1 In that hour, the disciples drew near to Jesus, saying, “Whom do you consider to be greater in the kingdom of heaven?”	1 A cet instant les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus, et Lui dirent : Qui est le plus grand dans le royaume des Cieux ?
2 And Jesus, calling to himself a little child, placed him in their midst.	2 Jésus ayant appelé un petit enfant, le plaça au milieu d'eux,
3 And he said: “Amen I say to you, unless you change and become like little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.	3 et dit : En vérité, Je vous le dis, à moins que vous ne vous convertissiez, et que vous ne deveniez comme de petits enfants, vous n'entrerez pas dans le royaume des Cieux.
4 Therefore, whoever will have humbled himself like this little child, such a one is greater in the kingdom of heaven.	4 C'est pourquoi, quiconque se rendra humble comme cet enfant, sera le plus grand dans le royaume des Cieux.
5 And whoever shall accept one such little child in my name, accepts me.	5 Et quiconque reçoit en Mon nom un enfant comme celui-ci, Me reçoit Moi-même.
6 But whoever will have led astray one of these little ones, who trust in me, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck, and to be submerged in the depths of the sea.	6 Mais si quelqu'un scandalise un de ces petits qui croient en Moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu'on suspendit à son cou une de ces meules qu'un âne tourne, et qu'on le plongeât au fond de la mer.
7 Woe to a world that leads people astray! Although it is necessary for temptations to arise, nevertheless: Woe to that man through whom temptation arises!	7 Malheur au monde à cause des scandales ! Car il est nécessaire qu'il arrive des scandales ; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le scandale arrive !
8 So if your hand or your foot leads you to sin, cut it off and cast it away from you. It is better for you to enter into life disabled or lame, than to be sent into eternal fire having two hands or two feet.	8 Si ta main ou ton pied te scandalise, coupe-le, et jette-le loin de toi ; il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans la vie manchot ou boiteux, que d'avoir deux mains ou deux pieds, et d'être jeté dans le feu éternel.
9 And if your eye leads you to sin, root it out and cast it away from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, than to be sent into the fires of Hell having two eyes.	9 Et si ton œil te scandalise, arrache-le, et jette-le loin de toi ; il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans la vie n'ayant qu'unœil, que d'avoir deux yeux et d'être jeté dans la géhenne de feu.
10 See to it that you do not despise even one of these little ones. For I say to you, that their Angels in heaven continually look upon the face of my Father, who is in heaven.	10 Gardez-vous de mépriser aucun de ces petits ; car Je vous dis que leurs Anges dans le Ciel voient sans cesse la face de Mon Père qui est dans les Cieux.
11 For the Son of man has come to save what had been lost.	11 Car le Fils de l'homme est venu sauver ce qui était perdu.
12 How does it seem to you? If someone has one hundred sheep, and if one of them has gone astray, should he not leave behind the ninety-nine in the mountains, and go out to seek what has gone astray?	12 Que vous en semble ? Si un homme a cent brebis, et qu'une d'elles s'égare, ne laisse-t-il pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres sur les montagnes, pour aller chercher celle qui s'est égarée ?
13 And if he should happen to find it: Amen I say to you, that he has more joy over that one, than over the ninety-nine which did not go astray.	13 Et s'il arrive qu'il la trouve, en vérité, Je vous le dis, elle lui cause plus de joie que les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont point égarées.
14 Even so, it is not the will before your Father, who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should be lost.	14 De même, ce n'est pas la volonté de votre Père qui est dans les Cieux qu'un seul de ces petits périsse.
15 But if your brother has sinned against you, go and correct him, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you will have regained your brother.	15 Si ton frère a péché contre toi, va, et reprends-le entre toi et lui seul. S'il t'écoute, tu auras gagné ton frère.
16 But if he will not listen you, invite with you one or two more, so that every word may stand by the mouth of two or three witnesses.	16 Mais, s'il ne t'écoute pas, prends encore avec toi une ou deux personnes, afin que toute l'affaire soit réglée par l'autorité de deux ou trois témoins.
17 And if he will not listen to them, tell the Church. But if he will not listen to the Church, let him be to you like the pagan and the tax collector.	17 S'il ne les écoute pas, dis-le à l'Eglise ; et s'il n'écoute pas l'Eglise, qu'il soit pour toi comme un païen et un publicain.
18 Amen I say to you, whatever you will have bound on earth, shall be bound also in heaven, and whatever you will have released on earth, shall be released also in heaven.	18 En vérité, Je vous le dis, tout ce que vous lierez sur la terre sera lié aussi dans le Ciel, et tout ce que vous délierez sur la terre sera délié aussi dans le Ciel.
19 Again I say to you, that if two of those among you have agreed on earth, about anything whatsoever that they have requested, it shall be done for them by my Father, who is in heaven.	19 Je vous dis encore que si deux d'entre vous s'accordent sur la terre, quelque chose qu'ils demandent, ils l'obtiendront de Mon Père qui est dans les Cieux.
20 For wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there am I, in their midst.”	20 Car là où deux ou trois sont assemblés en Mon nom, Je suis au milieu d'eux.
21 Then Peter, drawing near to him, said: “Lord, how many times shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Even seven times?”	21 Alors Pierre, S'approchant de Lui, dit : Seigneur, combien de fois pardonnerai-je à mon frère, lorsqu'il aura péché contre moi ? Sera-ce jusqu'à sept fois ?
22 Jesus said to him: “I do not say to you, even seven times, but even seventy times seven times.	22 Jésus lui dit : Je ne te dis pas jusqu'à sept fois, mais jusqu'à soixante-dix fois sept fois.
23 Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is compared to a man who was king, who wanted to take account of his servants.	23 C'est pourquoi le royaume des Cieux a été comparé à un roi, qui voulut faire rendre leurs comptes à ses serviteurs.
24 And when he had begun taking account, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.	24 Et lorsqu'il eut commencé à faire rendre compte, on lui en présenta un qui lui devait dix mille talents.
25 But since he did not have any way to repay it, his lord ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children, and all that he had, in order to repay it.	25 Mais, comme il n'avait pas de quoi les rendre, son maître ordonna qu'on le vendit, lui, sa femme et ses enfants, et tout ce qu'il avait, pour acquitter la dette.
26 But that servant, falling prostrate, begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will repay it all to you.’	26 Ce serviteur, se jetant à ses pieds, le priait, en disant : Ayez patience envers moi, et je vous rendrai tout.
27 Then the lord of that servant, being moved with pity, released him, and he forgave his debt.	27 Touché de compassion, le maître de ce serviteur le laissa aller, et lui remit sa dette.
28 But when that servant departed, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him one hundred denarius. And taking hold of him, he choked him, saying: ‘Repay what you owe.’	28 Mais ce serviteur, étant sorti, trouva un de ses compagnons qui lui devait cent deniers, et le saisissant, il l'étouffait en disant : Rends-moi ce que tu me dois.
29 And his fellow servant, falling prostrate, petitioned him, saying: ‘Have patience with me, and I will repay it all to you.’	29 Et son compagnon, se jetant à ses pieds, le priait, en disant : Aie patience envers moi, et je te rendrai tout.
30 But he was not willing. Instead, he went out and had him sent to prison, until he would repay the debt.	30 Mais il ne voulut pas ; et il s'en alla, et le fit mettre en prison, jusqu'à ce qu'il lui rendît ce qu'il devait.
31 Now his fellow servants, seeing what was done, were greatly saddened, and they went and reported to their lord all that was done.	31 Les autres serviteurs, ayant vu ce qui était arrivé, en furent vivement attristés, et ils allèrent raconter à leur maître tout ce qui s'était passé.
32 Then his lord called him, and he said to him: ‘You wicked servant, I forgave you all your debt, because you pleaded with me.	32 Alors son maître le fit appeler, et lui dit : Méchant serviteur, je t'ai remis toute ta dette, parce que tu m'en avais prié ;
33 Therefore, should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I also had compassion on you?’	33 ne fallait-il donc pas avoir pitié, toi aussi, de ton compagnon, comme j'avais eu pitié de toi ?
34 And his lord, being angry, handed him over to the torturers, until he repaid the entire debt.	34 Et son maître, irrité, le livra aux bourreaux, jusqu'à ce qu'il payât tout ce qu'il devait.
35 So, too, shall my heavenly Father do to you, if each one of you will not forgive his brother from your hearts.”	35 C'est ainsi que Mon Père céleste vous traitera, si chacun de vous ne pardonne pas à son frère de tout son cœur.
