NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 How deserted she sits, the city once thronged with people! Once the greatest of nations, she is nowlike a widow. Once the princess of states, she is now put to forced labour.	1 (Alef) Come sta solitaria la città un tempo ricca di popolo! È divenuta come una vedova, la grande fra le nazioni; la signora tra le province è sottoposta a lavori forzati.
2 Al night long she is weeping, tears running down her cheeks. Not one of al her lovers remains tocomfort her. Her friends have al betrayed her and become her enemies.	2 (Bet) Piange amaramente nella notte, le sue lacrime sulle sue guance. Nessuno la consola, fra tutti i suoi amanti. Tutti i suoi amici l’hanno tradita, le sono divenuti nemici.
3 Judah has gone into exile after much pain and toil. Living among the nations she finds no respite; herpersecutors al overtake her where there is no way out.	3 (Ghimel) Giuda è deportato in miseria e in dura schiavitù. Abita in mezzo alle nazioni, e non trova riposo; tutti i suoi persecutori l’hanno raggiunto fra le angosce.
4 The roads to Zion are in mourning; no one comes to her festivals now. Her gateways are al deserted;her priests groan; her young girls are grief-stricken; she suffers bitterly.	4 (Dalet) Le strade di Sion sono in lutto, nessuno si reca più alle sue feste; tutte le sue porte sono deserte, i suoi sacerdoti sospirano, le sue vergini sono afflitte ed essa è nell’amarezza.
5 Her foes now have the upper hand, her enemies prosper, for Yahweh has made her suffer for hermany, many crimes; her children have gone away into captivity driven in front of the oppressor.	5 (He) I suoi avversari sono suoi padroni, i suoi nemici prosperano, perché il Signore l’ha afflitta per i suoi misfatti senza numero; i suoi bambini sono andati in esilio, sospinti dal nemico.
6 And from the daughter of Zion al her splendour has departed. Her princes were like stags which couldfind no pasture, exhausted, as they flee before the hunter.	6 (Vau) Dalla figlia di Sion è scomparso ogni splendore. I suoi capi sono diventati come cervi che non trovano pascolo; camminano senza forze davanti agli inseguitori.
7 Jerusalem remembers her days of misery and distress; when her people fel into the enemy's clutchesthere was no one to help her. Her enemies looked on and laughed at her downfal .	7 (Zain) Gerusalemme ricorda i giorni della sua miseria e del suo vagare, tutti i suoi beni preziosi dal tempo antico, quando il suo popolo cadeva per mano del nemico e nessuno le porgeva aiuto. I suoi nemici la guardavano e ridevano della sua rovina.
8 Jerusalem has sinned so gravely that she has become a thing unclean. All who used to honour herdespise her, having seen her nakedness; she herself groans aloud and turns her face away.	8 (Het) Gerusalemme ha peccato gravemente ed è divenuta un abominio. Quanti la onoravano la disprezzano, perché hanno visto la sua nudità. Anch’essa sospira e si volge per nasconderla.
9 Her filth befouls her skirts -- she never thought to end like this, and hence her astonishing fal with noone to comfort her. Yahweh, look at my misery, for the enemy is triumphant!	9 (Tet) La sua sozzura è nei lembi della sua veste, non pensava alla sua fine; è caduta in modo inatteso e nessuno la consola. «Guarda, Signore, la mia miseria, perché il nemico trionfa».
10 The enemy stretched out his hand for everything she treasured; she saw the heathen enter hersanctuary, whom you had forbidden to enter your Assembly.	10 (Iod) L’avversario ha steso la mano su tutte le sue cose più preziose; ha visto penetrare nel suo santuario i pagani, mentre tu, Signore, avevi loro proibito di entrare nella tua assemblea.
11 Al her people are groaning, looking for something to eat; they have bartered their treasures for food,to keep themselves alive. Look, Yahweh, and consider how despised I am!	11 (Caf) Tutto il suo popolo sospira in cerca di pane; danno gli oggetti più preziosi in cambio di cibo, per sostenersi in vita. «Osserva, Signore, e considera come sono disprezzata!
12 Al you who pass this way, look and see: is any sorrow like the sorrow inflicted on me, with whichYahweh struck me on the day of his burning anger?	12 (Lamed) Voi tutti che passate per la via, considerate e osservate se c’è un dolore simile al mio dolore, al dolore che ora mi tormenta, e con cui il Signore mi ha afflitta nel giorno della sua ira ardente.
13 He sent fire from on high deep into my bones; he stretched a net for my feet, he pulled me back; heleft me shattered, sick al day long.	13 (Mem) Dall’alto egli ha scagliato un fuoco, nelle mie ossa lo ha fatto penetrare. Ha teso una rete ai miei piedi, mi ha fatto tornare indietro. Mi ha reso desolata, affranta da languore per sempre.
14 He has watched out for my offences, with his hand he enmeshes me, his yoke is on my neck, he hasdeprived me of strength. The Lord has put me into clutches which I am helpless to resist.	14 (Nun) S’è aggravato il giogo delle mie colpe, dalla sua mano sono annodate. Sono cresciute fin sul mio collo e hanno fiaccato la mia forza. Il Signore mi ha messo nelle loro mani, non posso alzarmi.
15 The Lord has rejected all my warriors within my walls, he has summoned a host against me to crushmy young men; in the winepress the Lord trampled the young daughter of Judah.	15 (Samec) Il Signore in mezzo a me ha ripudiato tutti i miei prodi, ha chiamato a raccolta contro di me per fiaccare i miei giovani; il Signore ha pigiato nel torchio la vergine figlia di Giuda.
16 And that is why I weep; my eyes stream with water, since a comforter who could revive me is faraway. My children are shattered, for the enemy has proved too strong.	16 (Ain) Per questo piango, e dal mio occhio scorrono lacrime, perché lontano da me è chi consola, chi potrebbe ridarmi la vita; i miei figli sono desolati, perché il nemico ha prevalso».
17 Zion stretches out her hands, with no one to comfort her. Yahweh has commanded Jacob's enemiesto surround him; they treat Jerusalem as though she were unclean.	17 (Pe) Sion protende le mani, nessuno la consola. Contro Giacobbe il Signore ha mandato da tutte le parti i suoi nemici. Gerusalemme è divenuta per loro un abominio.
18 Yahweh is in the right, for I rebel ed against his command. Listen, al you peoples, and see my sorrow.My young girls and my young men have gone into captivity. Qophp	18 (Sade) «Giusto è il Signore, poiché mi sono ribellata alla sua parola. Ascoltate, vi prego, popoli tutti, e osservate il mio dolore! Le mie vergini e i miei giovani sono andati in schiavitù.
19 I cal ed to my lovers; they failed me. My priests and my elders expired in the city, as they searched forfood to keep themselves alive.	19 (Kof) Ho chiamato i miei amanti, ma mi hanno tradita; i miei sacerdoti e i miei anziani sono spirati in città, mentre cercavano cibo per sostenersi in vita.
20 Look, Yahweh. I am in distress! My inmost being is in ferment; my heart turns over inside me -- howrebellious I have been! Outside, the sword bereaves; inside it is like death.	20 (Res) Guarda, Signore, quanto sono in angoscia; le mie viscere si agitano, dentro di me è sconvolto il mio cuore, poiché sono stata veramente ribelle. Di fuori la spada mi priva dei figli, dentro c’è la morte.
21 Listen, for I am groaning, with no one to comfort me. Al my enemies have heard of my disaster, theyare glad about what you have done. Bring the Day you once foretold, so that they may be like me!	21 (Sin)Senti come gemo, e nessuno mi consola. Tutti i miei nemici hanno saputo della mia sventura, hanno gioito, perché tu l’hai fatto. Manda il giorno che hai decretato ed essi siano simili a me!
22 Let al their wickedness come before you, and treat them as you have treated me for al my crimes;numberless are my groans, and I am sick at heart.	22 (Tau) Giunga davanti a te tutta la loro malvagità, trattali come hai trattato me per tutti i miei peccati. Sono molti i miei gemiti e il mio cuore si consuma»
