1 Then all those greater by birth of Israel, with the leaders of the tribes and the rulers of the families of the sons of Israel, gathered together before king Solomon at Jerusalem, so that they might carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, from the city of David, that is, from Zion.	1 Então todos os anciães de Israel com os príncipes das tribos e os chefes das famílias dos filhos de Israel, reuniram-se junto do rei Salomão em Jerusalém, para trasladarem a arca da aliança do Senhor da cidade de Davide, isto é, de Sião.
2 And all of Israel assembled before king Solomon, on the solemn day in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month.	2 Todo o Israel se reuniu junto do rei Salomão no dia solene do mês de Etanim, que é o sétimo mês.
3 And all the elders of Israel arrived, and the priests took up the ark.	3 Vieram todos os anciães de Israel, e os sacerdotes tomaram a arca.
4 And they carried the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of the covenant, and all the vessels of the Sanctuary, which were in the tabernacle; and the priests and the Levites carried these.	4 Levaram a arca do Senhor, o tabernáculo da reunião e todos os vasos do santuário, que havia no tabernáculo. Os sacerdotes e Levitas os leva­vam
5 Then king Solomon, and the entire multitude of Israel, who had assembled before him, advanced with him before the ark. And they immolated sheep and oxen, which could not be numbered or estimated.	5 O rei Salomão e todo o povo de Israel, que se tinha reunido junto dele, iam diante da arca, e imolavam ovelhas e bois, sem preço e sem número.
6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, into the oracle of the temple, in the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim.	6 Os sacerdotes puseram a arca da aliança do Senhor no seu lugar, no santuário do templo, no Santo dos Santos, debaixo das asas dos querubins.
7 For indeed, the cherubim extended their wings over the place of the ark, and they protected the ark and its bars from above.	7 Os querubins tinham as asas estendidas sobre o lugar da arca, e cobriam por cima a arca e os seus varais.
8 And since the bars projected outward, their ends were visible from without, in the Sanctuary before the oracle; but they were not visible farther outward. And they have been in that place even to the present day.	8 Os varais (foram feitos de maneira que) sobressaíam, deixando ver os seus cabos do lugar santo, diante do santuário, mas não fora, e assim ficaram ali até ao dia de hoje.
9 Now inside the ark, there was nothing other than the two tablets of stone, which Moses had placed in it at Horeb, when the Lord formed a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they departed from the land of Egypt.	9 Na arca não havia senão as duas tábuas de pedra, que Moisés tinha metido nela em Horeb, quando o Senhor fez aliança com os filhos de Israel, logo que saíram da terra do Egipto.
10 Then it happened that, when the priests had exited from the Sanctuary, a cloud filled the house of the Lord.	10 Aconteceu que, quando os sacerdotes saíram do santuário, uma névoa encheu a casa do Senhor,
11 And the priests were unable to stand and minister, because of the cloud. For the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.	11 e os sacerdotes não podiam ter-se em pé nem fazer as funções do seu ministério, por causa da névoa, porque a glória do Senhor tinha enchido a casa do Senhor.
12 Then Solomon said: “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a cloud.	12 Então disse Salomão: O Senhor declarou que habitaria na obscuridade.
13 Building, I have built a house as your dwelling place, your most firm throne forever.”	13 Eu edifiquei (ó Deus) esta casa para tua morada, para teu trono firmíssimo para sempre.
14 And the king turned his face, and he blessed the entire assembly of Israel. For the entire assembly of Israel was standing.	14 Depois o rei voltou o seu rosto e abençoou todo o ajuntamento de Israel, porque todo o ajuntamento de Israel estava ali.
15 And Solomon said: “Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to my father David, and who, with his own hands, has perfected it, saying:	15 Salomão disse: Bem-dito seja o Senhor Deus de Israel, que falou pela sua boca a meu pai Davide e que, pelo seu poder, cumpriu a sua palavra, quando disse:
16 ‘From the day when I led my people Israel away from Egypt, I did not choose any city out of all the tribes of Israel, so that a house would be built, and so that my name might be there. Instead, I chose David to be over my people Israel.’	16 Desde o dia em que eu tirei do Egipto o meu povo de Israel, não escolhi cidade alguma de todas as tribos de Israel, pára que me fosse edificada nela uma casa onde se invocasse o meu nome, mas escolhi Davide para ser o chefe do meu povo de Israel.
17 And my father David wanted to build a house to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.	17 Ora o meu pai Davide quis edificar uma casa ao nome do Senhor Deus de Israel.
18 But the Lord said to my father David: ‘Since you have planned in your heart to build a house to my name, you have done well by considering this plan in your mind.	18 Porém o Senhor disse a Davide, meu pai: Quando tu no teu coração intentaste edificar uma casa ao meu nome, fizeste bem, formando tal intenção.
19 Yet truly, you shall not build a house for me. Instead, your son, who shall go forth from your loins, he himself shall build a house to my name.’	19 Todavia, tu não edificarás uma casa, mas teu filho, que descenderá de ti, esse edificará um a casa ao meu nome.
20 The Lord has confirmed his word which he spoke. And so I stand in place of my father David, and I sit upon the throne of Israel, just as the Lord said. And I have built a house to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.	20 O Senhor cumpriu a palavra que lhe disse: eu fiquei em lugar de Davide, meu pai, sentei-me sobre o trono de Israel, como o Senhor tinha dito, e edifiquei um a casa ao nome do Senhor Deus de Israel.
21 And there I have appointed a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord that he struck with our fathers, when they went forth from the land of Egypt.”	21 Nela escolhi o lugar para a arca, dentro da qual está (a lei que é) a aliança que o Senhor fez com os nossos pais, quando saíram da terra do Egipto.
22 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord, in the sight of the assembly of Israel, and he extended his hands toward heaven.	22 Depois pôs-se Salomão diante do altar do Senhor, à vista do ajuntamento de Israel, estendeu as suas mãos para o céu
23 And he said: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, nor on the earth below. You preserve covenant and mercy with your servants, who walk before you with all their heart.	23 e disse: Senhor Deus de Israel, não há Deus semelhante a ti, nem no mais alto do céu, nem cá embaixo sobre a terra; tu conservas o pacto e a misericórdia para com os teus servos, que caminham diante de ti, de todo o seu coração,
24 You have fulfilled, for your servant David, my father, that which you said to him. With your mouth, you spoke; and with your hands, you completed; just this day proves.	24 como cumpriste para com teu servo Davide, meu pai, o que lhe prometeste; o que lhe disseste por tua boca, realizaste-o pelas tuas mãos, como o prova este dia.
25 Now therefore, O Lord God of Israel, fulfill, for your servant David, my father, that which you spoke to him, saying, ‘There shall not be taken away from you a man before me, who may sit upon the throne of Israel, if only your sons will guard their way, so that they walk before me, just as you have walked in my sight.’	25 Agora, pois, Senhor Deus de Israel, conserva ao teu servo Davide, meu pai, o que lhe prometeste, quando disseste: Não te faltarão descendentes, que diante de mim se sentem sobre o trono de Israel, contanto, todavia, que teus filhos guardem os teus caminhos, andando em minha presença, como tu andaste diante de mim.
26 And now, O Lord God of Israel, establish your words, which you spoke to your servant David, my father.	26 Senhor Deus de Israel, cumpram-se presentemente as palavras que disseste ao teu servo Davide, meu pai.
27 Is it, then, to be understood that truly God would dwell upon the earth? For if heaven, and the heavens of heavens, are not able to contain you, how much less this house, which I have built?	27 Mas, é crível que Deus habite verdadeiramente sobre a terra? Com efeito, se o céu e o céu dos céus te não podem conter, quanto menos esta casa que eu edifiquei?
28 Yet look with favor upon the prayer of your servant and upon his petitions, O Lord, my God. Listen to the hymn and the prayer, which your servant prays before you this day,	28 Todavia atende. Senhor Deus meu, à oração do teu servo e às suas súplicas; ouve o hino e a oração que o teu servo faz hoje em tua presença,
29 so that your eyes may be open over this house, night and day, over the house about which you said, ‘My name shall be there,’ so that you may heed the prayer that your servant is praying in this place to you.	29 tendo os teus olhos abertos de noite e de dia sobre esta casa, da qual disseste: O meu nome estará nela. Ouve a oração, que o teu servo te faz neste lugar,
30 So may you heed the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel, whatever they will pray for in this place, and so may you heed them in your dwelling place in heaven. And when you heed, you will be gracious.	30 ouve a súplica do teu servo e do teu povo de Israel, quando orarem neste lugar; sim, tu ouvirás do lugar da tua morada no céu, e, tendo ouvido, lhes serás propício.
31 But if any man sins against his neighbor, and he has any kind of an oath by which he is bound, and he arrives because of the oath, before your altar in your house,	31 Quando algum homem pecar contra o seu próximo, e, fazendo-o jurar, for tomado o juramento diante do teu altar, neste teu templo,
32 you will hear in heaven, and you will act and judge your servants, condemning the impious, and repaying his own way upon his own head, but justifying the just, and rewarding him in accord with his justice.	32 tu o ouvirás do céu e farás Justiça a teus servos, condenando o ímpio, fazendo recair a sua perfídia sobre a sua cabeça, e justificarás o justo, retribuindo-lhe conforme a sua justiça.
33 And if your people Israel will have fled from their enemies, because they have sinned against you, and doing penance and confessing to your name, shall arrive and pray and petition you in this house,	33 Quando o teu povo de Israel fugir diante dos seus inimigos, (como castigo) por haver pecado contra ti, se, fazendo penitência e dando glória ao teu nome, vierem (seus filhos) e orarem e te suplicarem nesta casa,
34 listen in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and lead them back to the land, which you gave to their fathers.	34 ouve-os do céu, perdoa o pecado do teu povo de Israel, e torna-os a levar à terra que deste a seus pais.
35 And if the heavens have closed, so that there is no rain, because of their sins, and they, praying in this place, shall do penance to your name, and shall be converted from their sins, by occasion of their afflictions,	35 Quando o céu se fechar e não cair chuva alguma, por causa dos seus pecados, se eles, orando neste lugar, fizerem penitência, em honra do teu nome, e se converterem dos seus pecados por causa da sua aflição,
36 hear them from heaven, and forgive the sins of your servants and of your people Israel. And reveal to them the good way, along which they should walk, and grant rain upon your land, which you have given to your people as a possession.	36 ouve-os do céu, perdoa os pecados de teus servos, do teu povo de Israel, mostra-lhes o caminho direito, por onde devem andar, e derrama chuva sobre (esta) tua terra, que deste como herança ao teu povo.
37 Then, if famine rises over the land, or pestilence, or corrupt air, or blight, or locust, or mildew, or if their enemy afflicts them, besieging the gates, or any harm or infirmity,	37 Quando vier sobre a terra fome, peste, ou corrução do ar, ou ferrugem, ou gafanhoto, ou qualquer humor maligno; quando o teu povo for cercado pelo seu inimigo nas suas cidades; quando houver qualquer praga ou qualquer enfermidade,
38 or whatever curse or divine intervention may happen to any man among your people Israel, if anyone understands, having been wounded in his heart, and if he will have extended his hands in this house,	38 se cada um, se todo o teu povo de Israel recorrer a ti com votos e súplicas, se, reconhecendo a chaga de seu coração (causada pelo pecado), levantar as suas mãos para ti nesta casa,
39 you will hear in heaven, in your dwelling place, and you will forgive. And you will act so that you give to each one in accord with his own ways, just as you see in his heart, for you alone know the heart of all the sons of men.	39 ouve-os do céu, do lugar da tua morada, e perdoa-lhes. Faze de modo a dar a cada um conforme todas as suas obras, segundo vires o seu coração (porque só tu conheces o interior dos corações de todos os filhos dos homens),
40 So may they fear you, all the days that they live upon the face of the land, which you have given to our fathers.	40 para que eles tenham temor de ti durante todo o tempo que viverem sobre a face da terra que tu deste a nossos pais.
41 Moreover, the foreigner too, who is not of your people Israel, when he will have arrived from a distant land because of your name, for they shall hear about your great name, and your strong hand,	41 Também, quando algum estrangeiro, que não é do teu povo de Israel, vier de algum país remoto, por causa do teu nome (porque ouvirá falar da grandeza do teu nome, da força da tua mão e do poder do teu braço estendido),
42 and your outstretched arm everywhere: so when he arrives and prays in this place,	42 quando vier fazer oração neste lugar,
43 you will listen in heaven, in the firmament of your dwelling place. And you will do all the things, for which that foreigner will have called upon you. So may all the peoples of the earth learn to fear your name, just as your people Israel do. And so may they show that your name has been invoked over this house, which I have built.	43 tu o ouvirás do céu, das alturas da tua morada, e farás tudo o que o estrangeiro te pedir. Assim todos os, povos da terra aprenderão a temer o teu nome, como faz o teu povo de Israel, e saberão que o teu nome é invocado sobre esta casa, que eu edifiquei.
44 And if your people have gone out to war against their enemies, along whatever way you will send them, they shall pray to you in the direction of the city, which you have chosen, and toward the house, which I have built to your name.	44 Quando o teu povo sair à guerra contra o seus inimigos, indo pelo caminho, pelo qual tu o tiveres mandado, se te fizerem as suas preces com o rosto voltado para a cidade, que tu escolheste, e para a casa que edifiquei ao teu nome,
45 And you will hear in heaven their prayers and their petitions. And you will accomplish judgment for them.	45 tu também ouvirás do céu as suas orações e as suas preces, e lhes farás justiça.
46 But if they sin against you, for there is no man who does not sin, and you, being angry, deliver them to their enemies, and they will have been led away as captives to the land of their enemies, whether far or near,	46 Porém, quando pecarem contra ti (porque não há homem que não peque), e tu, irado, os entregares nas mãos de seus inimigos, quando eles forem levados cativos, ou perto ou longe, para terra inimiga,
47 and if they do penance in their heart, in the place of captivity, and having been converted, make supplication to you in their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned; we acted unjustly; we committed impiety,’	47 se fizerem penitência do íntimo do seu coração, no lugar do seu cativeiro, e, convertidos, te suplicarem no seu cativeiro, desta forma: Nós pecamos, nós cometemos a iniquidade, nós procedemos impiamente
48 and they return to you with all their heart and all their soul, in the land of their enemies, to which they have been led away as captives, and if they pray to you in the direction of their land, which you gave to their fathers, and of the city, which you have chosen, and of the temple, which I have built to your name:	48 se eles se voltarem para ti de todo o seu coração e de toda a sua alma, na terra de seus inimigos, para onde foram levados cativos, se orarem voltados para a terra que tu deste a seus pais, para a cidade que escolheste e para o templo que eu edifiquei ao teu nome,
49 you will hear in heaven, in the firmament of your throne, their prayers and their petitions. And you will accomplish their judgment.	49 escuta do céu, do firmamento do teu trono, as suas orações e as suas preces, e defende a sua causa.
50 And you will forgive your people, who have sinned against you, and all their iniquities, by which they have transgressed against you. And you will grant to them mercy in the sight of those who have made them captives, so that they may take pity on them.	50 Mostra-te propício ao teu povo, que pecou contra ti, e perdoa todas as iniquidades, que tiverem cometido contra ti. Inspira ternura aos que os levarem cativos, para terem compaixão deles,
51 For they are your people and your inheritance, whom you have led away from the land of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron.	51 porque eles são o teu povo e a tua herança, que tiraste da terra do Egipto, do meio duma fornalha (ou crisol) de ferro.
52 So may your eyes be open to the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel. And so may you heed them in all the things about which they will call upon you.	52 Os teus olhos estejam abertos às súplicas dos teus servos e do teu povo de Israel, para os ouvires em tudo aquilo por que eles te invocaram,
53 For you have separated them to yourself as an inheritance, from among all the peoples of the earth, just as you spoke by Moses, your servant, when you led our fathers away from Egypt, O Lord God.”	53 visto que tu, ó Senhor Deus, os separaste de todos os povos da terra para tua herança, como o declaraste por meio de teu servo Moisés, quando tiraste os nossos pais do Egipto.
54 And it happened that, when Solomon had completed praying this entire prayer and supplication to the Lord, he rose up from the sight of the altar of the Lord. For he had fixed both knees upon the ground, and he had extended his hands toward heaven.	54 Quando Salomão acabou de fazer ao Senhor toda esta oração e esta súplica, levantou-se de diante do altar do Senhor, porque ele havia posto ambos os joelhos em terra e tinha as mãos estendidas para o céu.
55 Then he stood and blessed the entire assembly of Israel in a great voice, saying:	55 Pôs-se em pé e abençoou todo o ajuntamento de Israel, dizendo em voz alta:
56 “Blessed is the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel, in accord with all that he said. Not even one word, out of all the good things that he spoke by his servant Moses, has fallen away.	56 Bem-dito seja o Senhor, que deu descanso ao seu povo de Israel, conforme todas as promessas que tinha feito: não falhou, nem sequer numa palavra em cumprir o que nos tinha prometido por meio do seu servo Moisés.
57 May the Lord our God be with us, just as he was with our fathers, not abandoning us, and not rejecting us.	57 O Senhor nosso Deus seja conosco, como foi com nossos pais, não nos desamparando, nem nos afastando de si,
58 But may he incline our hearts to himself, so that we may walk in all his ways, and keep his commandments, and his ceremonies, and whatever judgments he commanded to our fathers.	58 que incline os nossos corações para ele, a fim de que andemos em todos os seus caminhos, e guardemos as leis, os mandamentos e ordenações que ele prescreveu a nossos pais.
59 And may these my words, by which I have prayed before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God, day and night, so that he may accomplish judgment for his servant and for his people Israel, throughout each day.	59 Oxalá que estas minhas palavras, com que acabo de orar ao Senhor, estejam presentes de dia e de noite diante do Senhor, nosso Deus, para que todos os dias ele faça justiça ao seu servo e ao seu povo de Israel.
60 So may all the peoples of the earth know that the Lord himself is God, and there is no other beside him.	60 Assim todos os povos da terra saberão que ele, o Senhor, é Deus, e que não há outro fora dele.
61 Also, may our hearts be perfect with the Lord our God, so that we may walk in his decrees, and keep his commandments, as also on this day.”	61 Que o vosso coração seja todo para o Senhor, nosso Deus a fim de andardes segundo os seus decretos e guardardes os seus mandamentos, como fazeis hoje.
62 Then the king, and all of Israel with him, immolated victims before the Lord.	62 O rei e todo o Israel imolaram vitimas diante do Senhor.
63 And Solomon slew sacrifices of peace offerings, which he immolated to the Lord: twenty-two thousand oxen, and twenty thousand one hundred sheep. And the king and all the sons of Israel dedicated the temple of the Lord.	63 Salomão imolou, para o sacrifício pacífico que ofereceu ao Senhor, vinte e dois mil bois, e cento e vinte mil ovelhas. Assim o rei com os filhos de Israel dedicaram o templo do Senhor.
64 On that day, the king sanctified the middle of the atrium, which was before the house of the Lord. For in that place, he offered holocaust, and sacrifice, and the fat of peace offerings. For the bronze altar, which was before the Lord, was too small and was not able to hold the holocaust, and the sacrifice, and the fat of the peace offerings.	64 Naquele dia o rei consagrou o meio do átrio, que estava diante da casa do Senhor, pois ofereceu ali holocaustos e sacrifícios, e as banhas das hóstias pacíficas, porque o altar de bronze, que estava diante do Senhor, era pequeno, e não podiam caber nele os holocaustos e os sacrifícios, e as banhas das hóstias pacíficas.
65 Then Solomon made, at that time, a celebratory festival, and all of Israel with him, a great multitude, from the entrance of Hamath to the river of Egypt, in the sight of the Lord our God, for seven days plus seven days, that is, fourteen days.	65 Tal foi a festa que Salomão celebrou nesse tempo, e todo o Israel com ele, tendo concorrido gente em grande número desde a entrada de Emat até a o rio do Egipto, diante do Senhor, nosso Deus, durante sete dias, e (em seguida) durante outros sete dias, isto é, durante catorze dias.
66 And on the eighth day, he dismissed the people. And blessing the king, they set out for their tents, rejoicing and cheerful in heart over all the good things that the Lord had done for his servant David and for his people Israel.	66 Ao dia oitavo (desta última festa), despediu os povos, os quais abençoando o rei, voltaram para suas tendas, alegres, com o coração contente, por todos os bens que o Senhor tinha feito a Davide, seu servo, e a Israel, seu povo.
