1 Now Peter and John went up to the temple at the ninth hour of prayer.	1 Un giorno Pietro e Giovanni stavano salendo al tempio verso l’ora nona per la preghiera.
2 And a certain man, who was lame from his mother’s womb, was being carried in. They would lay him every day at the gate of the temple, which is called the Beautiful, so that he might request alms from those entering into the temple.	2 Nello stesso tempo veniva portato un uomo nato storpio, che usavano collocare ogni giorno alla porta del tempio chiamata Bella perché chiedesse l’elemosina a quanti vi entravano.
3 And this man, when he had seen Peter and John beginning to enter the temple, was begging, so that he might receive alms.	3 Visti, dunque, Pietro e Giovanni sul punto di entrare nel tempio, chiese loro l’elemosina.
4 Then Peter and John, gazing at him, said, “Look at us.”	4 Pietro con Giovanni lo fissò, poi gli disse: «Guarda verso di noi».
5 And he looked intently at them, hoping that he might receive something from them.	5 L’infelice, nell’attesa di riceverne qualcosa, li guardava attento.
6 But Peter said: “Silver and gold is not mine. But what I have, I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, rise up and walk.”	6 Allora Pietro: «Argento e oro non ne ho, ma ti do quel che possiedo: in nome di Gesù Cristo, il Nazareno, cammina!»
7 And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up. And immediately his legs and feet were strengthened.	7 E presolo per la mano destra fece l’atto di rialzarlo. All’istante piedi e caviglie ripresero vigore,
8 And leaping up, he stood and walked around. And he entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God.	8 ed egli con un balzo fu in piedi e camminò. E camminando e saltando e ringraziando Dio entrò con loro nel tempio.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God.	9 Tutta la gente lo vide camminare e lodare Iddio,
10 And they recognized him, that he was the same one who was sitting for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. And they were filled with awe and amazement at what had happened to him.	10 e riconobbe bene che era quel tale che usava sedere a mendicare davanti alla porta Bella del tempio, e restarono stupiti e perplessi per quanto gli era accaduto.
11 Then, as he held on to Peter and John, all the people ran to them at the portico, which is called Solomon’s, in astonishment.	11 Mentre quegli si teneva accosto a Pietro e Giovanni, tutta la gente si radunò stupita presso di loro sotto il portico detto di Salomone.
12 But Peter, seeing this, responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this? Or why do you stare at us, as if it were by our own strength or power that we caused this man to walk?	12 Pietro si voltò e prese così a parlare: «O Israeliti, perché vi meravigliate di questo fatto e perché fissate noi quasicchè sia stata la nostra potenza o la nostra religiosità a far camminare quest'uomo?
13 The God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus, whom you, indeed, handed over and denied before the face of Pilate, when he was giving judgment to release him.	13 È stato il Dio di Abramo, di Isacco e di Giacobbe, il Dio dei nostri padri, che ha glorificato il servo suo Gesù, da voi consegnato e rinnegato davanti a Pilato. E mentre Pilato lo assolse,
14 Then you denied the Holy and Just One, and petitioned for a murderous man to be given to you.	14 voi rinnegaste il Santo e il Giusto e vi faceste dare in dono un omicida.
15 Truly, it was the Author of Life whom you put to death, whom God raised from the dead, to whom we are witnesses.	15 Così uccideste il principe della vita. Egli però è stato risuscitato da Dio, come noi possiamo attestare.
16 And by faith in his name, this man, whom you have seen and known, has confirmed his name. And faith through him has given this man complete health in the sight of you all.	16 Anzi, precisamente per mezzo della fede nel suo nome, questi, che voi vedete e conoscete, è stato fortificato da lui: insomma, la fede dataci da lui ha conferito a quest'uomo la perfetta guarigione sotto i vostri occhi.
17 And now, brothers, I know that you did this through ignorance, just as your leaders also did.	17 Or dunque, o fratelli, so che agiste per ignoranza, al pari dei vostri capi.
18 But in this way God has fulfilled the things that he announced beforehand through the mouth of all the Prophets: that his Christ would suffer.	18 Dio in tal modo ha compiuto quel che aveva predetto per bocca di tutti i profeti, cioè la passione del suo Messia.
19 Therefore, repent and be converted, so that your sins may be wiped away.	19 Ravvedetevi dunque e convertitevi, affinché siano cancellati i vostri peccati,
20 And then, when the time of consolation will have arrived from the presence of the Lord, he will send the One who was foretold to you, Jesus Christ,	20 e così dal Signore verranno tempi di sollievo, poi egli manderà colui che già è stato destinato quale vostro Messia, Gesù,
21 whom heaven certainly must take up, until the time of the restoration of all things, which God has spoken of by the mouth of his holy prophets, from ages past.	21 che il cielo deve ospitare fino ai tempi della rigenerazione universale annunciata da Dio per bocca dei suoi santi profeti dell’antichità.
22 Indeed, Moses said: ‘For the Lord your God shall raise up a Prophet for you from your brothers, one like me; the same shall you listen to according to everything whatsoever that he shall speak to you.	22 Mosè per esempio predisse: Un profeta susciterà per voi il Signore Dio vostro di tra i vostri connazionali come ha suscitato me, e voi lo ascolterete in tutto ciò che vi dirà.
23 And this shall be: every soul who will not listen to that Prophet shall be exterminated from the people.’	23 E badate: chiunque non ascolterà quel profeta verrà sterminato di mezzo al popolo.
24 And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and thereafter, have announced these days.	24 Similmente fecero tutti i profeti da Samuele in poi: quanti parlarono, annunziarono i tempi presenti.
25 You are sons of the prophets and of the testament which God has appointed for our fathers, saying to Abraham: ‘And by your offspring all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’	25 Voi siete gli eredi dei profeti e del patto che Dio stabilì con i vostri padri quando disse ad Abramo: Nella tua discendenza saranno benedette tutte le nazioni della terra.
26 God raised up his Son and sent him first to you, to bless you, so that each one may turn himself away from his wickedness.”	26 Suscitato il suo servo, Iddio lo ha inviato anzitutto a voi a portarvi benedizioni convertendo ciascuno dalle proprie iniquità».
