Malachi 3

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 'Look, I shal send my messenger to clear a way before me. And suddenly the Lord whom you seek wilcome to his Temple; yes, the angel of the covenant, for whom you long, is on his way, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	1 Voici que je vais envoyer mon messager, pour qu'il fraye un chemin devant moi. Et soudain ilentrera dans son sanctuaire, le Seigneur que vous cherchez; et l'Ange de l'alliance que vous désirez, le voici quivient! dit Yahvé Sabaot.
2 Who will be able to resist the day of his coming? Who wil remain standing when he appears? For hewil be like a refiner's fire, like ful ers' alkali.	2 Qui soutiendra le jour de son arrivée? Qui restera droit quand il apparaîtra? Car il est comme lefeu du fondeur et comme la lessive des blanchisseurs.
3 He wil take his seat as refiner and purifier; he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold andsilver, so that they can make the offering to Yahweh with uprightness.	3 Il siégera comme fondeur et nettoyeur. Il purifiera les fils de Lévi et les affinera comme or etargent, et ils deviendront pour Yahvé ceux qui présentent l'offrande selon la justice.
4 The offering of Judah and Jerusalem wil then be acceptable to Yahweh as in former days, as in theyears of old.	4 Alors l'offrande de Juda et de Jérusalem sera agréée de Yahvé, comme aux jours anciens, commeaux premières années.
5 I am coming to put you on trial and I shal be a ready witness against sorcerers, adulterers, perjurers,and against those who oppress the wage-earner, the widow and the orphan, and who rob the foreigner of hisrights and do not respect me, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	5 Je m'approcherai de vous pour le jugement et je serai un témoin prompt contre les devins, lesadultères et les parjures, contre ceux qui oppriment le salarié, la veuve et l'orphelin, et qui violent le droit del'étranger, sans me craindre, dit Yahvé Sabaot.
6 'No; I, Yahweh, do not change; and you have not ceased to be children of Jacob!	6 Non, moi, Yahvé, je ne varie pas, et vous, les fils de Jacob, vous ne cessez pas!
7 Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have evaded my statutes and not observed them. Return tome and I will return to you, says Yahweh Sabaoth. You ask, "How are we to return?	7 Depuis les jours de vos pères, vous vous écartez de mes décrets et ne les gardez pas. Revenez àmoi et je reviendrai à vous! dit Yahvé Sabaot. - Vous dites: Comment reviendrons-nous? --
8 Can a human being cheat God?" Yet you try to cheat me! You ask, "How do we try to cheat you?" Overtithes and contributions.	8 Un homme peut-il tromper Dieu? Or vous me trompez! - Vous dites: En quoi t'avons-noustrompé? - Quant à la dîme et aux redevances.
9 A curse lies on you because you, this whole nation, try to cheat me.	9 La malédiction vous atteint: c'est que vous me trompez, vous la nation dans son entier.
10 Bring the tithes in ful to the treasury, so that there is food in my house; put me to the test now like this,says Yahweh Sabaoth, and see if I do not open the floodgates of heaven for you and pour out an abundantblessing for you.	10 Apportez intégralement la dîme au trésor, pour qu'il y ait de la nourriture chez moi. Et mettez-moi ainsi à l'épreuve, dit Yahvé Sabaot, pour voir si je n'ouvrirai pas en votre faveur la bénédiction ensurabondance.
11 For your sakes, I shal forbid the locust to destroy the produce of your soil or prevent the vine frombearing fruit in your field, says Yahweh Sabaoth,	11 En votre faveur, je tancerai le criquet pour qu'il ne vous détruise pas les fruits du sol, et que pourvous la vigne ne soit pas stérile dans la campagne, dit Yahvé Sabaot.
12 and all the nations wil cal you blessed, for you wil be a land of delights, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	12 Toutes les nations vous déclareront heureux, car vous serez une terre de délices, dit YahvéSabaot.
13 'You have said harsh things about me, says Yahweh. And yet you say, "What have we said againstyou?"	13 Vos paroles sont dures à mon égard, dit Yahvé. Pourtant vous dites: Que nous sommes-nous ditcontre toi?
14 You have said, "It is useless to serve God; what is the good of keeping his commands or of walkingmournful y before Yahweh Sabaoth?	14 Vous dites: c'est vanité de servir Dieu, et que gagnons-nous à avoir gardé ses observances etmarché dans le deuil devant Yahvé Sabaot?
15 In fact, we now cal the proud the happy ones; the evil-doers are the ones who prosper; they put Godto the test, yet come to no harm!" '	15 Maintenant nous en sommes à déclarer heureux les arrogants: ils prospèrent, ceux qui font lemal; ils mettent Dieu à l'épreuve et ils s'en tirent!
16 Then those who feared Yahweh talked to one another about this, and Yahweh took note and listened;and a book of remembrance was written in his presence recording those who feared him and kept his name inmind.	16 Alors ceux qui craignent Yahvé se parlèrent l'un à l'autre. Yahvé prêta attention et entendit: unlivre aide-mémoire fut écrit devant lui en faveur de ceux qui craignent Yahvé et qui pensent à son Nom.
17 'On the day when I act, says Yahweh Sabaoth, they will be my most prized possession, and I shalspare them in the way a man spares the son who serves him.	17 Au jour que je prépare, ils seront mon bien propre, dit Yahvé Sabaot. J'aurai compassion d'euxcomme un homme a compassion de son fils qui le sert.
18 Then once again you wil see the difference between the upright person and the wicked one, betweenthe one who serves God and the one who does not serve him.	18 Alors vous verrez la différence entre un juste et un méchant, entre qui sert Dieu et qui ne le sertpas.
19 'For look, the Day is coming, glowing like a furnace. Al the proud and al the evil-doers wil be thestubble, and the Day, when it comes, wil set them ablaze, says Yahweh Sabaoth, leaving them neither root norbranch.	19 Car voici: le Jour vient, brûlant comme un four. Ils seront de la paille, tous les arrogants etmalfaisants; le Jour qui arrive les embrasera - dit Yahvé Sabaot - au point qu'il ne leur laissera ni racine nirameau.
20 But for you who fear my name, the Sun of justice wil rise with healing in his rays, and you wil comeout leaping like calves from the stal ,	20 Mais pour vous qui craignez mon Nom, le soleil de justice brillera, avec la guérison dans sesrayons; vous sortirez en bondissant comme des veaux à l'engrais.
21 and trample on the wicked, who will be like ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,says Yahweh Sabaoth.	21 Vous piétinerez les méchants, car ils seront de la cendre sous la plante de vos pieds, au Jour queje prépare, dit Yahvé Sabaot.
22 'Remember the Law of my servant Moses to whom at Horeb I prescribed decrees and rulings for alIsrael.	22 Rappelez-vous la Loi de Moïse, mon serviteur à qui j'ai prescrit, à l'Horeb, pour tout Israël, deslois et des coutumes.
23 'Look, I shal send you the prophet Elijah before the great and awesome Day of Yahweh comes.	23 Voici que je vais vous envoyer Elie le prophète, avant que n'arrive le Jour de Yahvé, grand etredoutable.
24 He will reconcile parents to their children and children to their parents, to forestal my putting thecountry under the curse of destruction.'	24 Il ramènera le coeur des pères vers leurs fils et le coeur des fils vers leurs pères, de peur que je nevienne frapper le pays d'anathème.
