più grande dell'amore con cui l'aveva prima amata. Le disse:
16 But she said to him, "No, my brother; for this wrong in sending me away is greater than the other which you did to me." But he would not listen to her.	16 "Alzati, vattene!". Gli rispose: "O no! Questo torto che mi fai cacciandomi è peggiore dell'altro che mi hai già fatto". Ma egli non volle ascoltarla.
17 He called the young man who served him and said, "Put this woman out of my presence, and bolt the door after her."	17 Anzi, chiamato il giovane che lo serviva, gli disse: "Cacciami fuori costei e sprangale dietro il battente".
18 Now she was wearing a long robe with sleeves; for thus were the virgin daughters of the king clad of old. So his servant put her out, and bolted the door after her.	18 Essa indossava una tunica con le maniche, perché così vestivano, da molto tempo, le figlie del re ancora vergini. Il servo di Amnòn dunque la mise fuori e le sprangò il battente dietro.
19 And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent the long robe which she wore; and she laid her hand on her head, and went away, crying aloud as she went.	19 Tamàr si sparse polvere sulla testa, si stracciò la tunica dalle lunghe maniche che aveva indosso, si mise le mani sulla testa e se ne andò camminando e gridando.
20 And her brother Absalom said to her, "Has Amnon your brother been with you? Now hold your peace, my sister; he is your brother; do not take this to heart." So Tamar dwelt, a desolate woman, in her brother Absalom's house.	20 Assalonne suo fratello le disse: "Forse Amnòn tuo fratello è stato con te? Per ora taci, sorella mia; è tuo fratello; non disperarti per questa cosa". Tamàr desolata rimase in casa di Assalonne, suo fratello.
21 When King David heard of all these things, he was very angry.	21 Il re Davide seppe tutte queste cose e ne fu molto irritato, ma non volle urtare il figlio Amnòn, perché aveva per lui molto affetto; era infatti il suo primogenito.
22 But Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.	22 Assalonne non disse una parola ad Amnòn né in bene né in male; odiava Amnòn perché aveva violato Tamàr sua sorella.
23 After two full years Absalom had sheepshearers at Baal-hazor, which is near Ephraim, and Absalom invited all the king's sons.	23 Due anni dopo Assalonne, avendo i tosatori a Baal-Cazòr, presso Èfraim, invitò tutti i figli del re.
24 And Absalom came to the king, and said, "Behold, your servant has sheepshearers; pray let the king and his servants go with your servant."	24 Andò dunque Assalonne dal re e disse: "Ecco il tuo servo ha i tosatori presso di sé. Venga dunque anche il re con i suoi ministri a casa del tuo servo!".
25 But the king said to Absalom, "No, my son, let us not all go, lest we be burdensome to you." He pressed him, but he would not go but gave him his blessing.	25 Ma il re disse ad Assalonne: "No, figlio mio, non si venga noi tutti, perché non ti siamo di peso". Sebbene insistesse, il re non volle andare; ma gli diede la sua benedizione.
26 Then Absalom said, "If not, pray let my brother Amnon go with us." And the king said to him, "Why should he go with you?"	26 Allora Assalonne disse: "Se non vuoi venire tu, permetti ad Amnòn mio fratello di venire con noi". Il re gli rispose: "Perché dovrebbe venire con te?".
27 But Absalom pressed him until he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.	27 Ma Assalonne tanto insisté che Davide lasciò andare con lui Amnòn e tutti i figli del re. Assalonne fece un banchetto come un banchetto da re.
28 Then Absalom commanded his servants, "Mark when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, 'Strike Amnon,' then kill him. Fear not; have I not commanded you? Be courageous and be valiant."	28 Ma Assalonne diede quest'ordine ai servi: "Badate, quando Amnòn avrà il cuore riscaldato dal vino e io vi dirò: Colpite Amnòn!, voi allora uccidetelo e non abbiate paura. Non ve lo comando io? Fatevi coraggio e comportatevi da forti!".
29 So the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and each mounted his mule and fled.	29 I servi di Assalonne fecero ad Amnòn come Assalonne aveva comandato. Allora tutti i figli del re si alzarono, montarono ciascuno sul suo mulo e fuggirono.
30 While they were on the way, tidings came to David, "Absalom has slain all the king's sons, and not one of them is left."	30 Mentre essi erano ancora per strada, giunse a Davide questa notizia: "Assalonne ha ucciso tutti i figli del re e neppure uno è scampato".
31 Then the king arose, and rent his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants who were standing by rent their garments.	31 Allora il re si alzò, si stracciò le vesti e si gettò per terra; tutti i suoi ministri che gli stavano intorno, stracciarono le loro vesti.
32 But Jonadab the son of Shime-ah, David's brother, said, "Let not my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men the king's sons, for Amnon alone is dead, for by the command of Absalom this has been determined from the day he forced his sister Tamar.	32 Ma Ionadàb figlio di Simeà, fratello di Davide, disse: "Non dica il mio signore che tutti i giovani, figli del re, sono stati uccisi; il solo Amnòn è morto; per Assalonne era cosa decisa fin da quando Amnòn aveva fatto violenza a sua sorella Tamàr.
33 Now therefore let not my lord the king so take it to heart as to suppose that all the king's sons are dead; for Amnon alone is dead."	33 Ora non si metta in cuore il mio signore una tal cosa, come se tutti i figli del re fossero morti; il solo Amnòn è morto
34 But Absalom fled. And the young man who kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, many people were coming from the Horonaim road by the side of the mountain.	34 e Assalonne è fuggito". Il giovane che stava di sentinella alzò gli occhi, guardò ed ecco una gran turba di gente veniva per la strada di Bacurìm, dal lato del monte, sulla discesa. La sentinella venne ad avvertire il re e disse: "Ho visto uomini scendere per la strada di Bacurìm, dal lato del monte".
35 And Jonadab said to the king, "Behold, the king's sons have come; as your servant said, so it has come about."	35 Allora Ionadàb disse al re: "Ecco i figli del re arrivano; la cosa sta come il tuo servo ha detto".
36 And as soon as he had finished speaking, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept; and the king also and all his servants wept very bitterly.	36 Come ebbe finito di parlare, ecco giungere i figli del re, i quali alzarono grida e piansero; anche il re e tutti i suoi ministri fecero un gran pianto.
37 But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son day after day.	37 Quanto ad Assalonne, era fuggito ed era andato da Talmài, figlio di Ammiùd, re di Ghesùr. Il re fece il lutto per il suo figlio per lungo tempo.
38 So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.	38 Assalonne rimase tre anni a Ghesùr, dove era andato dopo aver preso la fuga.
39 And the spirit of the king longed to go forth to Absalom; for he was comforted about Amnon, seeing he was dead.	39 Poi lo spirito del re Davide cessò di sfogarsi contro Assalonne, perché si era placato il dolore per la morte di Amnòn.
