Bride: "I am a flower of the open field and a lily of the steep valleys."1 Soy un narciso de la llanura, | una rosa de los valles.
Groom: "Like a lily among the thorns, so is my loved one among the daughters."2 Como rosa entre espinas | es mi amada entre las mozas.
Bride to Chorus: "Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat beneath the shadow of the one whom I desired, and his fruit was sweet to my palate."3 Como manzano entre árboles silvestres, | es mi amado entre los mozos: | desearía yacer a su sombra, | pues su fruto me es dulce al paladar.
"He brought me into the storeroom of wine. He set charity in order within me."4 Me llevó al banquete, | y enarboló sobre mí la bandera de su amor.
"Prop me up with flowers. Close me in with apples. For I languish through love."5 Tendedme entre las tortas de pasa, | recostadme entre las manzanas, | porque estoy enferma de amor.
"His left hand is under my head, and his right hand shall embrace me."6 Su izquierda bajo mi cabeza | y su diestra me abraza.
Groom to Chorus: "I bind you by oath, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the does and the stags of the open field, not to disturb or awaken the beloved, even for as long as she wills."7 Os conjuro, muchachas de Jerusalén, | por las gacelas y las ciervas del campo, | que no despertéis ni desveléis a la amada | hasta que ella quiera.
Bride to Chorus: "The voice of my beloved! Behold, he arrives leaping along the mountains, jumping across the hills."8 ¡Un rumor…! ¡Mi amado! | Vedlo, aquí llega, | saltando por los montes, | brincando por las colinas.
"My beloved is like a doe and like a young stag."9 Es mi amado un gamo, | parece un cervatillo. | Vedlo parado tras la cerca, | mirando por la ventana, | atisbando por la celosía.
"Lo, he stands beyond our wall, gazing through the windows, watching through the lattices."10 Habla mi amado y me dice: | «Levántate, amada mía, | hermosa mía y ven».
"Lo, my beloved speaks to me:"11 Mira, el invierno ya ha pasado, | las lluvias cesaron, se han ido.
Groom to Bride: "Rise up, quickly, my love, my dove, my shapely one, and advance."12 Brotan las flores en el campo, | llega la estación de la poda, | el arrullo de la tórtola | se oye en nuestra tierra.
"For winter has now past; the rain has decreased and gone away."13 En la higuera despuntan las yemas, | las viñas en flor exhalan su perfume. | «Levántate, amada mía, | hermosa mía, y vente».
"The flowers have appeared in our land; the time for pruning has arrived. The voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land."14 Paloma mía, en las oquedades de la roca, | en el escondrijo escarpado, | déjame ver tu figura, | déjame escuchar tu voz: | es muy dulce tu voz | y fascinante tu figura.
"The fig tree has brought forth its green figs; the flowering vines bestow their odor. Rise up, my love, my brilliant one, and advance."15 «Atrapadnos las raposas, | las raposas pequeñitas, | que devastan nuestras viñas, | nuestras viñas floridas».
"My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hollows of the wall, reveal to me your face. Let your voice sound in my ears. For your voice is sweet, and your face is graceful."16 Mi amado es mío y yo suya, | ¡se deleita entre las rosas!
Bride to Groom: "Return, O my beloved. Be like a doe and like a young stag upon the mountains of Bether."17 Hasta que surja el día | y huyan las tinieblas, | ronda, amado mío, | sé como un gamo, | aseméjate a un cervatillo | sobre las colinas de Beter.
