1 In his anger, with what darkness has the Lord enveloped the daughter of Zion! He has flung the beautyof Israel from heaven to the ground, without regard for his footstool on the day of his anger.	1 ALEE. Come mai il Signore nel suo furore ha coperta di tenebre la figlia di Sion? Ha scagliata di cielo in terra la gloria d'Israele, e non s'è ricordato dello sgabello dei suoi piedi nel giorno del suo sdegno. BET.
2 The Lord pitilessly engulfed all the homes of Jacob; in his fury he tore down the fortresses of thedaughter of Judah; he threw to the ground, he desecrated the kingdom and its princes.	2 Il Signore ha distrutto senza pietà tutto ciò che v'era di bello in Giacobbe, abbattè nel suo furore le fortezze della vergine di Giuda, atterrò, e profanò il regno e i suoi principi. 3 In his burning anger he broke al the might of Israel, withdrew his protecting right hand at the coming ofthe enemy, and blazed against Jacob like a fire that burns up everything near it.	3 Nell'ira sua furibonda infranse tutta la potenza d'Israele, ritirò la sua destra al venir del nemico, ha fatto divampare in Giacobbe come un fuoco fiammante che divora tutto all'intorno. 9 Her gates have sunk into the ground; he has broken and shattered their bars. Her king and her princesare among the gentiles, there is no instruction, furthermore her prophets cannot find any vision from Yahweh.	9 Le sue porte sono affondate nella terra, ne ha guaste e spezzate le sbarre. 10 Mute, they sit on the ground, the elders of the daughter of Zion; they have put dust on their heads andwrapped themselves in sackcloth. 11 My eyes are worn out with weeping, my inmost being is in ferment, my heart plummets at thedestruction of my young people, as the children and babies grow faint in the streets of the city.	11 I miei occhi si spensero dallo lacrime, le mie viscere tremaro­no, mi si sparse per terra il fegato, per lo scempio della figlia del mio popolo, quando i fanciulli e i bambini di latte venivan meno per lepiazze della città. 12 They keep saying to their mothers, 'Where is some food?' as they faint like wounded men in thestreets of the city, as they breathe their last on their mothers' breasts.	12 Essi dicevano alle loro madri:« Dov'è il pane e il vino? » quan­do cadevano come feriti per le piazze della città, quando rendevan l'anima sul seno delle loro madri. 13 To what can I compare or liken you, daughter of Jerusalem? Who can rescue and comfort you, youngdaughter of Zion? For huge as the sea is your ruin: who can heal you?	13 A chi ti paragonerò, a chi ti assomiglierò, o figlia di Gerusa­lemme? A chi ti farò uguale per consolarti, o vergine figlia di Sion? Grande qual mare è la tuaafflizione: chi potrà darti il rime­dio? NUN.
14 The visions your prophets had for you were deceptive whitewash; they did not lay bare your guilt soas to change your fortunes: the visions they told you were deceptive.	14 I tuoi profeti ebbero per te visioni false e stolte, nè a te manifestarono la tua iniquità, per muoverti a penitenza, contemplarono per te oracoli di menzogna, e di scacciamenti. 15 Al who pass your way clap their hands at the sight; they whistle and shake their heads over thedaughter of Jerusalem, 'Is this the city they cal Perfection of Beauty, the joy of the whole world?'	15 Batteron le mani sopra di te tutti quelli che passavan per la strada, fischiavano e scotevan o il loro capo sopra la figlia di Gerusalemme: « E' dunque questa — dicevano — la città di perfetta bellezza, la gioia di tutta quanta la terra? » FE.
16 Your enemies open their mouths in chorus against you; they whistle and grind their teeth; they say,'We have swallowed her up. This is the day we were waiting for; at last we have seen it!'	16 Spalancarono contro di te la loro bocca, tutti i tuoi nemici, facendo fischiate e digrignando i denti dissero: « La divoreremo: ecco il giorno da noi aspettato; ci siamo arrivati, lo vediamo! » AIN.
17 Yahweh has done what he planned, has carried out his threat, as he ordained long ago: he hasdestroyed without pity, increasing the might of your foes -- and letting your foes get the credit.	17 Il Signore ha fatto ciò che aveva stabilito, ha adempiuto la sua parola, da lui decretata fin dagli antichi giorni: ha distrutto senza pietà; ha fatto esultare sopra di te il nemico, ha esaltato il corno dei tuoi avversari. SADE.
18 Cry then to the Lord, rampart of the daughter of Zion; let your tears flow like a torrent, day and night;al ow yourself no respite, give your eyes no rest!	18 Il loro cuore ha gridato al Signore sulle mura della figlia di Sion: « Versa, qual torrente, lacrime giorno e notte, non ti dar pace, non abbia riposo la pupilla del tuo occhio. 19 Up, cry out in the night-time as each watch begins! Pour your heart out like water in Yahweh'spresence! Raise your hands to him for the lives of your children (who faint with hunger at the end of everystreet)!	19 Sorgi, alza la voce nella notte, al cominciar delle vigilie, effondi come acqua il tuo cuore al cospetto del Signore, innalza verso di lui le tue mani per la vita dei tuoi pargoletti, che vengono meno per la fame in capo a tutte le strade ». 20 Look, Yahweh, and consider: whom have you ever treated like this? Should women eat their littleones, the children they have nursed? Should priest and prophet be slaughtered in the Lord's sanctuary?	20 Mira, Signore, considera: chi hai trattato in questa maniera. Sarà dunque vero che le donne mangino il frutto delle loro viscere, i bambini dell'altezza d'un palmo? E sarà ucciso nel santuario del Signore il Sacerdote e il profeta? SIN.
21 Children and old people are lying on the ground in the streets; my young men and young girls havefal en by the sword; you have kil ed them, on the day of your anger, you have slaughtered them pitilessly.	21 Giacquero per terra nelle strade fanciulli e vecchi, le mie vergini, i miei giovani son caduti di spada: li hai uccisi nel giorno del tuo furore, senza pietà li hai macellati. TATI.
22 As though to a festival you cal ed together terrors from al sides, so that, on the day of Yahweh'sanger, none escaped and none survived. Those whom I had nursed and reared, my enemy has annihilated themal .	22 Chiamasti come a un giorno di festa chi da ogni parte mi spaventasse, non vi fu nel giorno del furore del Signore nè scampato nè superstite: quelli da me allevati e nutriti li ha sterminati il nemico.
