2 Corinthians 1

1 Paul, by the wil of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, our brother, to the church of God inCorinth and to al God's holy people in the whole of Achaia.	1 Paulus, durch Gottes Willen Apostel Christi Jesu, und der Bruder Timotheus an die Kirche Gottes, die in Korinth ist, und an alle Heiligen in ganz Achaia.
2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und dem Herrn Jesus Christus.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father and the God who givesevery possible encouragement;	3 Gepriesen sei der Gott und Vater Jesu Christi, unseres Herrn, der Vater des Erbarmens und der Gott allen Trostes.
4 he supports us in every hardship, so that we are able to come to the support of others, in everyhardship of theirs because of the encouragement that we ourselves receive from God.	4 Er tröstet uns in all unserer Not, damit auch wir die Kraft haben, alle zu trösten, die in Not sind, durch den Trost, mit dem auch wir von Gott getröstet werden.
5 For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow into our lives; so too does the encouragement we receive through Christ.	5 Wie uns nämlich die Leiden Christi überreich zuteil geworden sind, so wird uns durch Christus auch überreicher Trost zuteil.
6 So if we have hardships to undergo, this wil contribute to your encouragement and your salvation; if wereceive encouragement, this is to gain for you the encouragement which enables you to bear with perseverancethe same sufferings as we do.	6 Sind wir aber in Not, so ist es zu eurem Trost und Heil, und werden wir getröstet, so geschieht auch das zu eurem Trost; er wird wirksam, wenn ihr geduldig die gleichen Leiden ertragt, die auch wir ertragen.
7 So our hope for you is secure in the knowledge that you share the encouragement we receive, no lessthan the sufferings we bear.	7 Unsere Hoffnung für euch ist unerschütterlich; wir sind sicher, dass ihr mit uns nicht nur an den Leiden teilhabt, sondern auch am Trost.
8 So in the hardships we underwent in Asia, we want you to be quite certain, brothers, that we wereunder extraordinary pressure, beyond our powers of endurance, so that we gave up al hope even of surviving.	8 Wir wollen euch die Not nicht verschweigen, Brüder, die in der Provinz Asien über uns kam und uns über alles Maß bedrückte; unsere Kraft war erschöpft, so sehr, dass wir am Leben verzweifelten.
9 In fact we were carrying the sentence of death within our own selves, so that we should be forced totrust not in ourselves but in God, who raises the dead.	9 Aber wir haben unser Todesurteil hingenommen, weil wir unser Vertrauen nicht auf uns selbst setzen wollten, sondern auf Gott, der die Toten auferweckt.
10 He did save us from such a death and will save us -- we are relying on him to do so.	10 Er hat uns aus dieser großen Todesnot errettet und rettet uns noch; auf ihm ruht unsere Hoffnung, dass er uns auch in Zukunft retten wird.
11 Your prayer for us wil contribute to this, so that, for God's favour shown to us as the result of theprayers of so many, thanks too may be given by many on our behalf.	11 Helft aber auch ihr, indem ihr für uns betet, damit viele Menschen in unserem Namen Dank sagen für die Gnade, die uns geschenkt wurde.
12 There is one thing that we are proud of, namely our conscientious conviction that we have alwaysbehaved towards everyone, and especial y towards you, with that unal oyed holiness that comes from God,relying not on human reasoning but on the grace of God.	12 Denn das ist unser Ruhm - und dafür zeugt auch unser Gewissen -, dass wir in dieser Welt, vor allem euch gegenüber, in der Aufrichtigkeit und Lauterkeit, wie Gott sie schenkt, gehandelt haben, nicht aufgrund menschlicher Weisheit, sondern aufgrund göttlicher Gnade.
13 In our writing, there is nothing that you cannot read clearly and understand;	13 Und wenn wir euch schreiben, meinen wir nichts anderes, als was ihr lest und versteht; ich hoffe, ihr werdet noch ganz verstehen,
14 and it is my hope that, just as you have already understood us partial y, so you wil understand fullythat you can be as proud of us as we shal be of you when the Day of our Lord Jesus comes.	14 was wir meinen und was ihr zum Teil schon verstanden habt, nämlich dass ihr am Tag Jesu, unseres Herrn, auf uns stolz sein dürft, so wie wir auf euch.
15 It was with this assurance that I had been meaning to come to you first, so that you would benefitdoubly;	15 In dieser Zuversicht wollte ich zunächst zu euch kommen, damit ihr ein zweites Mal Gnade erfahren hättet.
16 both to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and then to return to you again from Macedonia, so thatyou could set me on my way to Judaea.	16 Von euch wollte ich dann nach Mazedonien reisen und von Mazedonien zu euch zurückkommen, um von euch nach Judäa geleitet zu werden.
17 Since that was my purpose, do you think I lightly changed my mind? Or that my plans are based onordinary human promptings and I have in my mind Yes, yes at the same time as No, no?	17 War dieser Entschluss etwa leichtsinnig? Plane ich, wie manche Menschen planen, sodass mein Ja auch ein Nein sein kann?
18 As surely as God is trustworthy, what we say to you is not both Yes and No.	18 Gott ist treu, er bürgt dafür, dass unser Wort euch gegenüber nicht Ja und Nein zugleich ist.
19 The Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed to you by us, that is, by me and by Silvanus andTimothy, was never Yes-and-No; his nature is al Yes.	19 Denn Gottes Sohn Jesus Christus, der euch durch uns verkündigt wurde - durch mich, Silvanus und Timotheus -, ist nicht als Ja und Nein zugleich gekommen; in ihm ist das Ja verwirklicht.
20 For in him is found the Yes to al God's promises and therefore it is 'through him' that we answer'Amen' to give praise to God.	20 Er ist das Ja zu allem, was Gott verheißen hat. Darum rufen wir durch ihn zu Gottes Lobpreis auch das Amen.
21 It is God who gives us, with you, a sure place in Christ	21 Gott aber, der uns und euch in der Treue zu Christus festigt und der uns alle gesalbt hat,
22 and has both anointed us and marked us with his seal, giving us as pledge the Spirit in our hearts.	22 er ist es auch, der uns sein Siegel aufgedrückt und als ersten Anteil (am verheißenen Heil) den Geist in unser Herz gegeben hat.
23 By my life I cal on God to be my witness that it was only to spare you that I did not come to Corinthagain.	23 Ich rufe aber Gott zum Zeugen an und schwöre bei meinem Leben, dass ich nur, um euch zu schonen, nicht mehr nach Korinth gekommen bin.
24 We have no wish to lord it over your faith, but to work with you for your joy; for your stand in the faith isfirm.	24 Wir wollen ja nicht Herren über euren Glauben sein, sondern wir sind Helfer zu eurer Freude; denn im Glauben seid ihr fest verwurzelt.
