2 Corinthians 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves to you afresh -- as though we needed, like some others, tohave letters of commendation either to you or from you?	1 ¿Comenzamos nuevamente a recomendarnos a nosotros mismos? ¿Acaso tenemos que presentarles o recibir de ustedes cartas de recomendación, como hacen algunos?
2 You yourselves are our letter, written in our hearts, that everyone can read and understand;	2 Ustedes mismos son nuestra carta, una carta escrita en nuestros corazones, conocida y leída por todos los hombres.
3 and it is plain that you are a letter from Christ, entrusted to our care, written not with ink but with theSpirit of the living God; not on stone tablets but on the tablets of human hearts.	3 Evidentemente ustedes son una carta que Cristo escribió por intermedio nuestro, no con tinta, sino con el Espíritu del Dios viviente, no en tablas de piedra, sino de carne, es decir, en los corazones.
4 Such is the confidence we have through Christ in facing God;	4 Es Cristo el que nos da esta seguridad delante de Dios,
5 it is not that we are so competent that we can claim any credit for ourselves; al our competence comesfrom God.	5 no porque podamos atribuirnos algo que venga de nosotros mismos, ya que toda nuestra capacidad viene de Dios.
6 He has given us the competence to be ministers of a new covenant, a covenant which is not of writtenletters, but of the Spirit; for the written letters kill, but the Spirit gives life.	6 El nos ha capacitado para que seamos los ministros de una Nueva Alianza, que no reside en la letra, sino en el Espíritu; porque la letra mata, pero el Espíritu da vida.
7 Now if the administering of death, engraved in letters on stone, occurred in such glory that the Israelitescould not look Moses steadily in the face, because of its glory, transitory though this glory was,	7 Ahora bien, si el ministerio que lleva a la muerte –grabado sobre piedras– fue inaugurado con tanta gloria que los israelitas no podían fijar sus ojos en el rostro de Moisés, por el resplandor –aunque pasajero– de ese rostro,
8 how much more will the ministry of the Spirit occur in glory!	8 ¡cuánto más glorioso será el ministerio del Espíritu!
9 For if it is glorious to administer condemnation, to administer saving justice is far richer in glory.	9 Y si el ministerio que llevaba a la condenación fue tan glorioso, ¡cuál no será la gloria del ministerio que conduce a la justicia!
10 Indeed, what was once considered glorious has lost al claim to glory, by contrast with the glory whichtranscends it.	10 En realidad, aquello que fue glorioso bajo cierto aspecto ya no lo es más en comparación con esta gloria extraordinaria.
11 For if what was transitory had any glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts for ever.	11 Porque si lo que era transitorio se ha manifestado con tanta gloria, ¡cuánto más glorioso será lo que es permanente!
12 With a hope like this, we can speak with complete fearlessness;	12 Animados con esta esperanza, nos comportamos con absoluta franqueza,
13 not like Moses who put a veil over his face so that the Israelites should not watch the end of what wastransitory.	13 y no como Moisés, que se cubría el rostro con un velo para impedir que los israelitas vieran el fin de un esplendor pasajero.
14 But their minds were closed; indeed, until this very day, the same veil remains over the reading of theOld Testament: it is not lifted, for only in Christ is it done away with.	14 Pero se les oscureció el entendimiento, y ese mismo velo permanece hasta el día de hoy en la lectura del Antiguo Testamento, porque es Cristo el que lo hace desaparecer.
15 As it is, to this day, whenever Moses is read, their hearts are covered with a veil,	15 Sí, hasta el día de hoy aquel velo les cubre la inteligencia siempre que leen a Moisés.
16 and this veil wil not be taken away til they turn to the Lord.	16 Pero al que se convierte al Señor, se le cae el velo.
17 Now this Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.	17 Porque el Señor es el Espíritu, y donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí está la libertad.
18 And al of us, with our unveiled faces like mirrors reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformedinto the image that we reflect in brighter and brighter glory; this is the working of the Lord who is the Spirit.	18 Nosotros, en cambio, con el rostro descubierto, reflejamos, como en un espejo, la gloria del Señor, y somos transfigurados a su propia imagen con un esplendor cada vez más glorioso, por la acción del Señor, que es Espíritu.
