Amos 6

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Disaster for those so comfortable in Zion and for those so confident on the hil of Samaria, the notablesof this first of nations, those to whom the House of Israel has recourse!	1 ¡Ay de los que se sienten seguros en Sión y de los que viven confiados en la montaña de Samaría, esos notables de la primera de las naciones, a los que acude la casa de Israel!
2 Travel to Calneh and look, go on from there to Hamath the great, then go down to Gath in Philistia. Arethey more powerful than these kingdoms? Is their territory larger than yours?	2 Pasen por Calné y vean, de allí, vayan a Jamat la grande, bajen después a Gat de Filistea. ¿Son ellas más prósperas que estos reinos, y su territorio es más grande que el de ustedes?
3 Thinking to defer the evil day, you are hastening the reign of violence.	3 ¡Ustedes creen alejar el día de la desgracia y apresuran el reinado de la violencia!
4 Lying on ivory beds and sprawling on their divans, they dine on lambs from the flock, and stal -fattened veal;	4 Acostados en lechos de marfil y apoltronados en sus divanes, comen los corderos del rebaño y los terneros sacados del establo.
5 they bawl to the sound of the lyre and, like David, they invent musical instruments;	5 Improvisan al son del arpa, y como David, inventan instrumentos musicales;
6 they drink wine by the bowlful, and lard themselves with the finest oils, but for the ruin of Joseph theycare nothing.	6 beben el vino en grandes copas y se ungen con los mejores aceites, pero no se afligen por la ruina de José.
7 That is why they wil now go into captivity, heading the column of captives. The sprawlers' revelry isover.	7 Por eso, ahora irán al cautiverio al frente de los deportados, y se terminará la orgía de los libertinos.
8 Lord Yahweh has sworn by his own self -declares Yahweh, God Sabaoth: I detest the pride of Jacob, Ihate his palaces, I shal hand over the city and al in it.	8 El Señor lo ha jurado por sí mismo –oráculo del Señor, Dios de los ejércitos–: Yo aborrezco el orgullo de Jacob, y detesto sus palacios; entregaré la ciudad y todo lo que hay en ella.
9 If ten people are left in a single house, they wil die	9 Y si quedan diez hombres en una sola casa, morirán.
10 and a few will be left to carry the bones from the house, and they will say to anyone deep inside thehouse, 'Any more there?' and he wil answer, 'No.' Then he wil say, 'Hush!-Yahweh's name must not bementioned.'	10 Sólo quedarán unos pocos fugitivos para sacar los huesos de la casa; y si se pregunta al que está en el fondo de la casa: «¿Hay alguien todavía contigo?», él responderá: «Nadie», y añadirá: «¡Silencio! ¡No hay que pronunciar ahora el nombre del Señor!».
11 For look, Yahweh gives the command: as he strikes, the great house fal s to pieces and the smalhouse is in fragments.	11 Porque el Señor da una orden y bajo sus golpes, la casa grande se derrumba y la pequeña se agrieta.
12 Can horses gal op over rocks? Can the sea be ploughed with oxen? Yet you have changed justiceinto poison, and the fruit of uprightness into wormwood,	12 ¿Acaso galopan los caballos por las rocas o se ara con bueyes en el mar? Pero ustedes convierten el derecho en veneno y el fruto de la justicia en ajenjo.
13 while rejoicing over Lo-Debar and saying, 'Wasn't it by our own strength that we captured Karnaim?'	13 Ustedes se alegran a causa de Lo Dabar y dicen: «¿No es acaso por nuestra fuerza que nos hemos apoderado de Carnaín?».
14 But look, House of Israel, against you -declares Yahweh, God Sabaoth- I am raising a nation tooppress you from the Pass of Hamath to the Gorge of the Arabah.	14 Por eso, yo voy a suscitar contra ustedes, casa de Israel –oráculo del Señor, Dios de los ejércitos– una nación que los oprimirá, desde la Entrada de Jamat hasta el torrente de la Arabá.
