Deuteronomy 14

1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.	1 «Per Jahvè vostro Dio voi siete figli. Non vi farete incisioni per un morto né vi farete una tonsura sulla fronte.
2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.	2 Tu, infatti; sei un popolo consacrato a Jahvè tuo Dio e, tra tutti i popoli che sono sulla faccia della terra, Jahvè ha scelto te affinché sia un popolo particolarmente suo.
3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.	3 Non mangerete nulla di abominevole.
4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,	4 Questi sono gli animali di cui potete mangiare: bue, pecora, capra,
5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.	5 cervo, gazzella, daino, stambecco, antilope, bufalo, camoscio;
6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.	6 potrete mangiare di ogni animale che ha lo zoccolo spaccato e diviso in due unghie e che rumina.
7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.	7 Tuttavia tra i ruminanti e tra quelli che hanno lo zoccolo spaccato e diviso, non potrete mangiare il cammello, la lepre e l’irace poiché ruminano, ma non hanno lo zoccolo spaccato. Per voi essi sono animali impuri.
8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.	8 Così è impuro per voi anche il porco che, sebbene abbia lo zoccolo spaccato, non rumina. Non mangerete le loro carni e non toccherete i loro cadaveri.
9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.	9 Tra quanti sono nell’acqua potrete mangiare di tutti quelli che hanno pinne e squame;
10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.	10 ma non mangerete di tutti quelli che non hanno pinne né squame. Per voi essi sono impuri.
11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.	11 Potrete mangiare di ogni uccello puro
12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,	12 ma non potrete mangiare di questi:
13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,	13 l’aquila, l’ossifraga, la strige, il nibbio e tutti gli uccelli rapaci,
14 and any kind of raven,	14 tutte le specie di corvi;
15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,	15 lo struzzo, la civetta, il gabbiano, tutti gli sparvieri,
16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,	16 il gufo, il martin pescatore, l’ibis, il cigno,
17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,	17 il pellicano, la folaga,
18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.	18 la cicogna, le varie specie di aironi, l’upupa, il pipistrello,
19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.	19 gli insetti alati sono impuri per voi. Di essi non potrete mangiare.
20 All that is clean, you shall eat.	20 Potrete mangiare di ogni volatile puro.
21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.	21 Non mangerete di alcun animale morto da solo; lo darai al forestiero che è tra le tue porte ed egli lo mangerà, oppure lo venderai a uno straniero. Tu infatti sei un popolo consacrato a Jahvè tuo Dio. Non farai bollire un capretto nel latte di sua madre.
22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.	22 Ogni anno dovrai togliere la decima di ogni prodotto della tua semente che cresce nei campi
23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.	23 e la mangerai al cospetto di Jahvè tuo Dio nel luogo nel quale sceglierà di far dimorare il suo nome: mangerai la decima del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio, i primi parti del tuo bestiame grosso e del tuo bestiame minuto; affinché tu impari a temere ogni giorno Jahvè tuo Dio.
24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,	24 Se il cammino è per te troppo lungo, se tu non puoi trasportare la decima poiché è troppo distante da te il luogo nel quale Jahvè tuo Dio ha scelto di porre il suo nome: allora quando Jahvè tuo Dio ti avrà benedetto,
25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.	25 la convertirai in denaro, stringerai il denaro nella mano e andrai al luogo scelto da Jahvè tuo Dio,
26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.	26 e là cambierai il denaro in tutto ciò che tu desideri: in bestiame grosso, in bestiame minuto, in vino, in bevanda inebriante e in quanto esige il tuo appetito. Ivi, al cospetto di Jahvè tuo Dio, mangerai e ti rallegrerai tu e la tua famiglia;
27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.	27 non trascurare il Levita che è tra le tue porte: egli, infatti, non ha con te né parte né eredità.
28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.	28 Dopo un triennio, porterai fuori ogni decima dei tuoi prodotti e in quell’anno la deporrai alle tue porte;
29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”	29 verranno il Levita, che non ha con te né parte né eredità, il forestiero, l’orfano e la vedova che si trovano dentro le tue porte, ne mangeranno e se ne sazieranno. Così Jahvè tuo Dio ti benedirà in ogni opera che sarà intrapresa dalle tue mani».
