Hosea 11

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 When Israel was a child I loved him, and I cal ed my son out of Egypt.	1 Israele era giovane e io lo amai e dall'Egitto io chiamai mio figlio.
2 But the more I cal ed, the further they went away from me; they offered sacrifice to Baal and burntincense to idols.	2 Io li ho chiamati ma essi si sono allontanati da me; hanno sacrificato ai Baal e agli idoli hanno bruciato l'incenso.
3 I myself taught Ephraim to walk, I myself took them by the arm, but they did not know that I was theone caring for them,	3 bMa essi non si sono resi conto che ero io ad aver cura di loro.
4 that I was leading them with human ties, with leading-strings of love, that, with them, I was likesomeone lifting an infant to his cheek, and that I bent down to feed him.	4 con legami pieni di umanità li attiravo, con vincoli amorosi; per loro ero come chi leva il giogo dal collo; mi piegavo su di lui per dargli il cibo.
5 He wil not have to go back to Egypt, Assyria wil be his king instead! Since he has refused to comeback to me,	5 Egli ritornerà in terra d'Egitto e Assur sarà il suo re, perché hanno ricusato di tornare a me!
6 the sword wil rage through his cities, destroying the bars of his gates, devouring them because oftheir plots.	6 La spada porterà il lutto nelle sue città, sterminerà i suoi figli, li divorerà per i loro perversi consigli!
7 My people are bent on disregarding me; if they are summoned to come up, not one of them makes amove.	7 Il mio popolo è malato d'infedeltà! Essi invocano Baal, ma costui non li rialzerà!
8 Ephraim, how could I part with you? Israel, how could I give you up? How could I make you likeAdmah or treat you like Zeboi m? My heart within me is overwhelmed, fever grips my inmost being.	8 Come ti posso abbandonare, Efraim, lasciarti in balìa di altri, Israele? Come posso trattarti come Admà, considerarti come Zeboìm? Si sconvolge dentro di me il mio cuore e le mie viscere si riscaldano tutte.
9 I wil not give rein to my fierce anger, I wil not destroy Ephraim again, for I am God, not man, the HolyOne in your midst, and I shall not come to you in anger.	9 Non sfogherò il bollore della mia ira, non distruggerò più Efraim, perché io sono Dio e non un uomo, sono il Santo in mezzo a te che non ama distruggere!
10 They wil fol ow Yahweh; he wil roar like a lion, and when he roars, his children will come flutteringfrom the west,	10 Essi seguiranno il Signore; egli ruggirà come un leone; sì, egli ruggirà e accorreranno i figli dall'occidente.
11 fluttering like sparrows from Egypt, like pigeons from Assyria, and I shal settle them in their homes-declares Yahweh.	11 Accorreranno come un uccello dall'Egitto e come una colomba dal paese d'Assiria e li farò abitare nelle loro case. Oracolo del Signore.
