CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
A Canticle in steps. They have often fought against me from my youth, let Israel now say:1 A song of ascents. Happy are all who fear the LORD, who walk in the ways of God.
they have often fought against me from my youth, yet they could not prevail over me.2 What your hands provide you will enjoy; you will be happy and prosper:
The sinners have made fabrications behind my back. They have prolonged their iniquity.3 Like a fruitful vine your wife within your home, Like olive plants your children around your table.
The just Lord will cut the necks of sinners.4 Just so will they be blessed who fear the LORD.
Let all those who hate Zion be confounded and turned backwards.5 May the LORD bless you from Zion, all the days of your life That you may share Jerusalem's joy
Let them be like grass on the rooftops, which withers before it can be pulled up:6 and live to see your children's children. Peace upon Israel!
with it, he who reaps does not fill his hand and he who gathers sheaves does not fill his bosom.
And those who were passing by have not said to them: “The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We have blessed you in the name of the Lord.”
