1 And it happened that, when Jesus had completed all these words, he said to his disciples,	1 Et il arriva que, lorsque Jésus eut achevé tous ces discours, Il dit à Ses disciples:
2 “You know that after two days the Passover will begin, and the Son of man will be handed over to be crucified.”	2 Vous savez que la Pâque se fera dans deux jours, et le Fils de l'homme sera livré pour être crucifié.
3 Then the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.	3 Alors les princes des prêtres et les anciens du peuple s'assemblèrent dans la cour du grand prêtre, appelé Caïphe;
4 And they took counsel so that by deceitfulness they might take hold of Jesus and kill him.	4 et ils tinrent conseil pour se saisir de Jésus par ruse, et Le faire mourir.
5 But they said, “Not on the feast day, lest perhaps there may be a tumult among the people.”	5 Mais ils disaient: Que ce ne soit pas pendant la fête, de peur qu'il n'y ait du tumulte parmi le peuple.
6 And when Jesus was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper,	6 Or, comme Jésus était à Béthanie, dans la maison de Simon le lépreux,
7 a woman drew near to him, holding an alabaster box of precious ointment, and she poured it over his head while he was reclining at table.	7 une femme s'approcha de Lui avec un vase d'albâtre, plein d'un parfum de grand prix, et elle le répandit sur Sa tête, pendant qu'Il était à table.
8 But the disciples, seeing this, were indignant, saying: “What is the purpose of this waste?	8 Les disciples, voyant cela, s'indignèrent et dirent: A quoi bon cette perte?
9 For this could have been sold for a great deal, so as to be given to the poor.”	9 Car on aurait pu vendre ce parfum très cher, et en donner le prix aux pauvres.
10 But Jesus, knowing this, said to them: “Why are you bothering this woman? For she has done a good deed to me.	10 Mais Jésus, sachant ce qu'ils disaient, leur dit: Pourquoi faites-vous de la peine à cette femme? car elle a fait une bonne oeuvre à Mon égard.
11 For the poor you will always have with you. But you will not always have me.	11 En effet, vous avez toujours des pauvres avec vous; mais Moi, vous ne M'aurez pas toujours.
12 For in pouring this ointment on my body, she has prepared for my burial.	12 Cette femme, en répandant ce parfum sur Mon corps, l'a fait en vue de Ma sépulture.
13 Amen I say to you, wherever this Gospel will be preached in the whole world, what she has done also shall be told, in memory of her.”	13 En vérité, Je vous le dis, partout où sera prêché cet Evangile, dans le monde entier, on racontera aussi, en souvenir d'elle, ce qu'elle vient de faire.
14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the leaders of the priests,	14 Alors un des douze, appelé Judas Iscariote, alla trouver les princes des prêtres.
15 and he said to them, “What are you willing to give me, if I hand him over to you?” So they appointed thirty pieces of silver for him.	15 et leur dit: Que voulez-vous me donner, et je vous Le livrerai? Et ils convinrent de lui donner trente pièces d'argent.
16 And from then on, he sought an opportunity to betray him.	16 Depuis ce moment, il cherchait une occasion favorable pour Le livrer.
17 Then, on the first day of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus, saying, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”	17 Or, le premier jour des azymes, les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus et Lui dirent: Où voulez-Vous que nous Vous préparions ce qu'il faut pour manger la pâque?
18 So Jesus said, “Go into the city, to a certain one, and say to him: ‘The Teacher said: My time is near. I am observing the Passover with you, along with my disciples.’ ”	18 Jésus leur répondit: Allez dans la ville, chez un tel, et dites-lui: Le Maître dit: Mon temps est proche; Je ferai la pâque chez toi avec Mes disciples.
19 And the disciples did just as Jesus appointed to them. And they prepared the Passover.	19 Les disciples firent ce que Jésus leur avait ordonné, et préparèrent la pâque.
20 Then, when evening arrived, he sat at table with his twelve disciples.	20 Le soir étant venu, Il Se mit à table avec Ses douze disciples.
21 And while they were eating, he said: “Amen I say to you, that one of you is about to betray me.”	21 Et pendant qu'ils mangeaient, Il dit: En vérité, Je vous le dis, l'un de vous Me trahira.
22 And being greatly saddened, each one of them began to say, “Surely, it is not I, Lord?”	22 Vivement attristés, ils commencèrent chacun à Lui dire: Est-ce moi, Seigneur?
23 But he responded by saying: “He who dips his hand with me into the dish, the same will betray me.	23 Il leur répondit: Celui qui met avec Moi la main au plat est celui qui Me trahira.
24 Indeed, the Son of man goes, just as it has been written about him. But woe to that man by whom the Son of man will be betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”	24 Pour ce qui est du Fils de l'homme, Il S'en va, selon ce qui a été écrit de Lui; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le Fils de l'homme sera trahi! Il aurait mieux valu pour cet homme de n'être jamais né.
25 Then Judas, who betrayed him, responded by saying, “Surely, it is not I, Master?” He said to him, “You have said it.”	25 Judas, celui qui Le trahit, prenant la parole, Lui dit: Est-ce moi, Maître? Jésus lui répondit: Tu l'as dit.
26 Now while they were eating the meal, Jesus took bread, and he blessed and broke and gave it to his disciples, and he said: “Take and eat. This is my body.”	26 Or, pendant qu'ils soupaient, Jésus prit du pain, le bénit, le rompit, et le donna à Ses disciples, en disant: Prenez et mangez; ceci est Mon corps.
27 And taking the chalice, he gave thanks. And he gave it to them, saying: “Drink from this, all of you.	27 Et, prenant le calice, il rendit grâces, et le leur donna, en disant: Buvez-en tous;
28 For this is my blood of the new covenant, which shall be shed for many as a remission of sins.	28 car ceci est Mon sang, le sang de la nouvelle alliance, qui sera répandu pour beaucoup, pour la rémission des péchés.
29 But I say to you, I will not drink again from this fruit of the vine, until that day when I will drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father.”	29 Or, Je vous le dis, Je ne boirai plus désormais de ce fruit de la vigne, jusqu'à ce jour où Je le boirai de nouveau avec vous, dans le royaume de Mon Père.
30 And after a hymn was sung, they went out to the Mount of Olives.	30 Et, après avoir dit l'hymne, ils allèrent à la montagne des Oliviers.
31 Then Jesus said to them: “You will all fall away from me in this night. For it has been written: ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’	31 Alors Jésus leur dit: Vous serez tous scandalisés cette nuit à Mon sujet. Car il est écrit: Je frapperai le pasteur, et les brebis du troupeau seront dispersées.
32 But after I have risen again, I will go before you to Galilee.”	32 Mais, après que Je serai ressuscité, Je vous précéderai en Galilée.
33 Then Peter responded by saying to him, “Even if everyone else has fallen away from you, I will never fall away.”	33 Pierre, prenant la parole, Lui dit: Quand même tous seraient scandalisés à Votre sujet, moi je ne serai jamais scandalisé.
34 Jesus said to him, “Amen I say to you, that in this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”	34 Jésus lui dit: En vérité, Je te le dis, cette nuit même, avant que le coq chante, tu Me renieras trois fois.
35 Peter said to him, “Even if it is necessary for me to die with you, I will not deny you.” And all the disciples spoke similarly.	35 Pierre Lui dit: Quand il me faudrait mourir avec Vous, je ne Vous renierai point. Et tous les disciples parlèrent de même.
36 Then Jesus went with them to a garden, which is called Gethsemani. And he said to his disciples, “Sit down here, while I go there and pray.”	36 Alors Jésus vint avec eux dans un domaine appelé Gethsémani; Il dit à Ses disciples: Asseyez-vous ici, pendant que J'irai là pour prier.
37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and saddened.	37 Et ayant pris avec Lui Pierre et les deux fils de Zébédée, Il commença à être attristé et affligé.
38 Then he said to them: “My soul is sorrowful, even unto death. Stay here and keep vigil with me.”	38 Alors Il leur dit: Mon âme est triste jusqu'à la mort; demeurez ici, et veillez avec Moi.
39 And continuing on a little further, he fell prostrate on his face, praying and saying: “My Father, if it is possible, let this chalice pass away from me. Yet truly, let it not be as I will, but as you will.”	39 Et S'étant avancé un peu plus loin, Il Se prosterna le visage contre terre, priant et disant: Mon Père, s'il est possible, que ce calice s'éloigne de Moi; cependant, qu'il en soit non pas comme Je veux, mais comme Vous voulez.
40 And he approached his disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter: “So, were you not able to keep vigil with me for one hour?	40 Et Il vint vers Ses disciples, et les trouva endormis; et Il dit à Pierre: Ainsi, vous n'avez pas pu veiller une heure avec Moi?
41 Be vigilant and pray, so that you may not enter into temptation. Indeed, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”	41 Veillez et priez, afin que vous ne tombiez point dans la tentation. L'esprit est prompt, mais la chair est faible.
42 Again, a second time, he went and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this chalice cannot pass away, unless I drink it, let your will be done.”	42 Il S'en alla encore une seconde fois, et Il pria, en disant: Mon Père, si ce calice ne peut passer sans que Je le boive, que Votre volonté soit faite.
43 And again, he went and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.	43 Il revint de nouveau, et Il les trouva endormis; car leurs yeux étaient appesantis.
44 And leaving them behind, again he went and prayed for the third time, saying the same words.	44 Et les quittant, Il S'en alla encore, et Il pria pour la troisième fois, en disant les mêmes paroles.
45 Then he approached his disciples and said to them: “Sleep now and rest. Behold, the hour has drawn near, and the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of sinners.	45 Puis Il vint à Ses disciples, et leur dit: Dormez maintenant et reposez-vous; voici que l'heure approche, et le Fils de l'homme sera livré aux mains des pécheurs.
46 Rise up; let us go. Behold, he who will betray me draws near.”	46 Levez-vous, allons; voici que celui qui doit Me trahir approche.
47 While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, arrived, and with him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people.	47 Comme Il parlait encore, voici que Judas, l'un des douze, arriva, et avec Lui une foule nombreuse, armée d'épées et de bâtons, envoyée par les princes des prêtres et par les anciens du peuple.
48 And he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying: “Whomever I will kiss, it is he. Take hold of him.”	48 Or, celui qui Le trahissait leur avait donné un signe, en disant: Celui que je baiserai, c'est Lui; saisissez-Le.
49 And quickly drawing close to Jesus, he said, “Hail, Master.” And he kissed him.	49 Et aussitôt, s'approchant de Jésus, il dit: Je Vous salue, Maître. Et il Le baisa.
50 And Jesus said to him, “Friend, for what purpose have you come?” Then they approached, and they put their hands on Jesus, and they held him.	50 Jésus lui dit: Mon ami, pourquoi es-tu venu? Alors ils s'avancèrent, mirent les mains sur Jésus, et Le saisirent.
51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus, extending his hand, drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.	51 Et voici qu'un de ceux qui étaient avec Jésus, étendant la main, tira son épée, frappa le serviteur du grand prêtre, et lui coupa l'oreille.
52 Then Jesus said to him: “Put your sword back in its place. For all who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.	52 Alors Jésus lui dit: Remets ton épée à sa place, car tous ceux qui prendront l'épée périront par l'épée.
53 Or do you think that I cannot ask my Father, so that he would give me, even now, more than twelve legions of Angels?	53 Penses-tu que Je ne puisse pas prier Mon Père, qui M'enverrait à l'instant plus de douze légions d'Anges?
54 How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must be so?”	54 Comment donc s'accompliront les Ecritures, qui annoncent qu'il en doit être ainsi?
55 In that same hour, Jesus said to the crowds: “You went out, as if to a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me. Yet I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not take hold of me.	55 En même temps, Jésus dit à la foule: Vous êtes venus comme après un voleur, armés d'épées et de bâtons, pour vous emparer de Moi; tous les jours J'étais assis au milieu de vous, enseignant dans le temple, et vous ne M'avez pas arrêté.
56 But all this has happened so that the Scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples fled, abandoning him.	56 Mais tout cela s'est fait afin que ce que les prophètes ont écrit fût accompli. Alors tous les disciples, L'abandonnant, s'enfuirent.
57 But those who were holding Jesus led him to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had joined together.	57 Mais ceux qui avaient arrêté Jésus Le conduisirent chez Caïphe, le grand prêtre, où les scribes et les anciens s'étaient rassemblés.
58 Then Peter followed him from a distance, as far as the court of the high priest. And going inside, he sat down with the servants, so that he might see the end.	58 Or, Pierre Le suivait de loin, jusqu'à la cour du grand prêtre; et étant entré, il s'assit avec les serviteurs, pour voir la fin.
59 Then the leaders of the priests and the entire council sought false testimony against Jesus, so that they might deliver him to death.	59 Cependant les princes des prêtres et tout le conseil cherchaient un faux témoignage contre Jésus, pour Le faire mourir;
60 And they did not find any, even though many false witnesses had come forward. Then, at the very end, two false witnesses came forward,	60 et ils n'en trouvèrent point, quoique beaucoup de faux témoins se fussent présentés. Enfin il vint deux faux témoins,
61 and they said, “This man said: ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and, after three days, to rebuild it.’ ”	61 qui dirent: Celui-ci a dit: Je puis détruire le temple de Dieu, et le rebâtir en trois jours.
62 And the high priest, rising up, said to him, “Have you nothing to respond to what these ones testify against you?”	62 Alors le grand prêtre, se levant, Lui dit: Tu ne réponds rien à ce que ces hommes déposent contre Toi?
63 But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, “I bind you by an oath to the living God to tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”	63 Mais Jésus Se taisait. Et le grand prêtre Lui dit: Je T'adjure, par le Dieu vivant, de nous dire si Tu es le Christ, le Fils de Dieu.
64 Jesus said to him: “You have said it. Yet truly I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power of God, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”	64 Jésus lui répondit: Tu l'as dit. Car Je vous le dis, désormais vous verrez le Fils de l'homme assis à la droite de la puissance de Dieu, et venant sur les nuées du ciel.
65 Then the high priest tore his garments, saying: “He has blasphemed. Why do we still need witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy.	65 Alors le grand prêtre déchira ses vêtements, en disant: Il a blasphémé; qu'avons-nous encore de témoins? Voici que vous venez d'entendre le blasphème.
66 How does it seem to you?” So they responded by saying, “He is guilty unto death.”	66 Que vous en semble? Ils répondirent: Il mérite la mort.
67 Then they spit in his face, and they struck him with fists. And others struck his face with the palms of their hands,	67 Alors ils Lui crachèrent au visage, et ils Le frappèrent à coup de poing; d'autres Lui donnèrent des soufflets,
68 saying: “Prophesy for us, O Christ. Who is the one that struck you?”	68 en disant: Prophétise-nous, Christ; qui est-ce qui T'a frappé?
69 Yet truly, Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a maidservant approached him, saying, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.”	69 Cependant Pierre était assis dehors, dans la cour; et une servante s'approcha de lui, en disant: Toi aussi, Tu étais avec Jésus de Galilée.
70 But he denied it in the sight of them all, saying, “I do not know what you are saying.”	70 Mais il le nia devant tous, en disant: Je ne sais ce que tu dis.
71 Then, as he exited by the gate, another maidservant saw him. And she said to those who were there, “This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”	71 Et comme il franchissait la porte, une autre servante le vit, et dit à ceux qui étaient là: Celui-ci était aussi avec Jésus de Nazareth.
72 And again, he denied it with an oath, “For I do not know the man.”	72 Et il le nia de nouveau avec serment: Je ne connais point cet homme.
73 And after a little while, those who were standing nearby came and said to Peter: “Truly, you also are one of them. For even your manner of speaking reveals you.”	73 Peu après, ceux qui étaient là s'approchèrent, et dirent à Pierre: Certainement tu es aussi de ces gens-là; car ton langage te fait reconnaître.
74 Then he began to curse and to swear that he had not known the man. And immediately the rooster crowed.	74 Alors il se mit à faire des imprécations, et à jurer qu'il ne connaissait pas cet homme. Et aussitôt le coq chanta.
75 And Peter remembered the words of Jesus, which he had said: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And going outside, he wept bitterly.	75 Et Pierre se ressouvint de la parole que Jésus avait dite: Avant que le coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois. Et étant sorti dehors, il pleura amèrement.
