Hosea 7

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 Whenever I would heal Israel, I am confronted by the guilt of Ephraim and the evil-doings of Samaria;for deceit is their principle of behaviour; the thief breaks into the house, marauders raid in the open;	1 La faute d’Éphraïm et les méchancetés de Samarie apparaissent au grand jour; ils pratiquent le mensonge; dans la maison entre le voleur, et au-dehors la bande fait des ravages.
2 and they never pause to consider that I remember al their wicked deeds; and now their own deeds hemthem in and stare me in the face.	2 Ils ne pensent pas que je me souviens de leur méchanceté, ils sont prisonniers de leurs actes que j’ai devant mes yeux.
3 They amuse the king with their wickedness and the chief men with their lies.	3 Leur méchanceté fait la joie du roi, leurs mensonges amusent les chefs.
4 They are al adulterers, hot as an oven which the baker need not stoke from the time he has kneadedthe dough until it rises.	4 Ce sont tous des adultères, ils sont comme un four brûlant que le boulanger ne cesse d’activer depuis l’instant où il a pétri la pâte jusqu’au moment où elle est levée.
5 At the holiday for our king, the ministers become inflamed with wine, while he accepts the homage ofpeople	5 Au jour de notre roi, les chefs s’échauffent et s’enivrent, et lui tend la main aux rieurs
6 who laugh at him. Their hearts are like an oven as they plot, all night their passion slumbers, then in themorning it bursts into flame;	6 quand ils s’approchent. Dans leurs complots, leur cœur est comme un four, toute la nuit leur colère sommeille, mais au matin elle brûle comme un feu dévorant.
7 yes, al of them as hot as ovens, they consume their rulers. All their kings have fal en thus, not one ofthem has ever cal ed on me.	7 Tous s’échauffent comme un four, ils dévorent leurs gouvernants. Tous leurs rois sont tombés ainsi, mais pas un d’entre eux n’a crié vers moi.
8 Ephraim mixes with the nations. Ephraim is a half-baked cake.	8 Éphraïm va vivre en terre étrangère, Éphraïm est comme une galette qu’on n’a pas retournée.
9 Foreigners have eaten his strength away but he is unconscious of it; even his hair is turning grey but heis unconscious of it.	9 Des étrangers dévorent sa force, mais lui ne le sait pas; il a des cheveux blancs, et lui seul l’ignore.
10 (Israel's arrogance is his own accuser; but they do not come back to Yahweh their God or seek him,despite al this.)	10 L’orgueil d’Israël témoigne contre lui: malgré tout cela ils ne reviennent pas vers Yahvé leur Dieu, ils ne le cherchent pas.
11 Ephraim is like a silly, witless pigeon cal ing on Egypt, turning to Assyria.	11 Éphraïm est une colombe naïve, sans intelligence; ils appellent l’Égypte, ils courent en Assyrie,
12 Wherever they turn, I shal spread my net over them, I shal bring them down like the birds of the sky, Ishall punish them for their perversity.	12 mais où qu’ils aillent, je tendrai sur eux mon filet; comme l’oiseau du ciel je les ferai tomber, mon filet les prendra pour leur malheur.
13 Woe to them for having fled from me! Ruin seize them for having wronged me! I have rescued themagain and again and they have only told lies about me.	13 Malheur à eux, car ils se sont retirés loin de moi! Que le mal les emporte car ils m’ont été infidèles! Dois-je les sauver alors qu’ils me mentent?
14 Theirs is no heartfelt cry to me when they lament on their beds; when they gash themselves over thegrain and new wine, they are stil rebelling against me.	14 Ils se lamentent sur leurs lits mais ils ne m’appellent pas de tout leur cœur. Ils se font du souci à propos de leur blé et du vin nouveau, mais ils se révoltent contre moi.
15 Though I supported and gave strength to their arms, they plan how to hurt me.	15 Je les ai instruits, je les ai rendus forts, et eux méditent le mal contre moi.
16 They turn to what does not exist, they are like a faulty bow. Their leaders wil fal by the swordbecause of their arrogant talk; how they wil be laughed at in Egypt!	16 Ils se tournent vers le mal, ils sont comme un arc qui se retourne. Leurs chefs vont tomber par l’épée à cause de leurs paroles méchantes, et l’on rira d’eux au pays d’Égypte.
