1 Concerning other things, brothers, pray for us, so that the Word of God may advance and be glorified, just as it is among you,	1 Quanto ao mais, irmãos, orai por nós para que a palavra do Senhor se propague e seja glorificada, como é entre vós,
2 and so that we may be freed from pertinacious and evil men. For not everyone is faithful.	2 e para que sejamos livres dos homens importunos e maus, porque a fé não é de todos (porque nem todos querem ouvir ou pôr em prática o Evangelho).
3 But God is faithful. He will strengthen you, and he will guard you from evil.	3 Mas Deus é fiel: ele vos confirmará e guardará do (espírito) maligno.
4 And we have confidence about you in the Lord, that you are doing, and will continue to do, just as we have instructed.	4 Confiamos no Senhor, quanto a vós, que fazeis e continuareis a fazer o que vos mandamos.
5 And may the Lord direct your hearts, in the charity of God and with the patience of Christ.	5 O Senhor, pois, dirija os vossos corações no amor de Deus e na paciência de Cristo.
6 But we strongly caution you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to draw yourselves away from every brother who is walking in disorder and not according to the tradition that they received from us.	6 Nós vos ordenamos, irmãos, em nome de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que vos aparteis de todo o irmão que viver na preguiça, e não segundo a doutrina que foi recebida de nós.
7 For you yourselves know the manner in which you ought to imitate us. For we were not disorderly among you.	7 Em realidade, vós mesmos sabeis como deveis imitar-nos, pois que não vivemos preguiçosos entre vós,
8 Nor did we eat bread from anyone for free, but rather, we worked night and day, in hardship and weariness, so as not to be burdensome to you.	8 nem comemos de graça o pão de ninguém, mas com trabalho e fadiga, trabalhando de noite e de dia, para não sermos pesados a nenhum de vós.
9 It was not as if we had no authority, but this was so that we might present ourselves as an example to you, in order to imitate us.	9 Não porque não tivéssemos direito a isso, mas para vos dar em nós mesmos um modelo a imitar,
10 Then, too, while we were with you, we insisted on this to you: that if anyone was not willing to work, neither should he eat.	10 Desta sorte, quando ainda estávamos convosco, vos declarávamos que, se alguém não quer trabalhar, também não coma.
11 For we have heard that there are some among you who act disruptively, not working at all, but eagerly meddling.	11 Ouvimos dizer que alguns entre vós são preguiçosos, nada fazendo, mas ocupando-se em coisas vãs;
12 Now we charge those who act in this way, and we beg them in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work in silence and eat their own bread.	12 a estes, pois, que assim procedem, ordenamos e rogamos no Senhor Jesus Cristo que, trabalhando pacificamente, comam o pão assim ganhado.
13 And you, brothers, do not grow weak in doing good.	13 E vós, irmãos, não vos canseis nunca de fazer bem.
14 But if anyone does not obey our word by this epistle, take note of him and do not keep company with him, so that he may be ashamed.	14 Se algum não obedece ao que ordenamos pela nossa carta, notai-o e não tenhais comércio com ele, a fim de que se envergonhe;
15 But do not be willing to consider him as an enemy; instead, correct him as a brother.	15 não o considereis todavia como um inimigo, mas adverti-o (caridosamente) como irmão.
16 Then may the Lord of peace himself give you an everlasting peace, in every place. May the Lord be with all of you.	16 O mesmo Senhor de paz vos dê a paz, sempre e por todas as formas. O Senhor seja com todos vós.
17 The greeting of Paul with my own hand, which is the seal in every epistle. So do I write.	17 A saudação é de minha própria mão, de mim Paulo. É esta a minha assinatura em todas as minhas cartas. É assim que eu escrevo.
18 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.	18 A graça de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja com todos vós.
