NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Once Ehud was dead, the Israelites again began doing what is evil in Yahweh's eyes,	1 Après la mort d'Ehud les Israélites recommencèrent à faire ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé,
2 and Yahweh handed them over to Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned at Hazor. The commander of hisarmy was Sisera, who lived in Haroshet-ha-Goi m.	2 et Yahvé les livra à Yabîn, roi de Canaan, qui régnait à Haçor. Le chef de son armée était Sisera, quihabitait à Haroshèt-ha-Goyim.
3 The Israelites then cried to Yahweh; for Jabin had nine hundred iron chariots and had cruel y oppressedthe Israelites for twenty years.	3 Alors les Israélites poussèrent des gémissements vers Yahvé. Car Yabîn avait 900 chars de fer et ilavait opprimé durement les Israélites pendant vingt ans.
4 Deborah, a prophetess, wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at the time.	4 En ce temps-là Débora, une prophétesse, femme de Lappidot, jugeait Israël.
5 She used to sit under Deborah's Palm between Ramah and Bethel in the highlands of Ephraim, and theIsraelites would come to her for justice.	5 Elle siégeait sous le palmier de Débora entre Rama et Béthel, dans la montagne d'Ephraïm, et lesIsraélites allaient vers elle pour obtenir justice.
6 She sent for Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, 'Has not Yahweh, God ofIsrael, commanded, "Go! March to Mount Tabor and with you take ten thousand of the sons of Naphtali and thesons of Zebulun.	6 Elle envoya chercher Baraq, fils d'Abinoam de Qédesh en Nephtali et lui dit: "Yahvé, Dieu d'Israël,n'a-t-il pas ordonné: Va, marche vers le mont Tabor et prends avec toi 10.000 hommes des fils de Nephtali et desfils de Zabulon.
7 I shall entice Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, to encounter you at the Torrent of Kishon with hischariots and troops; and I shal put him into your power"? '	7 J'attirerai vers toi au torrent du Qishôn Sisera, le chef de l'armée de Yabîn, avec ses chars et sestroupes, et je le livrerai entre tes mains?"
8 Barak replied, 'If you come with me, I shall go; if you will not come, I shal not go, for I do not know howto choose the day when the angel of Yahweh will grant me success.'	8 Baraq lui répondit: "Si tu viens avec moi, j'irai, mais si tu ne viens pas avec moi, je n'irai pas, car je nesais pas en quel jour l'Ange de Yahvé me donnera le succès" --
9 'I shall go with you then,' she said, 'but, the way you are going about it, the glory wil not be yours; forYahweh wil deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.' Deborah then stood up and went with Barak to Kedesh.	9 "J'irai donc avec toi, lui dit-elle; seulement, dans la voie où tu marches, l'honneur ne sera pas pour toi,car c'est entre les mains d'une femme que Yahvé livrera Sisera." Alors Débora se leva et, avec Baraq, elle serendit à Qédesh.
10 Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali. Ten thousand men marched behind him, and Deborah wentwith him.	10 Baraq convoqua Zabulon et Nephtali. 10.000 hommes le suivirent et Débora monta avec lui.
11 Heber the Kenite had parted company with the tribe of Kain and with the sons of Hobab, father-in-lawof Moses; he had pitched his tent near the Oak of Zaanannim, not far from Kedesh.	11 Héber, le Qénite, s'était séparé de la tribu de Qayîn et du clan des fils de Hobab, beau-père de Moïse;il avait planté sa tente près du chêne de Caanannim, non loin de Qédesh.
12 Sisera was informed that Barak son of Abinoam had encamped on Mount Tabor.	12 On annonça à Sisera que Baraq, fils d'Abinoam, était monté sur le mont Tabor.
13 Sisera summoned all his chariots -- nine hundred iron chariots -- and al the troops he had, fromHarosheth-ha-Goi m to the Torrent of Kishon.	13 Sisera convoqua tous ses chars, 900 chars de fer, et toutes les troupes qu'il avait, de Haroshèt-ha-Goyim au torrent du Qishôn.
14 Deborah said to Barak, 'Up! For today is the day when Yahweh has put Sisera into your power. Is notYahweh marching at your head?' And Barak charged down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men behindhim.	14 Débora dit à Baraq: "Lève-toi, car voici le jour où Yahvé a livré Sisera entre tes mains. Oui! Yahvéne marche-t-il pas devant toi?" Et Baraq descendit du mont Tabor avec 10.000 hommes derrière lui.
15 At Barak's advance, Yahweh struck terror into Sisera, all his chariots and his entire army. Sisera leaptdown from his chariot and fled on foot.	15 Yahvé frappa de panique Sisera, tous ses chars et toute son armée devant Baraq. Sisera, descendantde son char, s'enfuit à pied.
16 Barak pursued the chariots and the army as far as Harosheth-ha-Goiim. Sisera's whole army fel bythe edge of the sword; not one man was spared.	16 Baraq poursuivit les chars et l'armée jusqu'à Haroshèt-ha-Goyim. Toute l'armée de Sisera tomba sousle tranchant de l'épée et pas un homme n'échappa.
17 Sisera meanwhile fled on foot towards the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. For there waspeace between Jabin king of Hazor and the family of Heber the Kenite.	17 Sisera cependant s'enfuyait à pied dans la direction de la tente de Yaël, femme de Héber le Qénite,car la paix régnait entre Yabîn, roi de Haçor, et la maison de Héber le Qénite.
18 Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, 'Stay here, my lord, with me; do not be afraid!' Hestayed with her in her tent, and she covered him with a rug.	18 Yaël, sortant au-devant de Sisera, lui dit: "Arrête-toi, Monseigneur, arrête-toi chez moi. Ne crainsrien!" Il s'arrêta chez elle sous la tente et elle le recouvrit d'un tapis.
19 He said to her, 'Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.' She opened the skin of milk,gave him some to drink and covered him up again.	19 Il lui dit: "Donne-moi à boire un peu d'eau, je te prie, car j'ai soif." Elle ouvrit l'outre où était le lait,le fit boire et le recouvrit de nouveau.
20 Then he said to her, 'Stand at the tent door, and if anyone comes and questions you -- if he asks, "Isthere a man here?" say, "No." '	20 Il lui dit: "Tiens-toi à l'entrée de la tente, et si quelqu'un vient, t'interroge et dit: Y a-t-il un hommeici? Tu répondras: Non."
21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent-peg and picked up a mallet; she crept up softly to him and drovethe peg into his temple right through to the ground. He was lying fast asleep, worn out; and so he died.	21 Mais Yaël, femme de Héber, prit un piquet de la tente, saisit un marteau dans sa main et,s'approchant de lui doucement, elle lui enfonça dans la tempe le piquet, qui se planta en terre. Il dormaitprofondément, épuisé de fatigue, c'est ainsi qu'il mourut.
22 And now Barak came up in pursuit of Sisera. Jael went out to meet him and said, 'Come in, and I wilshow you the man you are looking for.' He went into her tent; and there was Sisera dead, with the tent-pegthrough his temple.	22 Et voici que Baraq survint, poursuivant Sisera. Yaël sortit au-devant de lui: "Viens, lui dit-elle, et jete ferai voir l'homme que tu cherches." Il entra chez elle: Sisera gisait mort, le piquet dans la tempe.
23 Thus God that day humbled Jabin king of Canaan before the Israelites.	23 Dieu humilia donc en ce jour Yabîn, roi de Canaan, devant les Israélites.
24 And the Israelites bore down more and more heavily on that king of Canaan, Jabin, until he was utterlydestroyed.	24 La main des Israélites s'appesantit de plus en plus durement sur Yabîn, roi de Canaan, jusqu'à cequ'ils aient supprimé Yabîn, roi de Canaan.
