1 And looking around, he saw the wealthy putting their donations into the offertory.	1 Alzati gli occhi, vide alcuni ricchi che gettavano le loro offerte nel tesoro.
2 Then he also saw a certain widow, a pauper, putting in two small brass coins.	2 Vide anche una vedova povera che vi gettava due spiccioli
3 And he said: “Truly, I say to you, that this poor widow has put in more than all the others.	3 e disse: "In verità vi dico: questa vedova, povera, ha messo più di tutti.
4 For all these, out of their abundance, have added to the gifts for God. But she, out of what she needed, has put in all that she had to live on.”	4 Tutti costoro, infatti, han deposto come offerta del loro superfluo, questa invece nella sua miseria ha dato tutto quanto aveva per vivere".
5 And when some of them were saying, about the temple, that it was adorned with excellent stones and gifts, he said,	5 Mentre alcuni parlavano del tempio e delle belle pietre e dei doni votivi che lo adornavano, disse:
6 “These things that you see, the days will arrive when there will not be left behind stone upon stone, which is not thrown down.”	6 "Verranno giorni in cui, di tutto quello che ammirate, non resterà pietra su pietra che non venga distrutta".
7 Then they questioned him, saying: “Teacher, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when these things will happen?”	7 Gli domandarono: "Maestro, quando accadrà questo e quale sarà il segno che ciò sta per compiersi?".
8 And he said: “Be cautious, lest you be seduced. For many will come in my name, saying: ‘For I am he,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ And so, do not choose to go after them.	8 Rispose: "Guardate di non lasciarvi ingannare. Molti verranno sotto il mio nome dicendo: "Sono io" e: "Il tempo è prossimo"; non seguiteli.
9 And when you will have heard of battles and seditions, do not be terrified. These things must happen first. But the end is not so soon.”	9 Quando sentirete parlare di guerre e di rivoluzioni, non vi terrorizzate. Devono infatti accadere prima queste cose, ma non sarà subito la fine".
10 Then he said to them: “People will rise up against people, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Poi disse loro: "Si solleverà popolo contro popolo e regno contro regno,
11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and pestilences, and famines, and terrors from heaven; and there will be great signs.	11 e vi saranno di luogo in luogo terremoti, carestie e pestilenze; vi saranno anche fatti terrificanti e segni grandi dal cielo.
12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, handing you over to synagogues and into custody, dragging you before kings and governors, because of my name.	12 Ma prima di tutto questo metteranno le mani su di voi e vi perseguiteranno, consegnandovi alle sinagoghe e alle prigioni, trascinandovi davanti a re e a governatori, a causa del mio nome.
13 And this will be an opportunity for you to give testimony.	13 Questo vi darà occasione di render testimonianza.
14 Therefore, set this in your hearts: that you should not consider in advance how you might respond.	14 Mettetevi bene in mente di non preparare prima la vostra difesa;
15 For I will give to you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries will not be able to resist or contradict.	15 io vi darò lingua e sapienza, a cui tutti i vostri avversari non potranno resistere, né controbattere.
16 And you will be handed over by your parents, and brothers, and relatives, and friends. And they will bring about the death of some of you.	16 Sarete traditi perfino dai genitori, dai fratelli, dai parenti e dagli amici, e metteranno a morte alcuni di voi;
17 And you will be hated by all because of my name.	17 sarete odiati da tutti per causa del mio nome.
18 And yet, not a hair of your head will perish.	18 Ma nemmeno un capello del vostro capo perirà.
19 By your patience, you shall possess your souls.	19 Con la vostra perseveranza salverete le vostre anime.
20 Then, when you will have seen Jerusalem encircled by an army, know then that its desolation has drawn near.	20 Ma quando vedrete Gerusalemme circondata da eserciti, sappiate allora che la sua devastazione è vicina.
21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and those who are in its midst withdraw, and those who are in the countryside not enter into it.	21 Allora coloro che si trovano nella Giudea fuggano ai monti, coloro che sono dentro la città se ne allontanino, e quelli in campagna non tornino in città;
22 For these are the days of retribution, so that all things may be fulfilled, which have been written.	22 saranno infatti giorni di vendetta, perché tutto ciò che è stato scritto si compia.
23 Then woe to those who are pregnant or nursing in those days. For there will be great distress upon the land and great wrath upon this people.	23 Guai alle donne che sono incinte e allattano in quei giorni, perché vi sarà grande calamità nel paese e ira contro questo popolo.
24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword. And they will be led away as captives into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles, until the times of the nations are fulfilled.	24 Cadranno a fil di spada e saranno condotti prigionieri tra tutti i popoli; Gerusalemme sarà calpestata dai pagani finché i tempi dei pagani siano compiuti.
25 And there will be signs in the sun and the moon and the stars. And there will be, on earth, distress among the Gentiles, out of confusion at the roaring of the sea and of the waves:	25 Vi saranno segni nel sole, nella luna e nelle stelle, e sulla terra angoscia di popoli in ansia per il fragore del mare e dei flutti,
26 men withering away out of fear and out of apprehension over the things that will overwhelm the whole world. For the powers of the heavens will be moved.	26 mentre gli uomini moriranno per la paura e per l'attesa di ciò che dovrà accadere sulla terra. 'Le' potenze 'dei cieli' infatti saranno sconvolte.
27 And then they will see the Son of man coming on a cloud, with great power and majesty.	27 Allora vedranno 'il Figlio dell'uomo venire su una nube' con potenza e gloria grande.
28 But when these things begin to happen, lift up your heads and look around you, because your redemption draws near.”	28 Quando cominceranno ad accadere queste cose, alzatevi e levate il capo, perché la vostra liberazione è vicina".
29 And he told them a comparison: “Take notice of the fig tree and of all the trees.	29 E disse loro una parabola: "Guardate il fico e tutte le piante;
30 When presently they produce fruit from themselves, you know that summer is near.	30 quando già germogliano, guardandoli capite da voi stessi che ormai l'estate è vicina.
31 So you also, when you will have seen these things happen, know that the kingdom of God is near.	31 Così pure, quando voi vedrete accadere queste cose, sappiate che il regno di Dio è vicino.
32 Amen I say to you, this lineage shall not pass away, until all these things happen.	32 In verità vi dico: non passerà questa generazione finché tutto ciò sia avvenuto.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away. But my words shall not pass away.	33 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.
34 But be attentive to yourselves, lest perhaps your hearts may be weighed down by self-indulgence and inebriation and the cares of this life. And then that day may overwhelm you suddenly.	34 State bene attenti che i vostri cuori non si appesantiscano in dissipazioni, ubriachezze e affanni della vita e che quel giorno non vi piombi addosso improvviso;
35 For like a snare it will overwhelm all those who sit upon the face of the entire earth.	35 come un laccio esso si abbatterà sopra tutti coloro che abitano sulla faccia di tutta la terra.
36 And so, be vigilant, praying at all times, so that you may be held worthy to escape from all these things, which are in the future, and to stand before the Son of man.”	36 Vegliate e pregate in ogni momento, perché abbiate la forza di sfuggire a tutto ciò che deve accadere, e di comparire davanti al Figlio dell'uomo".
37 Now in the daytime, he was teaching in the temple. But truly, departing in the evening, he lodged on the mount that is called Olivet.	37 Durante il giorno insegnava nel tempio, la notte usciva e pernottava all'aperto sul monte detto degli Ulivi.
38 And all the people arrived in the morning to listen to him in the temple.	38 E tutto il popolo veniva a lui di buon mattino nel tempio per ascoltarlo.
