2 Corinthians 3

1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves to you afresh -- as though we needed, like some others, tohave letters of commendation either to you or from you?	1 - Cominciamo di nuovo a raccomandare noi stessi? o forse abbiam bisogno come alcuni di commendatizie scritte a voi o da voi?
2 You yourselves are our letter, written in our hearts, that everyone can read and understand;	2 Siete voi la nostra lettera, scritta nei nostri cuori, conosciuta e letta da tutti gli uomini,
3 and it is plain that you are a letter from Christ, entrusted to our care, written not with ink but with theSpirit of the living God; not on stone tablets but on the tablets of human hearts.	3 essendo manifesto che voi siete una lettera di Cristo, di cui noi fummo i ministri, scritta, non coll'inchiostro, ma collo Spirito di Dio, vivo, non su tavole di pietra ma su tavole consistenti in cuori di carne.
4 Such is the confidence we have through Christ in facing God;	4 Tale fiducia noi l'abbiamo in Dio mediante il Cristo.
5 it is not that we are so competent that we can claim any credit for ourselves; al our competence comesfrom God.	5 Non che da noi stessi siamo in grado di pensare alcunchè come fosse da noi, ma la sufficienza nostra vien da Dio,
6 He has given us the competence to be ministers of a new covenant, a covenant which is not of writtenletters, but of the Spirit; for the written letters kill, but the Spirit gives life.	6 il quale ci ha anche fatti idonei a essere ministri d'un Nuovo Patto, non di lettera ma di spirito: poichè la lettera uccide e lo spirito vivifica.
7 Now if the administering of death, engraved in letters on stone, occurred in such glory that the Israelitescould not look Moses steadily in the face, because of its glory, transitory though this glory was,	7 Che se il ministero della morte espresso in lettere su pietre fu glorioso, tanto da non potere i figli d'Israele guardar fisso alla faccia di Mosè per lo splendore pur non durevole della faccia di lui,
8 how much more will the ministry of the Spirit occur in glory!	8 come non sarà molto più glorioso il ministero dello spirito?
9 For if it is glorious to administer condemnation, to administer saving justice is far richer in glory.	9 Poichè se fa gloria il ministero della condanna, di gran lunga in gloria prevale il ministero della giustizia.
10 Indeed, what was once considered glorious has lost al claim to glory, by contrast with the glory whichtranscends it.	10 Per questo rispetto non si può neanche dir glorificato quel che è stato glorificato [prima con Mosè], e ciò per la tanto maggior gloria [d'ora di Cristo];
11 For if what was transitory had any glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts for ever.	11 se ciò ch'era non durevole ebbe luce di gloria, tanto più è in gloria quel che è permanente!
12 With a hope like this, we can speak with complete fearlessness;	12 Avendo dunque siffatta speranza, noi ci valiamo di molta franchezza di parola,
13 not like Moses who put a veil over his face so that the Israelites should not watch the end of what wastransitory.	13 e non facciamo come Mosè che si metteva un velo sul viso perchè i figli d'Israele non fissassero lo sguardo al fine di cosa non durevole.
14 But their minds were closed; indeed, until this very day, the same veil remains over the reading of theOld Testament: it is not lifted, for only in Christ is it done away with.	14 Senonchè si sono indurate le menti loro; infatti fino al giorno d'oggi lo stesso velo rimane, durante la lettura dell'Antico Testamento, non rimosso, perchè in Cristo soltanto si annulla.
15 As it is, to this day, whenever Moses is read, their hearts are covered with a veil,	15 Anzi fino ad oggi quando si legge ad essi Mosè, un velo giace sopra il loro cuore;
16 and this veil wil not be taken away til they turn to the Lord.	16 ma non appena ci si volge al Signore, il velo si alza.
17 Now this Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.	17 E il Signore è lo Spirito, e dove è lo Spirito del Signore ivi è libertà.
18 And al of us, with our unveiled faces like mirrors reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformedinto the image that we reflect in brighter and brighter glory; this is the working of the Lord who is the Spirit.	18 Noi tutti col viso scoperto, riflettendo come in ispecchio la gloria del Signore, ci trasformiamo nella stessa immagine di gloria in gloria, come per opera dello Spirito del Signore.
