Jeremiah 51

1 Yahweh says this: Against Babylon and the inhabitants of Leb-Kamai I shal rouse a destructive wind.	1 Így szól az Úr: »Íme, én pusztító szelet támasztok Babilon ellen és Léb-Kamai lakói ellen.
2 I shal send winnowers to Babylon to winnow her and leave her country bare, for she wil bebeleaguered on all sides, on the day of disaster.	2 Idegeneket küldök Babilonba, akik szélnek szórják, és kifosztják országát. Bizony, ellene fordulnak mindenfelől a veszedelem napján.

5 For Israel and Judah have not been bereft of their God, Yahweh Sabaoth, although their country wasful of sin against the Holy One of Israel.	5 Mert nem hagyta özvegyen Izraelt és Júdát az ő Istenük, a Seregek Ura; azok országa pedig tele van vétekkel Izrael Szentje előtt.

10 Yahweh has shown the uprightness of our cause. Come, let us tell in Zion what Yahweh our God hasdone.	10 Napfényre hozta az Úr igazságunkat; jöjjetek, és beszéljük el Sionban az Úrnak, a mi Istenünknek művét!«
11 Sharpen the arrows, fill the quivers! Yahweh has roused the spirit of the kings of the Medes, becausehe has a plan against Babylon to destroy it; this is Yahweh's revenge, revenge for his Temple.	11 Hegyezzétek a nyilakat, töltsétek meg a tegzeket! 12 Against the wal s of Babylon raise the standard! Strengthen the guard! Post the sentries! Take upconcealed positions! For Yahweh has both planned and done what he promised he would to the inhabitants ofBabylon.	12 Babilon falai ellen emeljetek zászlót, erősítsétek meg az őrséget, állítsatok őröket, készítsétek a leshelyeket! 14 By his own self Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn: I shal fil you with men as though with grasshoppers,and over you they wil raise the triumph-shout.	14 Megesküdött a Seregek Ura önmagára: »Ha meg is töltöttelek annyi emberrel, mint a sáska, felhangzik majd fölötted a diadalének.«
15 By his power he made the earth, by his wisdom set the world firm, by his discernment spread out theheavens.	15 Aki alkotta a földet erejével, megszilárdította a földkerekséget bölcsességével, és értelmével kifeszítette az egeket,

25 I am setting myself against you, mountain of destruction, Yahweh declares, destroyer of the wholeworld! 27 Raise the standard throughout the world, sound the trumpet among the nations! Consecrate nationsto make war on her; summon kingdoms against her: Ararat, Minni, Ashkenaz; appoint a recruiting-officer for herenemies, bring up the cavalry, bristling like locusts.	27 Emeljetek zászlót a földön, fújjátok meg a harsonát a nemzetek között! Szenteljetek ellene nemzeteket, hívjátok össze ellene Ararát, Menni és Askenáz királyságait! Rendeljetek ellene összeírót, vonultassatok fel lovakat, mint borzas sáskákat!
28 Consecrate nations to make war on her: the kings of Media, her governors, all her magistrates andthe whole territory under their rule.	28 Szenteljetek ellene nemzeteket, Média királyait, helytartóit és minden kormányzóját, az uralma alatt álló egész földet!
29 Then the earth trembled and writhed, for Yahweh's plan against Babylon was being executed: tochange the country of Babylon into an unpopulated desert.	29 Megrendült a föld, és megremegett, mert beteljesedett Babilonon az Úr terve, hogy Babilon földjét pusztasággá tegye, és ne legyen lakója.
30 The warriors of Babylon have done with fighting, they have stayed inside their fortresses; theircourage exhausted, they are now like women. 34 He devoured me, consumed me, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, left me like an empty dish, like theDragon he has swal owed me whole, filled his belly with my titbits and threw me out.	34 »Megevett, felemésztett engem Nebukadnezár, Babilon királya, félreállított, mint üres edényt; elnyelt engem, mint egy sárkány, megtöltötte hasát ínyencségeimmel, majd eltaszított engem.«
35 'On Babylon be the wounds I suffered!' the daughter of Zion wil say. 'On the inhabitants of Chaldaeabe my blood!' Jerusalem wil say.	35 »A testemen elkövetett erőszak szálljon Babilonra!« – mondja Sion lakója. »Vérem szálljon Káldea lakóira!« – mondja Jeruzsálem.
36 So, Yahweh says this: Look, I am taking up your cause to make sure you are avenged. I shal dry herriver up, make her springs run dry.	36 Ezért így szól az Úr: »Íme, én perlem peredet, és bosszút állok érted; kiszárítom tengerét, és kiapasztom forrását.
37 Babylon wil become a heap of stones, the lair of jackals, a thing of horror and of scorn, with no oneliving in it.	37 Kőhalmazzá lesz Babilon, sakálok tanyájává, borzadállyá és gúny tárgyává, s nem lesz lakója.
38 Like lions they roar together, they growl like lions' whelps.	38 Együtt ordítanak, mint az oroszlánkölykök, morognak, mint a fiatal oroszlánok.
39 Are they feverish? I wil prepare them a drink and make them drink until they are tipsy and fal into aneverlasting sleep, never to wake again, Yahweh declares.	39 Mikor fölhevülnek, lakomát készítek nekik, és lerészegítem őket, hogy vigadjanak, majd örök álomba szenderüljenek, és ne ébredjenek fel – mondja az Úr. –

46 But do not be faint-hearted! Do not take fright at rumours hawked round the country: one rumourspreads one year, next year another fol ows; violence rules on earth and one tyrant succeeds another.	46 Ne lágyuljon meg szívetek, és ne ijedjetek meg a hírtől, mely hallatszik a földön! 59 This is the order that the prophet Jeremiah gave to Seraiah son of Neriah, son of Mahseiah whenSeraiah left for Babylon with Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year of his reign. 64 with the words, "So shal Babylon sink, never to rise again from the disaster which I am going to bringon her."
