Jeremiah 35

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah,	1 Palabra que fue dirigida a Jeremías de parte de Yahveh, en tiempo de Yoyaquim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá.
2 'Go to the clan of the Rechabites and speak to them; bring them into one of the rooms of the Temple ofYahweh and offer them wine to drink.'	2 «Ve a la casa de los rekabitas y les hablas. Les llevas a la Casa de Yahveh, a una de las cámaras, y les escancias vino».
3 So I took Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, with his brothers and al his sons, the wholeRechabite clan,	3 Tomé, pues, a Yazanías, hijo de Jeremías, hijo de Jabassinías, y a sus hermanos, a todos sus hijos y a toda la casa de los rekabitas,
4 and brought them to the Temple of Yahweh into the room of Ben-Johanan son of Igdaliah, a man ofGod, which was next to that of the chief men, above the room of Maaseiah son of Shal um, guardian of thethreshold.	4 y les llevé a la Casa de Yahveh, a la cámera de Ben Yojanán, hijo de Yigdalías, hombre de Dios, la cual cámara está al lado de la de los jefes, y encima de la de Maaseías, hijo de Sallum, guarda del umbral,
5 I then set pitchers ful of wine, and some cups, before the members of the Rechabite clan and said,'Drink some wine.'	5 y presentando a los hijos de la casa de los rekabitas unos jarros llenos de vino y tazas, les dije: «¡Bebed vino!»
6 But they replied, 'We do not drink wine, because our ancestor Jonadab son of Rechab gave us thisorder, "You must not drink wine, neither you nor your sons for ever;	6 Dijeron ellos: «No bebemos vino, porque nuestro padre Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, nos dio este mandato: “No beberéis vino ni vosotros ni vuestros hijos nunca jamás,
7 nor must you build houses, sow seed, plant vineyards or own them, but must live in tents all your lives,so that you may live long on the soil to which you are alien."	7 ni edificaréis casa, ni sembraréis semilla, ni plantaréis viñedo, ni poseeréis nada, sino que en tiendas pasaréis toda vuestra existencia, para que viváis muchos días sobre la faz del suelo, donde sois forasteros.”
8 We have punctiliously obeyed the orders of our ancestor, Jonadab son of Rechab, never drinking wineourselves, nor our wives, our sons or our daughters,	8 Nosotros hemos obedecido a la voz de nuestro padre Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, en todo cuanto nos mandó, absteniéndonos de beber vino de por vida, nosotros, nuestras mujeres, nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas,
9 not building houses to live in, owning neither vineyard nor field nor seed,	9 y no edificando casas donde vivir, ni poseyendo viña ni campo de sementera,
10 living in tents. We have obeyed the orders of our ancestor Jonadab, respecting them in everyparticular.	10 sino que hemos vivido en tiendas, obedeciendo y obrando en todo conforme a lo que nos mandó nuestro padre Yonadab.
11 However, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded this country, we decided, "We must getaway! We will go to Jerusalem to escape the armies of the Chaldaeans and Aramaeans." So that is why we areliving in Jerusalem.'	11 Pero al subir Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, contra el país, dijimos: “Venid y entremos en Jerusalén, para huir de las fuerzas caldeas y de las de Arán”, y nos instalamos en Jerusalén».
12 Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah as follows,	12 Entonces fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh a Jeremías como sigue:
13 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "Go and say to the people of Judah and the inhabitantsof Jerusalem: Wil you never learn the lesson and listen to my words, Yahweh demands?	13 Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: Ve y dices a los hombres de Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén: ¿ No aprenderéis la lección que os invita a escuchar mis palabras? - oráculo de Yahveh -.
14 The words of Jonadab son of Rechab, ordering his sons to drink no wine, have been observed;obedient to their ancestor's command, they drink none even today . But to me, who spoke to you so urgently, sountiringly, you have not listened.	14 Se ha cumplido la palabra de Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, que prohibió a sus hijos beber vino, y no han bebido hasta la fecha, porque obedecieron la orden de su padre. Yo me afané en hablaros a vosotros y no me oísteis.
15 I have urgently and untiringly sent you al my servants the prophets to say: Turn back, each one ofyou, from your evil behaviour and amend your actions, do not fol ow other gods to serve them, and you wil go onliving on the soil I gave to you and your ancestors. But you have not paid attention or listened to me.	15 Me afané en enviaros a todos mis siervos los profetas a deciros: Ea, tornad cada uno de vuestro mal camino, mejorad vuestras acciones y no andéis en pos de otros dioses para servirles, y os quedaréis en la tierra que os di a vosotros y a vuestros padres; mas no aplicasteis el oído ni me hicisteis caso.
16 Thus the sons of Jonadab son of Rechab have kept the command their ancestor gave them, but thispeople has not listened to me.	16 Así, los hijos de Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, han cumplido el precepto que su padre les impuso, mientras que este pueblo no me ha hecho caso.
17 And so, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Look, on Judah and the citizens of JerusalemI am going to bring al the disaster which I have decreed for them, because I spoke to them and they would notlisten, cal ed to them and they would not answer." '	17 Por tanto, así ha dicho Yahveh, el Dios Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo traigo contra Judá y contra los habitantes de Jerusalén todo el mal que pronuncié respecto a ellos, por cuanto les hablé y no me oyeron, les llamé y no me respondieron.
18 Then Jeremiah said to the Rechabite clan, 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "Becauseyou have obeyed the orders of your ancestor Jonadab and observed al his rules and done everything heordered you to do,	18 A la casa de los rekabitas dijo Jeremías: «Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: Por cuanto que habéis hecho caso del precepto de vuestro padre Yonadab y habéis guardado todos esos preceptos y obrado conforme a cuanto os mandó,
19 therefore, Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Jonadab son of Rechab wil never lack amale descendant to stand before me for ever." '	19 por lo mismo, así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: No faltará a Yonadab, hijo de Rekab, quien siga ante mi faz todos los días».
