Hosea 11

1 When Israel was a child I loved him, and I cal ed my son out of Egypt.	1 Quand Israël était enfant je l’ai aimé, d’Égypte j’ai appelé mon fils.
2 But the more I cal ed, the further they went away from me; they offered sacrifice to Baal and burntincense to idols.	2 Mais plus je les appelais, plus ils se sont détournés; ils ont offert des sacrifices aux Baals, ils ont fait fumer l’encens devant les idoles.
3 I myself taught Ephraim to walk, I myself took them by the arm, but they did not know that I was theone caring for them,	3 C’était moi, pourtant, qui apprenais à marcher à Éphraïm. Je les prenais dans mes bras, mais ils ne voyaient pas que je prenais soin d’eux.
4 that I was leading them with human ties, with leading-strings of love, that, with them, I was likesomeone lifting an infant to his cheek, and that I bent down to feed him.	4 Je les menais avec des liens humains, avec des liens d’amour; j’étais pour eux comme celui qui soulève un nourrisson contre sa joue et lui donne à manger.
5 He wil not have to go back to Egypt, Assyria wil be his king instead! Since he has refused to comeback to me,	5 Qu’ils retournent au pays d’Égypte! L’Assyrie régnera sur eux puisqu’ils ont refusé de revenir vers moi.
6 the sword wil rage through his cities, destroying the bars of his gates, devouring them because oftheir plots.	6 L’épée se déchaînera dans ses villes et exterminera ses enfants; elle dévorera leurs forteresses.
7 My people are bent on disregarding me; if they are summoned to come up, not one of them makes amove.	7 Mon peuple est malade de son infidélité; ce n’est pas Baal qui les relèvera s’ils font appel à lui.
8 Ephraim, how could I part with you? Israel, how could I give you up? How could I make you likeAdmah or treat you like Zeboi m? My heart within me is overwhelmed, fever grips my inmost being.	8 Comment pourrais-je t’abandonner, Éphraïm, ou te livrer, Israël? Puis-je te traiter comme Adma ou faire de toi ce que j’ai fait de Séboyim? Mon cœur se fond en moi, je suis ému au plus profond de moi-même.
9 I wil not give rein to my fierce anger, I wil not destroy Ephraim again, for I am God, not man, the HolyOne in your midst, and I shall not come to you in anger.	9 Non, je ne laisserai pas déborder ma colère, je ne détruirai pas de nouveau Éphraïm, car je suis Dieu et non pas homme; au milieu de toi je suis le Saint et je ne viendrai pas pour détruire.
10 They wil fol ow Yahweh; he wil roar like a lion, and when he roars, his children will come flutteringfrom the west,	10 Ils se mettront à la suite de Yahvé. Il rugira comme un lion et, quand il rugira, ses fils viendront en tremblant de l’occident.
11 fluttering like sparrows from Egypt, like pigeons from Assyria, and I shal settle them in their homes-declares Yahweh.	11 Comme un oiseau frémissant ils reviendront d’Assyrie, ce sera un retour d’Égypte. Je ferai qu’ils habitent de nouveau dans leurs maisons - parole de Yahvé.
