1 How deserted she sits, the city once thronged with people! Once the greatest of nations, she is nowlike a widow. Once the princess of states, she is now put to forced labour.	1 Dopo che Israele fu condotto in schiavitù e Gerusalemme restò deserta, il profeta Geremia sedette pieno di lacrime, e pianse sopra Gerusalemme con questa lamentazione. Col cuore straziato, sospirando e gridando, disse: Come mai siede solitaria la città popolosa? E' diventata come vedova la dominatrice delle nazioni, la regina delle provincie è obbligata al tributo. 2 Al night long she is weeping, tears running down her cheeks. Not one of al her lovers remains tocomfort her. Her friends have al betrayed her and become her enemies.	2 Piange inconsolabile durante la notte, lacrimose son le sue guance; non v'è chi la consoli tra tutti i suoi cari: tutti i suoi amici l'han disprezzata, le son diventati nemici. 3 Judah has gone into exile after much pain and toil. Living among the nations she finds no respite; herpersecutors al overtake her where there is no way out.	3 Giuda è andato in esilio, affranto da dura schiavitù, dimora tra le nazioni, senza trovar ripo­so: tutti i suoi persecutori l'han chiuso in gole anguste. 4 The roads to Zion are in mourning; no one comes to her festivals now. Her gateways are al deserted;her priests groan; her young girls are grief-stricken; she suffers bitterly.	4 Le vie di Sion piangono, chè nessuno va più alla festa; tutte le sue porte son distrutte; i suoi sacerdoti gemono, le sue vergini sono squallide, ed essa è oppressa dall'amarezza. 5 Her foes now have the upper hand, her enemies prosper, for Yahweh has made her suffer for hermany, many crimes; her children have gone away into captivity driven in front of the oppressor.	5 I suoi avversari han preso il sopravvento, i suoi nemici prosperano; perchè il Signore parlò, contro di lei, per le molte sue iniquità; i suoi bambini son menati in schiavitù, cacciati dall'oppressore. VAU.
6 And from the daughter of Zion al her splendour has departed. Her princes were like stags which couldfind no pasture, exhausted, as they flee before the hunter.	6 La figlia di Sion ha perduto tutto il suo splendore. I suoi principi son diventati come arieti che non trovano pastura, e son fuggiti privi di forze davanti a chi loro corre dietro. ZAIN.
7 Jerusalem remembers her days of misery and distress; when her people fel into the enemy's clutchesthere was no one to help her. Her enemies looked on and laughed at her downfal .	7 Gerusalemme si ricorda dei suoi giorni d'afflizione e di prevaricazione, di tutti i beni preziosi che possedeva fin dai tempi antichi. Quando il suo popolo cadeva per mano nemica, senza aiuto di nessuno, la videro i nemici, e derisero i suoi sabati. HET.
8 Jerusalem has sinned so gravely that she has become a thing unclean. All who used to honour herdespise her, having seen her nakedness; she herself groans aloud and turns her face away.	8 Gerusalemme fece un gran peccato, e per questo è divenuta errante: tutti quelli che l'onoravano l'han disprezzata, perchè han veduta la sua vergogna; ed anch'essa, sospirando, nasconde la faccia. TET.
9 Her filth befouls her skirts -- she never thought to end like this, and hence her astonishing fal with noone to comfort her. Yahweh, look at my misery, for the enemy is triumphant!	9 La sua immondezza giunge ai suoi piedi; essa non si ricordò del suo fine, ed è caduta precipitosamente, senza aver chi la consoli. Guarda, o Signore, la mia afflizione, chè il nemico trionfa. IOD.
10 The enemy stretched out his hand for everything she treasured; she saw the heathen enter hersanctuary, whom you had forbidden to enter your Assembly.	10 L'oppressore ha stesa la mano sulle cose a lei più care ed essa ha visto entrare nel suo santuario le Genti, riguardo alle quali avevi ordinato che non entrassero nella tua adunanza. CAF.
11 Al her people are groaning, looking for something to eat; they have bartered their treasures for food,to keep themselves alive. Look, Yahweh, and consider how despised I am!	11 Tutto il suo popolo geme e cerca del pane; diedero le cose più preziose per gli alimenti, per riaver la vita. Guarda, o Signore, e considera come sono avvilita. LAMED.
12 Al you who pass this way, look and see: is any sorrow like the sorrow inflicted on me, with whichYahweh struck me on the day of his burning anger?	12 O voi tutti che passate per la via, fermatevi e guardate se v'è dolore simile al mio dolore, or che il Signore m'ha vendemmiata, come disse, nel giorno dell'ira sua furibonda. MEM.
13 He sent fire from on high deep into my bones; he stretched a net for my feet, he pulled me back; heleft me shattered, sick al day long.	13 Dall'alto mandò nelle mie ossa un fuoco, e m'ha insegnato; tese una rete ai miei piedi, e mi fe' cadere all'indietro; m'ha resa desolata, consumata tutto il giorno dal dolore. NUN.
14 He has watched out for my offences, with his hand he enmeshes me, his yoke is on my neck, he hasdeprived me of strength. The Lord has put me into clutches which I am helpless to resist.	14 Preparò il giogo delle mie iniquità: nelle sue mani divennero un fascio; lo pose sul mio collo. Le mie forze son mancate; il Signore m'ha consegnata a mani dalle quali non potrò uscire. SAMEC.
15 The Lord has rejected all my warriors within my walls, he has summoned a host against me to crushmy young men; in the winepress the Lord trampled the young daughter of Judah.	15 Ha tolti tutti i prodi il Signore di mezzo a me, ha chiamato contro di me il tempo per annientare i miei campioni. Il Signore ha stretta al torchio la vergine figlia di Giuda. AIN.
16 And that is why I weep; my eyes stream with water, since a comforter who could revive me is faraway. My children are shattered, for the enemy has proved too strong.	16 Per questo io piango, gli occhi miei si struggono in lacrime, perchè s'è allontanato da me il consolatore, colui che ravviva l'anima mia. I figli miei son perduti, perchè il nemico ha trionfato. FE.
17 Zion stretches out her hands, with no one to comfort her. Yahweh has commanded Jacob's enemiesto surround him; they treat Jerusalem as though she were unclean.	17 Sion stende le mani, ma nessuno la consola: il Signore ha dato un ordine contro Giacobbe, che fosse accerchiato dai suoi nemici; Gerusalemme è diventata in mezzo a loro come donna immonda. SADE.
18 Yahweh is in the right, for I rebel ed against his command. Listen, al you peoples, and see my sorrow.My young girls and my young men have gone into captivity. Qophp	18 Il Signore è giusto, perchè ho provocato a sdegno la sua bocca. Ascoltate, ve ne prego, o popoli tutti, guardate il mio dolore: le mie vergini, i miei giovani sono andati in esilio. COF.
19 I cal ed to my lovers; they failed me. My priests and my elders expired in the city, as they searched forfood to keep themselves alive.	19 Chiamai i miei amici, ed essi mi hanno ingannata. I miei sacerdoti e i miei anziani son periti nella città, mentre cercavano il loro nutrimento per sostenere la loro vita. RES.
20 Look, Yahweh. I am in distress! My inmost being is in ferment; my heart turns over inside me -- howrebellious I have been! Outside, the sword bereaves; inside it is like death.	20 Guarda, o Signore, come son tribolata; le mie viscere sono conturbate, il mio cuore è sconvolto dentro di me, perchè son piena d'amarezza: fuori uccide la spada, dentro fa lo stesso la mortalità. SIN.
21 Listen, for I am groaning, with no one to comfort me. Al my enemies have heard of my disaster, theyare glad about what you have done. Bring the Day you once foretold, so that they may be like me!	21 Han sentiti i miei gemiti, e non v'è chi mi consoli; tutti i miei nemici han sapute le mie sventure, ed han tripudiato, perchè sono opera tua; manda il giorno della consolazione, e diverranno simili a me. TAU.
22 Let al their wickedness come before you, and treat them as you have treated me for al my crimes;numberless are my groans, and I am sick at heart.	22 Ti sia presente tutta la loro malizia, vendemmiali come hai vendemmiato me per tutte le mie iniquità. Chè molti sono i miei gemiti, e il mio cuore è triste.
