Joshua 23

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Now long after Yahweh had given Israel rest from al the enemies surrounding them -- Joshua was oldnow, far advanced in years-	1 Sucedió, mucho tiempo después de que Yahveh concediera a Israel la paz de todos los enemigos de alrededor, - Josué era ya viejo y avanzado en días -
2 Joshua summoned al Israel, their elders, leaders, judges and officials, and said to them, 'I myself amold, far advanced in years;	2 que Josué convocó a todo Israel, a sus ancianos, sus jefes, sus jueces, sus escribas y les dijo: «Yo ya soy viejo, avanzado en días;
3 you for your part have witnessed al that Yahweh your God has done to al these nations for your sake;Yahweh your God himself has fought for you.	3 y vosotros habéis visto todo lo que Yahveh, vuestro Dios, ha hecho en atención a vosotros con todos estos pueblos; pues Yahveh vuestro Dios era el que combatía por vosotros.
4 Look, these nations stil remaining, and al the nations which I have exterminated from the Jordan althe way to the Great Sea in the west, I have al otted to you as the heritage for your tribes.	4 Mirad, yo os he dado por suertes, como heredad para vuestras tribus, esos pueblos que quedan por conquistar, así como todos los pueblos que yo exterminé desde el Jordán hasta el mar Grande de occidente.
5 Yahweh your God wil himself drive them out before you; he wil dispossess them before you and youwil take possession of their country, as Yahweh your God has promised you.	5 Yahveh mismo, vuestro Dios, los arrojará delante de vosotros, los expulsará de delante de vosotros, y vosotros tomaréis posesión de su tierra, como os lo ha prometido Yahveh vuestro Dios.
6 'So be very firm about keeping and doing everything written in the Book of the Law of Moses, notswerving from that either to right or to left.	6 «Esforzaos mucho en guardar y cumplir todo lo que está escrito en el libro de la Ley de Moisés, no apartándoos de ella ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda,
7 Never mix with the peoples who are stil left beside you. Do not utter the names of their gods, do notswear by them, do not serve them and do not bow down to them.	7 no mezclándoos con esos pueblos que quedan todavía entre vosotros. No recordaréis el nombre de sus dioses ni juraréis por ellos, no les serviréis ni os postraréis ante ellos,
8 On the contrary, you must be loyal to Yahweh your God as you have been til now.	8 sino manteneos unidos a Yahveh vuestro Dios, como habéis hecho hasta el día de hoy.
9 Yahweh has dispossessed great and powerful nations before you, and no one so far has been able toresist you.	9 Yahveh ha arrojado de vuestra presencia a pueblos numerosos y fuertes, y nadie os ha podido resistir hasta el presente.
10 One man of you was able to rout a thousand of them, since Yahweh your God was himself fighting foryou, as he had promised you.	10 Uno solo de vosotros perseguía a mil, porque Yahveh mismo, vuestro Dios, peleaba por vosotros, como os lo había prometido.
11 Be very careful, as you value your life, to love Yahweh your God.	11 Tendréis buen cuidado, por vuestra vida, de amar a Yahveh vuestro Dios.
12 'But should you in any way relapse, if you make friends with the remnant of these nations stil livingbeside you, if you intermarry with them, if you mix with them and they with you,	12 «Pero si os desviáis y os unís a ese resto de naciones que quedan todavía entre vosotros, emparentáis con ellas y entráis en tratos con ellas,
13 then know for certain that Yahweh your God wil stop dispossessing these nations before you, and foryou they will be a snare, a pitfal , thorns in your sides and thistles in your eyes, until you vanish from this finecountry given you by Yahweh your God.	13 tened por sabido que Yahveh vuestro Dios no seguirá arrojando de delante de vosotros a esos pueblos; serán para vosotros red, lazo, espinas en vuestros costados y aguijones en vuestros ojos, hasta que desaparezcáis de esta espléndida tierra que os ha dado Yahveh vuestro Dios.
14 'Today, you see, I am going the way of al the earth. Acknowledge with all your heart and soul that ofal the promises made to you by Yahweh your God, not one has failed: al have been fulfil ed -- not one hasfailed.	14 «Mirad que yo me voy ya por el camino de todo el mundo. Reconoced con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma que, de todas las promesas que Yahveh vuestro Dios había hecho en vuestro favor, no ha fallado ni una sola: todas se os han cumplido. Ni una sola ha fallado.
15 'As every promise made to you by Yahweh your God has been fulfil ed for you, by the same tokenYahweh wil fulfil al his threats against you, even to exterminating you from this fine country given you by Yahweh your God.	15 «Pues de la misma manera que se os han cumplido todas las espléndidas promesas hechas por Yahveh vuestro Dios en vuestro favor, igualmente acarreará Yahveh contra vosotros todas sus amenazas, hasta borraros de la espléndida tierra que Yahveh vuestro Dios os ha dado.
16 'For if you violate the covenant which Yahweh your God has imposed on you, if you go and serveother gods and bow down to them, then Yahweh's anger wil be roused against you and you will quickly vanishfrom the fine country which he has given you.'	16 «Si quebrantáis la alianza que Yahveh vuestro Dios os ha impuesto, si vos vais a servir a otros dioses, y os postráis ante ellos, la ira de Yahveh se encenderá contra vosotros y desapareceréis rápidamente de la espléndida tierra que os ha dado».
