Ruth 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Her mother-in-law Naomi then said, 'Daughter, is it not my duty to see you happily settled?	1 Noemi, sua suocera, disse a Rut: "Figlia mia, non devo io forse cercarti una sistemazione, nella quale tu possa trovarti bene?
2 And Boaz, the man with whose work-women you were, is he not our kinsman? Tonight he wil bewinnowing the barley on the threshing-floor.	2 Orbene Booz, con le serve del quale sei stata, non è forse nostro parente? Ecco, egli vaglia l'orzo nell'aia questa sera.
3 So wash and perfume yourself, put on your cloak and go down to the threshing-floor. Don't let himrecognise you while he is stil eating and drinking.	3 Tu lavati, ungiti, mettiti il mantello e scendi nell'aia. Non farti vedere da lui fino a che non abbia finito di mangiare e di bere;
4 But when he lies down, take note where he lies, then go and turn back the covering at his feet and lie down yourself. He wil tell you what to do.'	4 e quando si sarà coricato, osserva in quale luogo egli si sarà coricato, poi va', e scoprilo dai piedi e coricati tu stessa. Egli poi ti dirà quello che devi fare".
5 Ruth said, 'I shal do everything you tel me.'	5 Rut le disse: "Farò tutto quello che mi hai detto".
6 So she went down to the threshing-floor and did everything her mother-in-law had told her.	6 Scese infatti Rut nell'aia e fece tutto come le aveva ordinato la suocera.
7 When Boaz had finished eating and drinking, he went off happily and lay down beside the pile of barley.Ruth then quietly went, turned back the covering at his feet and lay down.	7 Booz mangiò e bevve e il suo cuore si rallegrò e andò a coricarsi al limite del mucchio di orzo. Ella venne piano piano, raggiunse il posto dei suoi piedi e si coricò.
8 In the middle of the night, he woke up with a shock and looked about him; and there lying at his feet wasa woman.	8 Avvenne che a mezzanotte l'uomo si riscosse e guardò in giro ed ecco: una donna giaceva ai suoi piedi!
9 'Who are you?' he said; and she replied, 'I am your servant Ruth. Spread the skirt of your cloak overyour servant for you have the right of redemption over me.'	9 Allora egli disse: "Chi sei?". Ella rispose: "Sono Rut, tua serva; stendi il lembo del tuo mantello sulla tua serva, perché tu sei il mio riscattatore".
10 'May Yahweh bless you, daughter,' he said, 'for this second act of faithful love of yours is greater thanthe first, since you have not run after young men, poor or rich.	10 Egli disse: "Benedetta sia tu dal Signore, figlia mia; il tuo secondo atto di pietà è migliore del primo, perché non sei andata dietro ai giovani, poveri o ricchi che fossero.
11 Don't be afraid, daughter, I shal do everything you ask, since the people at the gate of my town allknow that you are a woman of great worth.	11 Ora, figlia mia, non temere; tutto quello che dici io te lo farò, perché tutti nel mio popolo sanno che tu sei una donna virtuosa.
12 But, though it is true that I have the right of redemption over you, you have a kinsman closer thanmyself.	12 Ora, sì, veramente, io sono il riscattatore; ma c'è un altro riscattatore più vicino di me.
13 Stay here for tonight and, in the morning, if he wishes to exercise his right over you, very wel , let himredeem you. But if he does not wish to do so, then as Yahweh lives, I shal redeem you. Lie here til morning.'	13 Resta qui questa notte e domani mattina: se egli vorrà riscattarti, bene, ti riscatti; ma se non vorrà riscattarti, ti riscatterò io, per la vita del Signore! Resta coricata fino al mattino".
14 So she lay at his feet til morning, but got up before the hour when one man can recognise another;and he thought, 'It must not be known that this woman came to the threshing-floor.'	14 Ella restò coricata ai suoi piedi fino al mattino, poi si alzò prima che si potesse distinguere una persona dall'altra ed egli le disse: "Che non si sappia che una donna è venuta nell'aia".
15 He then said, 'Let me have the cloak you are wearing, hold it out!' She held it out while he put sixmeasures of barley into it and then loaded it on to her; and off she went to the town.	15 Poi aggiunse: "Stendi il mantello che hai indosso e afferralo bene"; ella lo afferrò, egli vi versò sei misure di orzo e gliele mise addosso. Rut rientrò in città,
16 When Ruth got home, her mother-in-law asked her, 'How did things go with you, daughter?' She thentold her everything that the man had done for her.	16 andò dalla suocera e questa le domandò: "Come va, figlia mia?". Ella le raccontò tutto quello che l'uomo le aveva fatto e
17 'He gave me these six measures of barley and said, "You must not go home empty-handed to yourmother-in-law." '	17 disse: "Mi ha dato queste misure di orzo e ha detto: "Non tornare a mani vuote da tua suocera".
18 Naomi said, 'Do nothing, daughter, until you see how things have gone; I am sure he will not rest untilhe has settled the matter this very day.'	18 Noemi disse: "Resta qui, figlia mia, fino a che tu sappia come andrà a finire la cosa, perché l'uomo non sarà tranquillo fino a che la cosa non sia sistemata".
