1 But Baldad the Suhite, responding, said:	1 Allora Bildad il suchita prese la parola e disse:
2 How long will you speak this way, so that the words of your mouth are like a changeable wind?	2 "Fino a quando dirai simili cose, e un vento impetuoso saranno le parole della tua bocca?
3 Does God supplant judgment, or does the Almighty subvert that which is just?	3 Può forse Dio far deviare il giudizio, e l'Onnipotente sconvolgere la giustizia?
4 And if now your children have sinned against him, and he has dismissed them into the power of their iniquity,	4 Se i tuoi figli hanno peccato contro di lui, egli li ha abbandonati alla loro iniquità.
5 even so, you should arise early to God, so as to beseech the Almighty.	5 Se tu ricercherai Dio, e implorerai l'Onnipotente,
6 If you approach with purity and honesty, he will quickly be attentive to you, and a peaceful life will repay your righteousness,	6 se sei onesto e retto, certamente fin d'ora veglierà su di te e ti ristabilirà nella tua giustizia.
7 so much so that, if your former things were small, your latter things would be multiplied greatly.	7 La tua primitiva condizione sarà poca cosa accanto al tuo magnifico futuro.
8 For inquire of the earliest generation, and investigate diligently the history of the fathers,	8 Interroga, di grazia, le generazioni passate e rifletti sull'esperienza dei loro padri;
9 (of course, we are but of yesterday and are ignorant that our days on earth are like a shadow,)	9 noi infatti siamo di ieri e non sappiamo nulla, poiché i nostri giorni sulla terra sono come un'ombra.
10 and they will teach you; they will speak with you and will offer you the eloquence of their hearts.	10 Ma essi ti istruiranno, ti informeranno traendo le parole dal loro cuore.
11 Can the marsh plant live without moisture? Or can sedges grow without water?	11 Cresce forse il papiro fuori della palude e si sviluppa forse il giunco senz'acqua?
12 When it is still in flower, and has not been pulled up by hand, it withers before all other plants.	12 Ancora in germoglio, non buono per tagliarlo, si secca prima di tutte le altre verdure.
13 Just so are the ways of all who forget God, and the hope of the hypocrite will perish.	13 Tale è il destino di coloro che dimenticano Dio, e così svanisce la speranza dell'empio.
14 His frenzy will not please him, and his faith will be like a spider’s web.	14 La sua fiducia è come un filo e una tela di ragno è la sua sicurezza.
15 He will lean on his house, and it will not stand; he will prop it up, but it will not rise.	15 Cerca appoggio sulla sua casa, ma essa non tiene, vi si aggrappa, ma essa non regge.
16 He seems to have moisture before the sun arrives; and at sunrise, his sprout shoots forth.	16 E' albero rigoglioso in faccia al sole e sopra il giardino si spandono i suoi rami;
17 His roots will crowd together over a heap of stones, and among the stones he will remain.	17 le sue radici s'intrecciano nella pietraia, esplora i crepacci delle rocce.
18 If someone is devoured right beside him, he will deny him and will say: “I do not know you.”	18 Ma se lo si strappa dal suo posto, questo lo rinnega: "Non ti ho mai visto".
19 For this is the benefit of his way, that others in turn may spring up from the earth.	19 Ecco la sorte della sua vita, mentre altri rispuntano dalla terra.
20 God will not discard the simple, nor will he extend his hand to the spiteful,	20 Vedi, Dio non rigetta l'uomo integro né presta man forte ai malfattori.
21 even until your mouth is filled with laughter and your lips with rejoicing.	21 Può ancora colmare la tua bocca di sorriso e le tue labbra di giubilo.
22 Those who hate you, will be clothed with confusion, and the tabernacle of the impious will not continue.	22 Coloro che ti odiano saranno coperti di vergogna e la tenda degli empi sparirà".
