Jeremiah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and becomes someone else's, has he the right to go backto her? Has not that piece of land been total y pol uted? And you, having played the whore with many lovers, youclaim the right to come back to me! Yahweh demands.	1 "Se uno rimanda la sua donna ed essa si allontana da lui e diviene donna di un altro, tornerà egli forse ancora da lei? Non sarà forse del tutto profanata quella terra? Ora tu hai fornicato con molti amici e vuoi ritornare a me? Oracolo del Signore.
2 'Lift your eyes to the bare heights and look! Where have you not offered your sex! You waited by theroadside for them like an Arab in the desert. You have polluted the country with your prostitution and your vices:	2 Alza i tuoi occhi verso le alture e considera: dove non ti sei prostituita? Presso le strade ti sei seduta per essi, come un arabo nel deserto. Così hai profanato il paese con le tue prostituzioni e le tue malvagità.
3 this is why the showers have been withheld, the late rains have not come. 'But you maintained aprostitute's bold front, with no trace of a blush.	3 Per questo sono state impedite le piogge e l'acqua primaverile è mancata! Tu hai avuto una fronte da prostituta, hai rifiutato di arrossire.
4 From now on, do not cry out at me, "My father! My beloved ever since I was young!	4 Forse che, fin d'ora, non gridi verso di me: Padre mio, amico della mia giovinezza sei tu!
5 Wil he keep up his anger for ever, maintain his wrath to the end?" You say this but stil go on sinning,being so obstinate.'	5 Conserverà forse l'ira in perpetuo, la manterrà per sempre? Così tu parli, ma commetti malvagità quando puoi".
6 In the days of King Josiah, Yahweh said to me, 'Have you seen what disloyal Israel has done? How shehas made her way up every high hil and to every green tree, and played the whore there?	6 Al tempo del re Giosia, il Signore mi disse: "Hai tu veduto ciò che ha fatto la ribelle Israele? Se ne è andata su per ogni montagna alta, sotto qualsiasi albero verdeggiante, e vi si è prostituita.
7 I thought, "After doing al this she wil come back to me." But she did not come back. Her faithless sister Judah saw this.	7 E pensavo: dopo che avrà compiuto tutte queste cose ritornerà a me; ma non è tornata! E la perfida sua sorella, Giuda, ha visto.
8 She also saw that I had repudiated disloyal Israel for al her adulteries and given her her divorce papers.Her faithless sister Judah, however, was not afraid: she too went and played the whore.	8 Ho pure osservato che, sebbene io avessi scacciato la ribelle Israele a motivo di tutti i suoi adultèri e le avessi dato il libello del suo ripudio, tuttavia la perfida Giuda, sua sorella, non ha avuto timore ed è andata a prostituirsi anche lei.
9 And with her shameless whoring, she pol uted the country; she committed adultery with stones andpieces of wood.	9 Ed è avvenuto che per la sua facile prostituzione ha profanato il paese, perché si è prostituita con la pietra e con il legno.
10 Worse than all this: Judah, her faithless sister, has come back to me not in sincerity, but only inpretence, Yahweh declares.'	10 Nonostante tutto ciò, non ha poi fatto ritorno a me, la perfida sua sorella Giuda, con tutto il suo cuore, bensì con inganno". Oracolo del Signore.
11 And Yahweh said to me, 'Disloyal Israel is upright, compared with faithless Judah.	11 Poi il Signore mi disse: "La ribelle Israele è più giusta della perfida Giuda.
12 So go and shout words towards the north, and say: "Come back, disloyal Israel, Yahweh declares, Ishall frown on you no more, since I am merciful, Yahweh declares. I shal not keep my anger for ever.	12 Va' e grida queste cose verso settentrione". Io dissi: "Ritorna, ribelle Israele, oracolo del Signore, non rivolterò la mia faccia da voi, perché io sono pietoso. Oracolo del Signore: non conservo sdegno in perpetuo.
13 Only acknowledge your guilt: how you have rebelled against Yahweh your God, how you haveprostituted yourself with the Strangers under every green tree and have not listened to my voice, Yahwehdeclares.	13 Solo riconosci la tua iniquità perché contro il Signore, tuo Dio, ti sei ribellata; tu hai vagabondato con gli stranieri sotto ogni albero verdeggiante, senza aver ascoltato la mia voce. Oracolo del Signore".
14 "Come back, disloyal children, Yahweh declares, for I alone am your Master, and I wil take you, onefrom a town, two from a family, and bring you to Zion.	14 "Ritornate, o figli traviati, oracolo del Signore, poiché io sono vostro padrone e vi prenderò uno per città e due per famiglia e vi condurrò in Sion.
15 I shal give you shepherds after my own heart, who wil pasture you wisely and discreetly.	15 Io vi darò pastori secondo il cuor mio e vi pascoleranno con scienza e senno.
16 Then, when you have increased and grown numerous in the country, Yahweh declares, no one wilever again say: The ark of the covenant of Yahweh! It will not enter their minds, they wil not remember it or missit, nor wil another one be made.	16 E avverrà, in quei giorni, quando vi sarete moltiplicati e sarete fecondi nel paese, oracolo del Signore, che non si dirà più: "Arca-del-Patto-del-Signore!", perché non verrà più in mente, non se ne avrà ricordo, non si ricercherà e non si rifarà più.
17 When that time comes, Jerusalem will be cal ed: The Throne of Yahweh, and al the nations willconverge on her, on Yahweh's name, on Jerusalem, and will no longer fol ow their own stubborn and wickedinclinations.	17 In quel tempo chiameranno Gerusalemme: "Trono-del-Signore!". E si aduneranno tutte le nazioni in essa, nel nome del Signore in Gerusalemme, e non cammineranno più dietro la caparbietà del loro cuore malvagio.
18 "When those days come, the House of Judah wil join the House of Israel; together they will come fromthe land of the north to the country I gave your ancestors as their heritage."	18 In quei giorni si unirà la casa di Giuda alla casa di Israele e insieme verranno dal paese di settentrione verso il paese che ho dato in eredità ai vostri padri".
19 'And I was thinking: How am I to rank you as my children? I shal give you a country of delights, thefairest heritage of al the nations! I thought: You wil cal me Father and wil never cease to fol ow me.	19 Intanto io pensavo: come vorrei collocarti tra i figli e darti una terra deliziosa, un'eredità splendida tra gloriose nazioni! E intanto pensavo: tu mi chiameresti "Padre mio!" e non ti allontaneresti più da me!
20 But like a woman betraying her lover, House of Israel, you have betrayed me,' Yahweh declares.	20 Invece come donna perfida verso il suo amico così siete stati perfidi verso di me, o casa di Israele! Oracolo del Signore.
21 A noise is heard on the bare heights: the weeping and entreaty of the Israelites, for they have gonewildly astray, have forgotten Yahweh their God.	21 Una voce sui colli si ode: pianto, gemiti dei figli di Israele perché han pervertito la loro via, han dimenticato il Signore, loro Dio!
22 'Come back, disloyal sons, I want to cure your disloyalty.' 'We are here, we are coming to you, for youare Yahweh our God.	22 Tornate, figli traviati, io curerò i vostri traviamenti! Eccoci, noi veniamo a te perché tu sei il Signore, nostro Dio!
23 The hil s are a delusion after al , so is the tumult of the mountains. Yahweh our God is, after al , thesaving of Israel.	23 Sì, illusione sono le colline e il tumulto dei monti! Sì, nel Signore, Dio nostro, è la salvezza di Israele!
24 Shame has devoured what our ancestors worked for ever since we were young, their flocks and herds,their sons and their daughters.	24 L'onta ha divorato il provento dei padri nostri fin dalla nostra giovinezza: le loro greggi e i loro armenti, i loro figli e le loro figlie!
25 Let us lie down in our shame, let our confusion cover us, for we have sinned against Yahweh our God,we and our ancestors, from our youth until today, and have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God.'	25 Corichiamoci nella nostra vergogna, ci ricopra la nostra ignominia, perché contro il Signore, Dio nostro, abbiamo peccato noi e i nostri padri, dalla nostra giovinezza fino ad oggi, e non abbiamo ascoltato la voce del Signore, Dio nostro!
