1 One of the seven angels that had the seven bowls came to speak to me, and said, 'Come here and Iwil show you the punishment of the great prostitute who is enthroned beside abundant waters,	1 Alors un des sept Anges qui avaient les sept coupes vint et me parla, en disant: Viens, et je te montrerai la condamnation de la grande prostituée, qui est assise sur de vastes eaux,
2 with whom al the kings of the earth have prostituted themselves, and who has made al the populationof the world drunk with the wine of her adultery.'	2 avec laquelle les rois de la terre se sont souillés, et les habitants de la terre ont été enivrés de vin de sa prostitution.
3 He took me in spirit to a desert, and there I saw a woman riding a scarlet beast which had sevenheads and ten horns and had blasphemous titles written al over it.	3 Et il me transporta en esprit dans le désert. Et je vis une femme assise sur une bête de couleur écarlate, couverte de noms de blasphèmes, qui avait sept têtes et dix cornes.
4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet and glittered with gold and jewels and pearls, and shewas holding a gold winecup fil ed with the disgusting filth of her prostitution;	4 Et la femme était vêtue de pourpre et d'écarlate, et parée d'or, de pierres précieuses et de perles; elle avait dans sa main une coupe d'or, pleine des abominations et de l'impureté de sa fornication.
5 on her forehead was written a name, a cryptic name: 'Babylon the Great, the mother of al theprostitutes and all the filthy practices on the earth.'	5 Et sur son front était écrit ce nom: Mystère; Babylone la grande, la mère des fornications et des abominations de la terre.
6 I saw that she was drunk, drunk with the blood of the saints, and the blood of the martyrs of Jesus;and when I saw her, I was completely mystified.	6 Et je vis cette femme, ivre du sang des saints, et du sang des martyrs de Jésus; et en la voyant, je fus frappé d'un grand étonnement.
7 The angel said to me, 'Do you not understand? I wil tel you the meaning of this woman, and of thebeast she is riding, with the seven heads and the ten horns.	7 Et l'Ange me dit: Pourquoi t'étonnes-tu? Je te dirai le mystère de la femme, et de la bête qui la porte, et qui a sept têtes et dix cornes.
8 'The beast you have seen was once alive and is alive no longer; it is yet to come up from the Abyss,but only to go to its destruction. And the people of the world, whose names have not been written since thebeginning of the world in the book of life, wil be astonished when they see how the beast was once alive and isalive no longer, and is stil to come.	8 La bête que tu as vue était et n'est plus; elle doit monter de l'abîme et aller à la ruine; et les habitants de la terre dont les noms ne sont pas écrits dans le livre de vie depuis la création du monde, s'étonneront en voyant la bête, qui était et qui n'est plus.
9 'This cal s for shrewdness. The seven heads are the seven hil s, on which the woman is sitting.	9 Et ici il faut une intelligence qui ait de la sagesse. Les sept têtes sont sept montagnes sur lesquelles la femme est assise; elles sont aussi sept rois.
10 The seven heads are also seven emperors. Five of them have already gone, one is here now, andone is yet to come; once here, he must stay for a short while.	10 Cinq sont tombés; l'un est, et l'autre n'est pas encore venu, et quand il sera venu, il doit demeurer peu de temps.
11 The beast, who was alive and is alive no longer, is at the same time the eighth and one of the seven,and he is going to his destruction.	11 La bête, qui était et qui n'est plus, est elle-même la huitième; et elle est des sept, et elle va à la ruine.
12 'The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet been given their royal power but willhave royal authority only for a single hour and in association with the beast.	12 Et les dix cornes que tu as vues sont dix rois qui n'ont pas encore reçu la royauté; mais ils recevront la puissance comme rois pendant une heure, avec la bête.
13 They are all of one mind in putting their strength and their powers at the beast's disposal,	13 Ils ont un même dessein, et ils donneront leur force et leur puissance à la bête.
14 and they wil go to war against the Lamb; but because the Lamb is Lord of lords and King of kings, hewil defeat them, he and his fol owers, the cal ed, the chosen, the trustworthy.'	14 Ils combattront contre l'Agneau, et l'Agneau les vaincra, parce qu'Il est le Seigneur des seigneurs, et le Roi des rois; et ceux qui sont avec Lui sont les appelés, les élus et les fidèles.
15 The angel continued, 'The waters you saw, beside which the prostitute was sitting, are al thepeoples, the populations, the nations and the languages.	15 Et il me dit: Les eaux que tu as vues à l'endroit où la prostituée est assise, sont des peuples, des nations et des langues.
16 But the ten horns and the beast will turn against the prostitute, and tear off her clothes and leave herstark naked; then they wil eat her flesh and burn the remains in the fire.	16 Et les dix cornes que tu as vues sur la bête haïront la prostituée, et la rendront désolée et nue, et dévoreront ses chairs, et la brûleront elle-même avec le feu.
17 In fact, God has influenced their minds to do what he intends, to agree together to put their royalpowers at the beast's disposal until the time when God's words shal be fulfilled.	17 Car Dieu leur a mis dans le coeur de faire ce qui Lui plaît, et de donner la royauté à la bête, jusqu'à ce que les paroles de Dieu soient accomplies.
18 The woman you saw is the great city which has authority over all the rulers on earth.'	18 Et la femme que tu as vue, c'est la grande ville, qui a la royauté sur les rois de la terre.
