1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram, and said to him, "I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless.	1 Mas, quando (Abrão) chegou à idade de noventa e nove anos, o Senhor apareceu-lhe e disse-lhe: Eu (sou) o Deus onipotente; anda em minha presença e sê perfeito.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly."	2 Farei a minha aliança entre mim e ti, e te multiplicarei extraordinariamente.
3 Then Abram fell on his face; and God said to him,	3 Abrão prostrou-se com o rosto por terra.
4 "Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations.	4 Deus disse-lhe: Eis minha aliança contigo: tu serás pai de muitas gentes
5 No longer shall your name be Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.	5 e não mais serás chamado com o nome de Abrão, mas chamar-te-ás Abraão, porque te destinei para pai de muitas gentes.
6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come forth from you.	6 Eu te farei crescer (na tua posteridade) extraordinariamente, farei de ti nações, e de ti sairão reis.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.	7 E estabelecerei a minha que eu seja o teu Deus, e da tua descendência, depois de ti, no decurso das suas gerações, por um pacto eterno, para que eu seja o teu Deus, e da tua descendência, depois de ti.
8 And I will give to you, and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."	8 Darei a ti e á tua posteridade a terra da tua peregrinação, (que é) toda a terra de Canaan, em possessão eterna.
9 And God said to Abraham, "As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.	9 Disse mais Deus a Abraão: tu, pois, guardarás a minha aliança, tu e os teus descendentes depois de ti, nas suas gerações.
10 This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.	10 Eis o pacto, que haveis de guardar, tu e a tua posteridade, depois de ti: todo o varão será circuncidado.
11 You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.	11 Circuncidareis a carne do vosso prepúcio, e este será o sinal da aliança entre mim e vós.
12 He that is eight days old among you shall be circumcised; every male throughout your generations, whether born in your house, or bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring,	12 O menino de oito dias será circuncidado entre vós, nas vossas gerações: os escravos, tanto o escravo (nascido em casa), como o que comprardes, mesmo que não seja da vossa linhagem, serão circuncidados.
13 both he that is born in your house and he that is bought with your money, shall be circumcised. So shall my covenant be in your flesh an everlasting covenant.	13 Este meu pacto (será marcado) na vossa carne para (sinal de) aliança eterna.
14 Any uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant."	14 O indivíduo do sexo masculino, cuja carne não tiver sido circuncidada, será excluido do seu povo, porque violou a minha aliança.
15 And God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.	15 Disse também Deus a Abraão: a Sarai, tua mulher, não chamarás mais Sarai, mas Sara.
16 I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her; I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall come from her."	16 Eu a abençoarei, e dela te darei um filho, o qual abençoarei, e será chefe de nações, e dele sairão reis de povos.
17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said to himself, "Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?"	17 Abraão prostrou-se com o rosto por terra e riu-se, dizendo no seu coração: é possível que a um homem de cem anos nasça um filho? e que Sara dê à luz aos noventa?
18 And Abraham said to God, "O that Ishmael might live in thy sight!"	18 E disse a Deus: Oxalá que Ismael viva em tua presença!
19 God said, "No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.	19 Deus respondeu a Abraão: Sara, tua mulher, te dará à luz um filho, e lhe porás o nome de Isaac, e farei o meu pacto com ele e com a sua descendência, depois dele, por uma aliança eterna.
20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him and make him fruitful and multiply him exceedingly; he shall be the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.	20 Eu te ouvi também acerca de Ismael: abençoá-lo-ei, fá-lo-ei crescer e o multiplicarei extraordinariamente: gerará doze príncipes e farei dele uma grande nação.
21 But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this season next year."	21 Mas o meu pacto, firmá-lo-ei com Isaac, que Sara te dará à luz no próximo ano, nesta mesma época.
22 When he had finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham.	22 Acabada que foi esta sua conversação com ele, retirou-se Deus de Abraão.
23 Then Abraham took Ishmael his son and all the slaves born in his house or bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very day, as God had said to him.	23 Tomou, pois, Abraão seu filho Ismael, todos os escravos nascidos em sua casa, todos os que tinha comprado, e, em geral, todos os homens de sua casa, e os circuncidou logo no mesmo dia, como Deus lhe tinha ordenado.
24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.	24 Tinha Abraão noventa e nove anos, quando se circuncidou.
25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.	25 Ismael, seu filho, tinha treze anos, quando foi circuncidado.
26 That very day Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised;	26 Abraão e seu filho Ismael foram circuncidados no mesmo dia;
27 and all the men of his house, those born in the house and those bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.	27 todos os homens da sua casa, tanto os escravos (nascidos nela), como os comprados e os estrangeiros, foram circuncidados com ele.
