A Canticle in steps. They have often fought against me from my youth, let Israel now say:1 Canto delle salite.Beato chi teme il Signoree cammina nelle sue vie.
they have often fought against me from my youth, yet they could not prevail over me.2 Della fatica delle tue mani ti nutrirai, sarai felice e avrai ogni bene.
The sinners have made fabrications behind my back. They have prolonged their iniquity.3 La tua sposa come vite fecondanell’intimità della tua casa;i tuoi figli come virgulti d’ulivointorno alla tua mensa.
The just Lord will cut the necks of sinners.4 Ecco com’è benedettol’uomo che teme il Signore.
Let all those who hate Zion be confounded and turned backwards.5 Ti benedica il Signore da Sion.Possa tu vedere il bene di Gerusalemmetutti i giorni della tua vita!
Let them be like grass on the rooftops, which withers before it can be pulled up:6 Possa tu vedere i figli dei tuoi figli!Pace su Israele!
with it, he who reaps does not fill his hand and he who gathers sheaves does not fill his bosom.
And those who were passing by have not said to them: “The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We have blessed you in the name of the Lord.”
