Hosea 12

1 Ephraim besieges me with lying, the House of Israel with duplicity. (But Judah stil is on God's side, heis faithful to the Holy One.)	1 - Efraim pascola il vento e insegue lo scirocco: ogni giorno più cresce la malafede e il guasto; ha fatto lega cogli Assiri e spedisce olio in Egitto.
2 Ephraim feeds himself on wind, all day he chases the wind from the East, he heaps up cheating andviolence; they make a treaty with Assyria, at the same time sending oil to Egypt.	2 Ond'è che il Signore farà causa con Giuda, e punizione su Giacobbe; secondo i suoi divisamenti e i suoi intenti gli renderà.
3 Yahweh has a case against Judah, he will punish Jacob as his conduct merits, he will repay him as hisdeeds deserve.	3 Nel ventre soppiantò egli suo fratello, e nel vigore dell'età si affrontò coll'angelo.
4 In the very womb he overreached his brother, in maturity he wrestled against God.	4 E prevalse sull'angelo e fu confortato; pianse e gli si raccomandò; in Betel lo ritrovò e parlò con noi.
5 He wrestled with the angel and beat him, he wept and pleaded with him. He met him at Bethel andthere God spoke to us-	5 E il Signore, il Dio degli eserciti, il Signore fu il suo pensiero.
6 yes, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, Yahweh is his title!	6 E tu al tuo Dio ti convertirai: conserva la pietà e la giustizia e spera nel tuo Dio continuamente.
7 So turn back with God's help, maintain faithful love and loyalty and always put your trust in your God.	7 Canaan, ha in mano le bilance false, è amante d'intrigo:
8 Merchants use fraudulent scales. To defraud is his delight.	8 ed Efraim ha detto: - Intanto mi sono arricchito, mi son procurato fortuna; tutti i miei traffici non mi trovano in alcuna colpa di cui mi si possa far rimprovero! -
9 'How rich I have become!' says Ephraim, 'I have made a fortune.' But of al his gains he wil keepnothing because of the sin of which he is guilty.	9 Eppure sono Io, il Signore Dio tuo della terra d'Egitto, che ti farò abitare ancora nelle tue tende come al dì di festa.
10 But I have been Yahweh your God since your days in Egypt and will make you live in tents again asin the days of Meeting.	10 E ne parlai a mezzo de' profeti e sono io che ho moltiplicato la visione e per mezzo dei profeti parlai in similitudine.
11 I will speak through prophets, I will give vision after vision and through the ministry of prophets wilspeak in parables.	11 Se Galaad è vanità, essi non sono che un nulla; a Galgala sacrificano buoi, e anche i loro altari sono come mucchi di pietre sui solchi dei campi.
12 Is Gilead a sink of iniquity? Yes, they are a worthless lot! At Gilgal they sacrifice to bulls, that is whytheir altars are like heaps of stones in a ploughed field.	12 Giacobbe fuggì nel paese di Siria e, per una donna, Israele fece il servo, e per una donna fece il guardiano di pecore.
13 Jacob fled to the countryside of Aram, Israel slaved to win a wife, to win a wife he looked after sheep.	13 Poi per un profeta fece Iddio salire dall'Egitto Israele e per un profeta fu custodito.
14 By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel out of Egypt and by a prophet Israel was preserved.	14 Efraim m'ha fatto irritare dai disgusti, ma il sangue suo si riverserà sopra di lui e il suo Signore gli renderà l'affronto.
15 Ephraim gave bitter provocation- Yahweh will bring his bloodshed down on him, his Lord wil repayhim for his insult.
