Romans 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Everyone is to obey the governing authorities, because there is no authority except from God and sowhatever authorities exist have been appointed by God.	1 Ogni persona si sottometta alle autorità che le sono superiori. Non esiste infatti autorità se non proviene da Dio; ora le autorità attuali sono state stabilite e ordinate da Dio.
2 So anyone who disobeys an authority is rebel ing against God's ordinance; and rebels must expect toreceive the condemnation they deserve.	2 Di modo che, chi si ribella all'autorità, si contrappone a un ordine stabilito da Dio. Coloro poi che si contrappongono, si attireranno da se stessi la condanna che avranno.
3 Magistrates bring fear not to those who do good, but to those who do evil. So if you want to live withno fear of authority, live honestly and you wil have its approval;	3 I magistrati, infatti, non fanno paura a chi opera il bene, ma a chi opera il male. Vuoi allora non avere timore dell'autorità? Fa' il bene e riceverai lode da essa.
4 it is there to serve God for you and for your good. But if you do wrong, then you may wel be afraid;because it is not for nothing that the symbol of authority is the sword: it is there to serve God, too, as hisavenger, to bring retribution to wrongdoers.	4 E' infatti a servizio di Dio in tuo favore, perché tu compia il bene. Ma se fai il male, temi, poiché essa non porta invano la spada: infatti è a servizio di Dio, vindice dell'ira divina verso colui che compie il male.
5 You must be obedient, therefore, not only because of this retribution, but also for conscience's sake.	5 Per tutto questo è necessario sottomettersi, non solo a motivo dell'ira, ma anche a motivo della coscienza.
6 And this is why you should pay taxes, too, because the authorities are al serving God as his agents,even while they are busily occupied with that particular task.	6 Per questo dovete anche pagare i contributi: sono infatti servitori pubblici di Dio e si applicano costantemente a questo compito.
7 Pay to each one what is due to each: taxes to the one to whom tax is due, tol s to the one to whomtol s are due, respect to the one to whom respect is due, honour to the one to whom honour is due.	7 Date a tutti ciò che è loro dovuto: il contributo a chi è dovuto il contributo, l'imposta a chi è dovuta l'imposta, il rispetto a chi è dovuto il rispetto, l'onore a chi è dovuto l'onore.
8 The only thing you should owe to anyone is love for one another, for to love the other person is tofulfil the law.	8 Non abbiate debiti con nessuno, se non quello di amarvi gli uni gli altri. Chi infatti ama l'altro, compie la legge.
9 Al these: You shal not commit adultery, You shal not kil , You shal not steal, You shal not covet,and all the other commandments that there are, are summed up in this single phrase: You must love yourneighbour as yourself.	9 Infatti: Non commettere adulterio, non uccidere, non rubare, non desiderare e qualunque altro comandamento trova il suo culmine in questa espressione: Amerai il tuo prossimo come te stesso.
10 Love can cause no harm to your neighbour, and so love is the fulfilment of the Law.	10 L'amore, infatti, non procura del male al prossimo: quindi la pienezza della legge è l'amore.
11 Besides, you know the time has come; the moment is here for you to stop sleeping and wake up,because by now our salvation is nearer than when we first began to believe.	11 E fate questo, rendendovi conto del tempo nel quale viviamo: è tempo ormai per voi di svegliarvi dal sonno; adesso infatti la nostra salvezza è più vicina che non quando demmo l'assenso della fede.
12 The night is nearly over, daylight is on the way; so let us throw off everything that belongs to thedarkness and equip ourselves for the light.	12 La notte è avanzata nel suo corso, il giorno è imminente. Perciò mettiamo da parte le opere proprie delle tenebre e rivestiamoci delle armi della luce.
13 Let us live decently, as in the light of day; with no orgies or drunkenness, no promiscuity orlicentiousness, and no wrangling or jealousy.	13 Comportiamoci con la dignità che conviene a chi agisce di giorno: non gozzoviglie od orge, non lussurie o impudicizie, non litigi o gelosie.
14 Let your armour be the Lord Jesus Christ, and stop worrying about how your disordered naturalinclinations may be fulfil ed.	14 Ma rivestitevi del Signore Gesù Cristo e non indulgete alla carne, seguendo i suoi impulsi sfrenati.
