NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 One of the seven angels that had the seven bowls came to speak to me, and said, 'Come here and Iwil show you the punishment of the great prostitute who is enthroned beside abundant waters,	1 Alors un des sept anges des sept fléaux s’est approché de moi et m’a parlé: "Viens donc que je te montre le jugement de la grande prostituée installée au bord des grandes eaux;
2 with whom al the kings of the earth have prostituted themselves, and who has made al the populationof the world drunk with the wine of her adultery.'	2 les rois de la terre couchaient avec elle et les habitants de la terre s’enivraient de sa luxure.”
3 He took me in spirit to a desert, and there I saw a woman riding a scarlet beast which had sevenheads and ten horns and had blasphemous titles written al over it.	3 L’ange m’enleva en esprit et me conduisit au désert. Là j’ai vu une femme assise sur une bête couleur écarlate, qui avait sept têtes et dix cornes, toute couverte de titres qui sont autant d’insultes à Dieu.
4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet and glittered with gold and jewels and pearls, and shewas holding a gold winecup fil ed with the disgusting filth of her prostitution;	4 La femme était vêtue de rouge pourpre et écarlate, elle était parée d’or, de perles et de pierres précieuses. Elle tenait à la main une coupe d’or remplie de choses abominables, toutes les impuretés de sa prostitution.
5 on her forehead was written a name, a cryptic name: 'Babylon the Great, the mother of al theprostitutes and all the filthy practices on the earth.'	5 Sur son front était écrit son nom, un nom à mystères: Babylone la Grande, la mère des prostituées et des abominations de toute la terre.
6 I saw that she was drunk, drunk with the blood of the saints, and the blood of the martyrs of Jesus;and when I saw her, I was completely mystified.	6 Et j’ai vu cette femme ivre du sang des saints et du sang des martyrs de Jésus.
7 The angel said to me, 'Do you not understand? I wil tel you the meaning of this woman, and of thebeast she is riding, with the seven heads and the ten horns.	7 Quand je la vis, ce fut pour moi un grand étonnement. Alors l’ange me dit: "Qu’est-ce qui t’étonne? Je vais t’expliquer le secret de la femme et de la bête qui la porte, qui a sept têtes et dix cornes.
8 'The beast you have seen was once alive and is alive no longer; it is yet to come up from the Abyss,but only to go to its destruction. And the people of the world, whose names have not been written since thebeginning of the world in the book of life, wil be astonished when they see how the beast was once alive and isalive no longer, and is stil to come.	8 La bête que tu as vue était mais N’Est pas. Elle va remonter de l’abîme mais elle va à sa perte. Et ce sera une grande surprise pour les habitants de la terre dont le nom n’est pas écrit sur le livre de vie depuis la fondation du monde, quand ils verront que la bête qui était n’Est pas, mais qu’elle passe.”
9 'This cal s for shrewdness. The seven heads are the seven hil s, on which the woman is sitting.	9 Si vous êtes astucieux, essayez ici de comprendre. Les sept têtes sont sept monts sur lesquels la femme est assise; et ce sont aussi sept rois.
10 The seven heads are also seven emperors. Five of them have already gone, one is here now, andone is yet to come; once here, he must stay for a short while.	10 Les cinq premiers sont tombés; un est en place; un autre n’est pas encore arrivé, mais une fois là il durera peu.
11 The beast, who was alive and is alive no longer, is at the same time the eighth and one of the seven,and he is going to his destruction.	11 S’il faut un huitième, ce sera la bête qui était et N’Est Pas, laquelle va avec les sept et court à sa perte.
12 'The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet been given their royal power but willhave royal authority only for a single hour and in association with the beast.	12 Les dix cornes que tu as vues sont dix rois qui n’ont pas encore commencé à régner; ils obtiendront le pouvoir et seront rois pour une heure à la suite de la bête.
13 They are all of one mind in putting their strength and their powers at the beast's disposal,	13 Ils poursuivent un même but et ils donneront à la bête leurs forces et leur autorité.
14 and they wil go to war against the Lamb; but because the Lamb is Lord of lords and King of kings, hewil defeat them, he and his fol owers, the cal ed, the chosen, the trustworthy.'	14 Ils feront la guerre à l’Agneau, mais l’Agneau est Seigneur des seigneurs et Roi des rois; il sera vainqueur, et avec lui ceux qu’il a élus et appelés et qui lui sont fidèles.”
15 The angel continued, 'The waters you saw, beside which the prostitute was sitting, are al thepeoples, the populations, the nations and the languages.	15 Il me dit encore: "Les eaux que tu as vues, au bord desquelles la prostituée est assise, ce sont des peuples et des multitudes de toute nation et de toute langue.
16 But the ten horns and the beast will turn against the prostitute, and tear off her clothes and leave herstark naked; then they wil eat her flesh and burn the remains in the fire.	16 Quant aux dix cornes que tu as vues sur la bête, elles haïront la prostituée. elles la dépouilleront et la laisseront nue, elles mangeront sa chair et la réduiront en cendres.
17 In fact, God has influenced their minds to do what he intends, to agree together to put their royalpowers at the beast's disposal until the time when God's words shal be fulfilled.	17 Dieu leur fait vouloir tout cela afin de réaliser son propre projet; ils n’ont qu’un même dessein et ils livreront leur royaume à la bête jusqu’à ce que s’accomplissent les paroles de Dieu.
18 The woman you saw is the great city which has authority over all the rulers on earth.'	18 Oui, la femme que tu as vue est la Grande Ville, celle qui a autorité sur tous les rois de la terre.”
