Deuteronomy 14

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 'You are children of Yahweh your God. You must not gash yourselves or shave your foreheads for thedead.	1 Hijos sois de Yahveh vuestro Dios. No os haréis incisión ni tonsura entre los ojos por un muerto.
2 For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be his ownpeople from al the peoples on the earth.	2 Porque tú eres un pueblo consagrado a Yahveh tu Dios, y Yahveh te ha escogido para que seas el pueblo de su propiedad personal entre todos los pueblos que hay sobre la haz de la tierra.
3 'You must not eat anything disgusting.	3 No comerás nada que sea abominable.
4 These are the animals you may eat: ox, sheep, goat,	4 Estos son los animales que podréis comer: buey, carnero, cabra,
5 deer, gazel e, roebuck, ibex, antelope, oryx, mountain sheep.	5 ciervo, gacela, gamo, cabra montés, antílope, búfalo, gamuza.
6 You may eat any animal that has a divided and cloven hoof and that is a ruminant.	6 Y todo animal de pezuña partida, hendida en dos mitades, y que rumia, lo podéis comer.
7 Of those, however, that are ruminants and of those that have a divided and cloven hoof you may noteat the fol owing: the camel, the hare and the coney, which are ruminants but have no cloven hoof; you mustclass them as unclean.	7 Sin embargo, entre los que rumian y entre los animales de pezuña partida y hendida no podréis comer los siguientes: el camello, la liebre y el damán, que rumian pero no tienen la pezuña hendida; los tendréis por impuros.
8 So also the pig, which though it has a cloven hoof is not a ruminant; you must class it as unclean. Youmust neither eat the meat of such animals nor touch their dead bodies.	8 Tampoco el cerdo, que tiene la pezuña partida y hendida, pero no rumia; lo tendréis por impuro. No comeréis su carne ni tocaréis su cadáver.
9 'Of whatever lives in water you may eat the fol owing: you may eat anything that has fins and scales.	9 De entre todo lo que vive en el agua, podéis comer lo siguiente: todo lo que tiene aletas y escamas lo podéis comer.
10 But you must not eat anything without fins and scales: you must class it as unclean.	10 Pero no comeréis lo que no tiene aletas y escamas: lo tendréis por impuro.
11 'You may eat al clean birds,	11 Podéis comer toda ave pura,
12 but the fol owing birds you must not eat: the tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,	12 pero las siguientes no las podéis comer: el águila, el quebrantahuesos, el águila marina,
13 the kite and the several kinds of buzzard,	13 el buitre, las diferentes especies de halcón,
14 al kinds of raven,	14 todas las especies de cuervo,
15 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the several kinds of hawk,	15 el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota y las diferentes especies de gavilanes,
16 owl, barn owl, ibis,	16 el búho, el ibis, el cisne,
17 pelican, white vulture, cormorant,	17 el pelícano, el calamón, el somormujo,
18 stork, the several kinds of heron, hoopoe and bat.	18 la cigüeña, las diferentes especies de garza real, la abubilla y el murciélago.
19 You are to class al winged insects as unclean and must not eat them.	19 Tendréis por impuro todo bicho alado, no lo comeréis.
20 You may eat any clean fowl.	20 Podéis comer todo volátil puro.
21 'You must not eat any animal that has died a natural death. You may give it to a resident foreigner toeat, or sel it to a foreigner. For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God. 'You must not boil a kid in itsmother's milk.	21 No comeréis ninguna bestia muerta. Se la darás al forastero que vive en tus ciudades para que él la coma, o bien véndesela a un extranjero. Porque tú eres un pueblo consagrado a Yahveh tu Dios. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre.
22 'Every year, you must take a tithe of what your fields produce from what you have sown	22 Cada año deberás apartar el diezmo de todo lo que tus sementeras hayan producido en tus campos,
23 and, in the presence of Yahweh your God, in the place where he chooses to give his name a home,you must eat the tithe of your wheat, of your new wine and of your oil, and the first-born of your herd and flock;and by so doing, you wil learn always to fear Yahweh your God.	23 y, en presencia de Yahveh tu Dios, en el lugar que él haya elegido para morada de su nombre, comerás el diezmo de tu trigo, de tu mosto y de tu aceite, así como los primogénitos de tu ganado mayor y menor; a fin de que aprendas a temer siempre a Yahveh tu Dios.
24 'If the road is too long for you, if you cannot bring your tithe because the place in which Yahwehchooses to make a home for his name is too far away, when Yahweh your God has blessed you,	24 Si el camino es demasiado largo para ti, si no puedes transportarlo porque el lugar elegido por Yahveh para morada de su nombre te cae demasiado lejos, cuando Yahveh tu Dios te haya bendecido,
25 you must convert it into money and, with the money clasped in your hand, you must go to the placechosen by Yahweh your God;	25 lo cambiarás por dinero, llevarás el dinero en tu mano e irás al lugar elegido por Yahveh tu Dios;
26 there you may spend the money on whatever you like, oxen, sheep, wine, fermented liquor, anythingyou please. There you must eat in the presence of Yahweh your God and rejoice, you and your household.	26 allí emplearás este dinero en todo lo que desees, ganado mayor o menor, vino o bebida fermentada, todo lo que tu alma apetezca. Comerás allí en presencia de Yahveh tu Dios y te regocijarás, tú y tu casa.
27 Do not neglect the Levite living in your community, since he has no share or heritage of his ownamong you.	27 Y no abandonarás al levita que vive en tus ciudades, ya que él no tiene parte ni heredad contigo.
28 'At the end of every three years, you must take al the tithes of your harvests for that year and col ectthem in your community.	28 Cada tres años apartarás todos los diezmos de tus cosechas de ese año y los depositarás a tus puertas.
29 Then the Levite -- since he has no share or heritage of his own among you -- the foreigner, theorphan and the widow living in your community, wil come and eat all they want. And so Yahweh your God wilbless you in al the labours that you undertake.'	29 Vendrán así el levita - ya que él no tiene parte ni heredad contigo - el forastero, el huérfano y la viuda que viven en tus ciudades, y comerán hasta hartarse. Y Yahveh tu Dios te bendecirá en todas las obras que emprendas.
