Jeremiah 31

1 When that time comes, Yahweh declares, I shal be the God of al the families of Israel, and they wil bemy people.	1 In quel tempo, dice il Signore, io sarò il Dio di tutte quante le famiglie d'Israele, ed elle saran mio popolo.
2 Yahweh says this: They have found pardon in the desert, those who have survived the sword. Israel ismarching to his rest.	2 Queste cose dice il Signore: Trovò grazia nel deserto il popolo avanzato alla spada: giungerà alla sua requie Israele.
3 Yahweh has appeared to me from afar; I have loved you with an everlasting love and so I stil maintainmy faithful love for you.	3 Il Signore mi si fa vedere di lontano; ma io ti ho amato con amore eterno; per questo a me ti trassi per misericordia.
4 I shal build you once more, yes, you wil be rebuilt, Virgin of Israel! Once more in your best attire, andwith your tambourines, you wil go out dancing gaily.	4 E ti ristorerò di nuovo, e ti darò nuovo essere, o vergine d'Israele: tu avrai ancora l'accompagnamento de tuoi timpani, e camminerai in mezzo al coro de' suonatori.
5 Once more you wil plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria (those who plant wil themselvesenjoy the fruit).	5 Tu pianterai ancor vigne ne' monti della Samaria: pianteranno i coltivatori, e sino a tanto che sia suo tempo non faranno vendemmia;
6 Yes, a day will come when the watchmen shout on the mountains of Ephraim, 'Up! Let us go up toZion, to Yahweh our God!'	6 Imperocché giorno verrà quando le sentinelle grideranno sul monte d'Efraim: Sorgete, e andiamo in Sionne al Signore Dio nostro.
7 For Yahweh says this: Shout with joy for Jacob! Hail the chief of nations! Proclaim! Praise! Shout,'Yahweh has saved his people, the remnant of Israel!'	7 Perocché queste cose dice il Signore: Esultate, e fate festa per amor di Giacobbe, e alzate le voci al cospetto delle nazioni: fate sentire i vostri cantici, e dite: Salva Signore il popol tuo, le reliquie d'Israele.
8 Watch, I shall bring them back from the land of the north and gather them in from the far ends of theearth. With them, the blind and the lame, women with child, women in labour, al together: a mighty throng willreturn here!	8 Ecco, che io li condurrò dalla terra di settentrione, e dagli ultimi confini della terra li riunirò: saranno insieme il cieco, e lo zoppo, la donna gravida, e quella, che ha partorito; sarà grande la turba di quegli, che qua torneranno.
9 In tears they wil return, in prayer I shal lead them. I shal guide them to streams of water, by a smoothpath where they wil not stumble. For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born son.	9 Verranno piangendo, ed io li ricondurrò con misericordia, e li guiderò per mezzo alle acque de' torrenti, per la strada diritta, e non vi troveranno inciampo; perchè io sono il padre d'Israele, ed Efraim è mio primogenito.
10 Listen, nations, to the word of Yahweh. On the farthest coasts and islands proclaim it, say, 'He whoscattered Israel is gathering him, wil guard him as a shepherd guarding his flock.'	10 Udite, o genti, la Parola del Signore, e portate l'annunzio alle rimote isole, e dite: Colui, che ha disperso Israele lo riunirà, e lo custodirà comem un pastore il suo gregge;
11 For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, rescued him from a hand stronger than his own.	11 Imperocché il Signore ha redento Giacobbe, e lo ha liberato dalla mano del più possente.
12 They wil come, shouting for joy on the heights of Zion, thronging towards Yahweh's lavish gifts, forwheat, new wine and oil, sheep and cattle; they will be like a wel -watered garden, they wil sorrow no more.	12 E verranno, e canteranno laude sul monte di Sion; e correranno in folla a godere i beni del Signore, il grano, e il vino, e l'olio, e i parti delle pecore, e degli armenti: e l'anima loro sarà come un orto inaffiato dalle acque, e non patiranno più fame.
13 The young girl will then take pleasure in the dance, and young men and old alike; I shal change theirmourning into gladness, comfort them, give them joy after their troubles;	13 Si allegreranno allora i cori delle vergini, e i giovani, e i vecchi insieme: e il loro lutto cangerò in gaudio, e li consolerò, e farò argomento di lor letizia il (passato) dolore.
14 I shal refresh my priests with rich food, and my people wil gorge themselves on my lavish gifts,Yahweh declares.	14 E L'anima de' sacerdoti sazierò di pinguissime carni; e il popol mio de' miei beni sarà ripieno, dice il Signore.
15 Yahweh says this: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamenting and weeping bitterly: it is Rachel weeping forher children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.	15 Queste cose dice il Signore: Si è sentita nell'alto voce di querela, di lutto, e di gemito di Rachele, che piange i suoi figli, e riguardo ad essi non ammette consolazione, perch'ei più non sono.
16 Yahweh says this: Stop your lamenting dry your eyes, for your labour wil have a reward, Yahwehdeclares, and they will return from the enemy's country.	16 Queste cose dice il Signore: La tua bocca cessi dalle querele, e i tuoi occhi dal piangere: perocché la tua pena avrà mercede, dice il Signore; ed ei torneranno dalla terra nemica.
17 There is hope for your future after al , Yahweh declares, your children wil return to their homeland.	17 E una speranza in fine è per te, dice il Signore; e torneranno i tuoi figli alla loro terra.
18 I have indeed heard Ephraim's grieving, 'You flogged me, I took a flogging, like a young, untrainedbull. Bring me back, let me come back, for you are Yahweh my God!	18 Ho ascoltato attentamente Efraim nella sua cattività: Tu mi hai gastigato, e, qual giovenco non domo ancora, io fui corretto: convertimi, ed io mi convertirò: perocché tu Signore se' il mio Dio.
19 For, since I turned away, I have repented; having understood, I beat my breast. I was deeplyashamed, I blushed, aware of the disgrace incurred when I was young.'	19 Imperocché dopo che tu mi hai convertito, io ho fatta penitenza; e dopo che tu m'illuminasti, io percossi il mio fianco. Son confuso, ed arrossito portando l'obbrobrio di mia adolescenza.
20 Is Ephraim, then, so dear a son to me, a child so favoured, that whenever I mention him I rememberhim lovingly still? That is why I yearn for him, why I must take pity on him, Yahweh declares.	20 Non è egli per me Efraim il figliuolo onorato, il fanciullo, che è mia delizia? Mentre da che io a lui ho parlato, lo ho sempre in memoria. Per questo si son commosse per lui le mie viscere: io avrò viscere di misericordia per lui, dice il Signore.
21 Set up your signposts, raise yourself landmarks, fix your mind on the road, the way by which youwent. Come home, Virgin of Israel, come home to these towns of yours.	21 Fatti una vedetta: datti in preda alla amarezza: rivolgi il cuor tuo alla via diritta, per cui camminasti; torna, o vergine d'Israele, torna alle tue città.
22 How long wil you hesitate, rebellious daughter? For Yahweh is creating something new on earth: theWoman sets out to find her Husband again.	22 E fino a quando ti snerverai tralle dissolutezze, vagabonda figliuola? imperocché nuova cosa ha creato il Signore sopra la terra: Una Donna chiuderà in se un uomo.
23 Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, 'In the country of Judah and in its towns, they will usethese words once more, when I bring their captives home: "Yahweh bless you, home of saving justice, holymountain!"	23 Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Questa Parola dirassi ancora nella terra di Giuda, e pelle città sue, quand'io avrò fatti ritornare i suoi fuorusciti: ti benedica il Signore, o splendor di giustizia, o monte santo:
24 'And in this country, Judah and al its towns, the ploughmen and those who wander with their flocks,wil live together,	24 Ed ivi abiterà Giuda, e tutte le sue città insieme: que', che coltivan la terra, e quei, che guidan la greggia;
25 for I shal give the weary al they need and satisfy al those whose strength has gone.'	25 Imperocché io ho inebriata l'anima sitibonda, e ho satollata ogni anima affamata.
26 At this, I awoke and saw that my sleep had been sweet to me.	26 Per questo mi son quasi svegliato dal sonno: e gli occhi ho aperti, e dolce è stato per me il mio sonno.
27 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shall sow the House of Israel and the House ofJudah with the seed both of people and of cattle.	27 Ecco, che viene il tempo, dice il Signore, ed lo darò semenza alla casa d'Israele, e alla casa di Giuda, semenza di uomini, e semenza di giumenti.
28 And as I once watched over them to uproot, to knock down, to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster,so now I shall watch over them to build and to plant, Yahweh declares.	28 E nella stessa guisa, che io non perdei tempo ad estirparli, ad abbatterli, a dissiparli, a dispergerli, e ad affliggerli; cosi non perderò tempo a ristorargli, e piantargli, dice il Signore.
29 'In those days people will no longer say: "The fathers have eaten unripe grapes; the children's teethare set on edge."	29 In que' giorni non più si dirà: I padri mangiarono l'uva acerba, e si sono allegati i denti a' figliuoli.
30 But each will die for his own guilt. Everyone who eats unripe grapes will have his own teeth set onedge.	30 Ma chi perirà, nella propria iniquità perirà: e chiunque mangerà l'uva acerba, a lui i denti s'allegheranno.
31 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shall make a new covenant with the House ofIsrael (and the House of Judah),	31 Ecco, che vengono i giorni, dice il Signore, ed io farò colla casa d'Israele,e colla casa di Giuda una nuova alleanza:
32 but not like the covenant I made with their ancestors the day I took them by the hand to bring them outof Egypt, a covenant which they broke, even though I was their Master, Yahweh declares.	32 Alleanza non come quella, che io contrassi co' padri loro, allora quando li presi per mano, affin di trargli dalla terra d'Egitto: alleanza, cui eglino violarono; ed io esercitai il mio potere sopra di essi, dice il Signore.
33 No, this is the covenant I shal make with the House of Israel when those days have come, Yahwehdeclares. Within them I shal plant my Law, writing it on their hearts. Then I shal be their God and they wil be mypeople.	33 Ma questa sarà l'alleanza, che io farò colla casa d'Israele dopo quel tempo, dice il Signore: Imprimerò la mia legge nelle loro viscere, e scriverolla ne' loro cuori: e sarò loro Dio, ed ei saranno mio popolo.
34 There wil be no further need for everyone to teach neighbour or brother, saying, "Learn to knowYahweh!" No, they wil al know me, from the least to the greatest, Yahweh declares, since I shal forgive theirguilt and never more cal their sin to mind.'	34 E l'uomo non farà più da maestro al suo vicino, né il fratello al fratello, dicendo: Conosci il Signore: perocché dal più piccolo fino al più grande, tutti mi conosceranno, dice il Signore: imperocché io perdonerò la loro iniquità, e non avrò più memoria del lor peccato.
35 Yahweh who provides the sun to shine by day, who regulates moon and stars to shine by night, whostirs the sea, making its waves roar, he whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth, says this,	35 Queste cose dice il Signore, che manda il sole a dar luce al giorno, e dà il corso fisso alla luna, ed alle stelle a rischiarare la notte; che mette il mare in tumulto, e i flutti di lui romoreggiano: il nome suo egli è Signor degli eserciti,
36 'Were this established order ever to pass away before me, Yahweh declares, then the race of Israelwould also cease being a nation for ever before me!'	36 Se quest'ordine verrà meno dinanzi a me: allora eziandio verrà meno il seme d'Israele, onde egli non sia un popolo perenne dinanzi a me.
37 Yahweh says this, 'Were the heavens above ever to be measured, the foundations of the earth belowever to be fathomed, then I too would reject the whole race of Israel for al that they have done, Yahwehdeclares.'	37 Queste cose dice il Signore: Se alcun mai potrà misurare colassù i cieli, o penetrar colaggiù ne' fondamenti della terra, potrò io pur rigettare tutto il seme d'Israele a motivo di tutte le cose, che egli ha fatte, dice il Signore.
38 'Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when the City wil be rebuilt for Yahweh, from theTower of Hananel to the Corner Gate.	38 Ecco, che il tempo viene, dice il Signore, quando sarà dal Signore edificata la città dalla torre di Hananeel fino alla porta angolare.
39 Then once again the measuring line wil stretch straight to the Hil of Gareb, turning then to Goah.	39 E l'archipenzolo sarà portato più innanzi dirimpetto ad essa (porta) sul colle di Gareb; e girerà intorno a Goatha,
40 And the whole valley, with its corpses and ashes, and al the ground beside the ravine of the Kidronas far as the corner of the Horse Gate, eastwards, will be consecrated to Yahweh. It will never be destroyed ordemolished again.	40 E intorno a tutta la valle de' cadaveri, e della cenere, e a tutta la regione di morte fino al torrente Cedron, e fino all'angolo della porta de' cavalli, che sta ad oriente. Il luogo santo del Signore non sarà abbattuto, né mai distrutto in perpetuo.
