Micah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH
1 The word of Yahweh which came to Micah of Moresheth during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz andHezekiah kings of Judah. His visions about Samaria and Jerusalem.	1 דְּבַר־יְהוָה ׀ אֲשֶׁר הָיָה אֶל־מִיכָה הַמֹּרַשְׁתִּי בִּימֵי יֹותָם אָחָז יְחִזְקִיָּה מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה אֲשֶׁר־חָזָה עַל־שֹׁמְרֹון וִירוּשָׁלִָם
2 Listen, al you peoples, attend, earth and everyone on it! Yahweh intends to give evidence against you,the Lord, from his holy temple.	2 שִׁמְעוּ עַמִּים כֻּלָּם הַקְשִׁיבִי אֶרֶץ וּמְלֹאָהּ וִיהִי אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה בָּכֶם לְעֵד אֲדֹנָי מֵהֵיכַל קָדְשֹׁו
3 For look, Yahweh is leaving his home, down he comes, he treads the heights of earth.	3 כִּי־הִנֵּה יְהוָה יֹצֵא מִמְּקֹומֹו וְיָרַד וְדָרַךְ עַל־ [בָּמֹותֵי כ] (בָּמֳתֵי ק) אָרֶץ
4 Beneath him, the mountains melt, and val eys are torn open, like wax near a fire, like water pouringdown a slope.	4 וְנָמַסּוּ הֶהָרִים תַּחְתָּיו וְהָעֲמָקִים יִתְבַּקָּעוּ כַּדֹּונַג מִפְּנֵי הָאֵשׁ כְּמַיִם מֻגָּרִים בְּמֹורָד
5 Al this is because of the crime of Jacob, the sin of the House of Israel. What is the crime of Jacob? Is itnot Samaria? What is the sin of the House of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem?	5 בְּפֶשַׁע יַעֲקֹב כָּל־זֹאת וּבְחַטֹּאות בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל מִי־פֶשַׁע יַעֲקֹב הֲלֹוא שֹׁמְרֹון וּמִי בָּמֹות יְהוּדָה הֲלֹוא יְרוּשָׁלִָם
6 So I shal make Samaria a ruin in the open country, a place for planting vines. I shal send her stonesrol ing into the val ey, until I have laid her foundations bare.	6 וְשַׂמְתִּי שֹׁמְרֹון לְעִי הַשָּׂדֶה לְמַטָּעֵי כָרֶם וְהִגַּרְתִּי לַגַּי אֲבָנֶיהָ וִיסֹדֶיהָ אֲגַלֶּה
7 Al her images wil be shattered, al her earnings consumed by fire. I shal leave al her idols derelict-they were amassed out of prostitutes' earnings and prostitutes' earnings once more they wil be.	7 וְכָל־פְּסִילֶיהָ יֻכַּתּוּ וְכָל־אֶתְנַנֶּיהָ יִשָּׂרְפוּ בָאֵשׁ וְכָל־עֲצַבֶּיהָ אָשִׂים שְׁמָמָה כִּי מֵאֶתְנַן זֹונָה קִבָּצָה וְעַד־אֶתְנַן זֹונָה יָשׁוּבוּ
8 This is why I shal howl and wail, why I shal go barefoot and naked, why I shall howl like the jackals,why I shal shriek like the owls;	8 עַל־זֹאת אֶסְפְּדָה וְאֵילִילָה אֵילְכָה [שִׁילַל כ] (שֹׁולָל ק) וְעָרֹום אֶעֱשֶׂה מִסְפֵּד כַּתַּנִּים וְאֵבֶל כִּבְנֹות יַעֲנָה
9 for there is no cure for the wounds that Yahweh inflicts: the blow fal s on Judah, it fal s on the gateway ofmy people, on Jerusalem itself.	9 כִּי אֲנוּשָׁה מַכֹּותֶיהָ כִּי־בָאָה עַד־יְהוּדָה נָגַע עַד־שַׁעַר עַמִּי עַד־יְרוּשָׁלִָם
10 Do not announce it in Gath, in . . . shed no tears! In Beth-Leaphrah rol in the dust!	10 בְּגַת אַל־תַּגִּידוּ בָּכֹו אַל־תִּבְכּוּ בְּבֵית לְעַפְרָה עָפָר [הִתְפַּלָּשְׁתִּי כ] (הִתְפַּלָּשִׁי׃ ק)
11 Sound the horn, inhabitant of Shaphir! She has not left her city, she who lives in Zaanan. Beth-Ezel istorn from its foundations, from its strong supports.	11 עִבְרִי לָכֶם יֹושֶׁבֶת שָׁפִיר עֶרְיָה־בֹשֶׁת לֹא יָצְאָה יֹושֶׁבֶת צַאֲנָן מִסְפַּד בֵּית הָאֵצֶל יִקַּח מִכֶּם עֶמְדָּתֹו
12 What hope has she of happiness, she who lives in Maroth? Instead Yahweh sent down disaster on thegateway of Jerusalem itself!	12 כִּי־חָלָה לְטֹוב יֹושֶׁבֶת מָרֹות כִּי־יָרַד רָע מֵאֵת יְהוָה לְשַׁעַר יְרוּשָׁלִָם
13 Harness the horse to the chariot, you inhabitant of Lachish! That is where the sin of the daughter ofZion began; the crimes of Israel can be traced to you!	13 רְתֹם הַמֶּרְכָּבָה לָרֶכֶשׁ יֹושֶׁבֶת לָכִישׁ רֵאשִׁית חַטָּאת הִיא לְבַת־צִיֹּון כִּי־בָךְ נִמְצְאוּ פִּשְׁעֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל
14 And so you must provide a dowry for Moresheth-Gath. Beth-Achzib wil prove a disappointment for thekings of Israel.	14 לָכֵן תִּתְּנִי שִׁלּוּחִים עַל מֹורֶשֶׁת גַּת בָּתֵּי אַכְזִיב לְאַכְזָב לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל
15 The plunderer will come to you again, you citizen of Mareshah! And into Adullam wil vanish the gloryof Israel.	15 עֹד הַיֹּרֵשׁ אָבִי לָךְ יֹושֶׁבֶת מָרֵשָׁה עַד־עֲדֻלָּם יָבֹוא כְּבֹוד יִשְׂרָאֵל
16 Off with your hair, shave your head, for the children that were your joy. Make yourselves bald like thevulture, for they have left you for exile.	16 קָרְחִי וָגֹזִּי עַל־בְּנֵי תַּעֲנוּגָיִךְ הַרְחִבִי קָרְחָתֵךְ כַּנֶּשֶׁר כִּי גָלוּ מִמֵּךְ׃ ס
	17 וְהִנֵּה כָּל־הַדֹּרוֹת מִן־אַבְרָהָם עַד־דָּוִד אַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר דֹּרוֹת וּמִן־דָּוִד עַד־גָּלוּת בָּבֶל אַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר דֹּרוֹת וּמֵעֵת גָּלוּת בָּבֶל עַד־הַמָּשִׁיחַ אַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר דֹּרוֹת
	18 וְהֻלֶּדֶת יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ כֹּה הָיָתָה מִרְיָם אִמּוֹ אֹרְשָׂה לְיוֹסֵף וּבְטֶרֶם יָבֹא אֵלֶיהָ נִמְצֵאת הָרָה לְרוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ
	19 וְיוֹסֵף בַּעְלָהּ הָיָה אִישׁ צַדִּיק וְלֹא אָבָה לְתִתָּהּ לָבוּז וַיֹּאמֶר בְּלִבּוֹ לְשַׁלְּחָהּ בַּסָּתֶר
	20 הוּא חשֵׁב כָּזֹאת וְהִנֵּה מַלְאַךְ יְהוָֹה נִרְאָה אֵלָיו בַּחֲלוֹם וַיֹּאמַר יוֹסֵף בֶּן־דָּוִד אַל־תִּירָא מִכְּנוֹס אֵלֶיךָ אֵת מִרְיָם אִשְׁתֶּךָ כִּי אֲשֶׁר הֹרָה בָהּ מֵרוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ הוּא
	21 וְהִיא יֹלֶדֶת בֵּן וְקָרָאתָ אֶת־שְׁמוֹ יֵשׁוּעַ כִּי הוּא יוֹשִׁיעַ אֶת־עַמּוֹ מֵעֲוֺנוֹתֵיהֶם
	22 וַתְּהִי כָל־זֹאת לְמַלֹּאת אֵת אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּר יְהוָֹה בְּיַד הַנָּבִיא לֵאמֹר
	23 הִנֵּה הָעַלְמָה הָרָה וְיֹלֶדֶת בֵּן וְקָרְאוּ שְׁמוֹ עִמָּנוּאֵל אֲשֶׁר פֵּרוּשׁוֹ הָאֵל עִמָּנוּ
	24 וַיִּיקַץ יוֹסֵף מִשְּׁנָתוֹ וַיַּעַשׂ כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּהוּ מַלְאַךְ יְהוָֹה וַיִּקַּח אֵלָיו אֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹ
	25 וְלֹא יְדָעָהּ עַד כִּי־יָלְדָה בֵּן אֶת־בְּכוֹרָהּ וַיִּקְרָא אֶת־שְׁמוֹ יֵשׁוּעַ
