Joshua 23

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Now long after Yahweh had given Israel rest from al the enemies surrounding them -- Joshua was oldnow, far advanced in years-	1 Trascorsi molti giorni dal tempo in cui il Signore aveva dato riposo a Israele da tutti i suoi nemici all'intorno, Giosuè, ormai vecchio e avanzato in età,
2 Joshua summoned al Israel, their elders, leaders, judges and officials, and said to them, 'I myself amold, far advanced in years;	2 convocò tutto Israele, i suoi anziani, i suoi prìncipi, i suoi giudici e i suoi ufficiali e disse loro: "Io sono diventato vecchio e avanzato in età;
3 you for your part have witnessed al that Yahweh your God has done to al these nations for your sake;Yahweh your God himself has fought for you.	3 voi avete veduto tutto quello che ha fatto il Signore, vostro Dio, a tutte queste nazioni a causa di voi: poiché è il Signore, vostro Dio, che ha combattuto per voi.
4 Look, these nations stil remaining, and al the nations which I have exterminated from the Jordan althe way to the Great Sea in the west, I have al otted to you as the heritage for your tribes.	4 Vedete, io vi ho distribuito a sorte, come eredità per le vostre tribù, queste nazioni che restano, come tutte quelle nazioni che io ho sterminato dal Giordano, fino al Mar Mediterraneo, ad ovest.
5 Yahweh your God wil himself drive them out before you; he wil dispossess them before you and youwil take possession of their country, as Yahweh your God has promised you.	5 Il Signore, vostro Dio, li scaccerà davanti a voi, li spossesserà davanti ai vostri occhi e voi prenderete possesso del loro paese, come vi ha detto il Signore, vostro Dio.

7 Never mix with the peoples who are stil left beside you. 11 Be very careful, as you value your life, to love Yahweh your God.	11 Badate bene, per le vostre anime, di amare il Signore, vostro Dio.
12 'But should you in any way relapse, if you make friends with the remnant of these nations stil livingbeside you, if you intermarry with them, if you mix with them and they with you,	12 Ché se gli volterete le spalle e vi unirete al resto di quelle nazioni che sono rimaste con voi, se contrarrete con esse matrimoni e vi mischierete ad esse ed esse a voi,
13 then know for certain that Yahweh your God wil stop dispossessing these nations before you, and foryou they will be a snare, a pitfal , thorns in your sides and thistles in your eyes, until you vanish from this finecountry given you by Yahweh your God.	13 allora abbiate per certo che il Signore, vostro Dio, non continuerà a distruggere quelle nazioni davanti a voi, ma esse saranno per voi una rete, un laccio, un flagello ai vostri fianchi e spine nei vostri occhi, finché non siate spariti da questa buona terra che vi ha dato il Signore, vostro Dio.
14 'Today, you see, I am going the way of al the earth. Acknowledge with all your heart and soul that ofal the promises made to you by Yahweh your God, not one has failed: al have been fulfil ed -- not one hasfailed.	14 Ecco che io oggi me ne vado per la via di ogni uomo; voi pertanto riconoscete con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta la vostra anima che non è andata a vuoto una cosa sola di tutte quelle belle cose che aveva detto il Signore, vostro Dio: tutto si è avverato per voi; non è fallita una sola cosa.
15 'As every promise made to you by Yahweh your God has been fulfil ed for you, by the same tokenYahweh wil fulfil al his threats against you, even to exterminating you from this fine country given you by Yahweh your God.	15 Ora, come si è avverata per voi ogni bella promessa che vi aveva fatto il Signore, vostro Dio, così il Signore farà cadere su di voi ogni parola cattiva, finché non siate sterminati da questa buona terra che vi ha dato il Signore, vostro Dio:
16 'For if you violate the covenant which Yahweh your God has imposed on you, if you go and serveother gods and bow down to them, then Yahweh's anger wil be roused against you and you will quickly vanishfrom the fine country which he has given you.'	16 se voi trasgredirete l'alleanza del Signore, vostro Dio, ch'egli vi ha prescritto e andrete a servire altri dèi e vi darete loro, allora s'infiammerà contro di voi l'ira del Signore e rapidamente voi sparirete da questa buona terra che vi ha dato".
