Jeremiah 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 'If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him and becomes someone else's, has he the right to go backto her? Has not that piece of land been total y pol uted? And you, having played the whore with many lovers, youclaim the right to come back to me! Yahweh demands.	1 La palabra del Señor llegó a mí en estos términos: Si un hombre repudia a su mujer y ella, al irse de lado, llega a ser la mujer de otro, ¿puede aquel volver de nuevo a ella? ¿No está acaso esa mujer irremediablemente mancillada? Y tú, que te has prostituido con tantos amantes, ¿podrás volver a mí? –oráculo del Señor–.
2 'Lift your eyes to the bare heights and look! Where have you not offered your sex! You waited by theroadside for them like an Arab in the desert. You have polluted the country with your prostitution and your vices:	2 Alza tus ojos a los montes desolados y mira: ¿dónde no has sido violada? Te sentabas a la espera junto a los caminos, como el árabe en el desierto; así has contaminado el país con tus prostituciones y tu maldad.
3 this is why the showers have been withheld, the late rains have not come. 'But you maintained aprostitute's bold front, with no trace of a blush.	3 Por eso se detuvieron los aguaceros y no hubo lluvia de primavera. Pero tú tenías frente de prostituta, rehusabas avergonzarte.
4 From now on, do not cry out at me, "My father! My beloved ever since I was young!	4 Y aún ahora me gritas: «¡Padre mío! ¡Tú eres el amigo de mi juventud!
5 Wil he keep up his anger for ever, maintain his wrath to the end?" You say this but stil go on sinning,being so obstinate.'	5 ¿Acaso él guardará rencor eternamente? ¿Mantendrá su ira para siempre?». ¡Tú hablas así y haces el mal a más no poder!
6 In the days of King Josiah, Yahweh said to me, 'Have you seen what disloyal Israel has done? How shehas made her way up every high hil and to every green tree, and played the whore there?	6 El Señor me dijo en los días del rey Josías: ¿Has visto lo que hizo la apóstata Israel? Se ha ido a toda montaña elevada y bajo todo árbol frondoso, para prostituirse allí.
7 I thought, "After doing al this she wil come back to me." But she did not come back. Her faithless sister Judah saw this.	7 Yo pensaba: Después de hacer todo esto, ella volverá otra vez a mí. ¡Pero no ha vuelto! Su hermana, la traidora Judá, ha visto esto:
8 She also saw that I had repudiated disloyal Israel for al her adulteries and given her her divorce papers.Her faithless sister Judah, however, was not afraid: she too went and played the whore.	8 ella vio que, por todos los adulterios había cometido la apóstata Israel, yo la había repudiado y le había dado el acta de divorcio, Pero la traidora Judá, su hermana, no sintió ningún temor, sino que fue y también ella se prostituyó.
9 And with her shameless whoring, she pol uted the country; she committed adultery with stones andpieces of wood.	9 Así, con su frívola prostitución profanó el país, cometiendo el adulterio con la piedra y la madera.
10 Worse than all this: Judah, her faithless sister, has come back to me not in sincerity, but only inpretence, Yahweh declares.'	10 A pesar de todo esto, su hermana, la traidora Judá, no volvió a mí de todo corazón, sino sólo engañosamente –oráculo del Señor–.
11 And Yahweh said to me, 'Disloyal Israel is upright, compared with faithless Judah.	11 El Señor me dijo: La apóstata Israel se ha mostrado más justa que la traidora Judá.
12 So go and shout words towards the north, and say: "Come back, disloyal Israel, Yahweh declares, Ishall frown on you no more, since I am merciful, Yahweh declares. I shal not keep my anger for ever.	12 Ve entonces a gritar estas palabras hacia el Norte: ¡Vuelve, apóstata Israel –oráculo del Señor– y no te mostraré un rostro severo, porque yo soy misericordioso –oráculo del Señor– y no guardo rencor para siempre.
13 Only acknowledge your guilt: how you have rebelled against Yahweh your God, how you haveprostituted yourself with the Strangers under every green tree and have not listened to my voice, Yahwehdeclares.	13 Pero reconoce tu culpa, porque te has rebelado contra el Señor, tu Dios, y has prodigado tus favores a los extranjeros, bajo todo árbol frondoso: ¡ustedes no han escuchado mi voz! –oráculo del Señor–.
14 "Come back, disloyal children, Yahweh declares, for I alone am your Master, and I wil take you, onefrom a town, two from a family, and bring you to Zion.	14 ¡Vuelvan, hijos apóstatas –oráculo del Señor– porque yo soy el dueño de ustedes! Yo los tomaré, a uno de una ciudad y a dos de una familia, y los conduciré a Sión.
15 I shal give you shepherds after my own heart, who wil pasture you wisely and discreetly.	15 Después les daré pastores según mi corazón, que los apacentarán con ciencia y prudencia.
16 Then, when you have increased and grown numerous in the country, Yahweh declares, no one wilever again say: The ark of the covenant of Yahweh! It will not enter their minds, they wil not remember it or missit, nor wil another one be made.	16 Y cuando ustedes se hayan multiplicado y fructificado en el país, en aquellos días –oráculo del Señor– ya no se hablará más del Arca de la Alianza del Señor, ni se pensará más en ella; no se la recordará, ni se la echará de menos, ni se la volverá a fabricar.
17 When that time comes, Jerusalem will be cal ed: The Throne of Yahweh, and al the nations willconverge on her, on Yahweh's name, on Jerusalem, and will no longer fol ow their own stubborn and wickedinclinations.	17 En aquel tiempo, se llamará a Jerusalén «Trono del Señor»; todas las naciones se reunirán en ella, y ya no seguirán más los impulsos de su corazón obstinado y perverso.
18 "When those days come, the House of Judah wil join the House of Israel; together they will come fromthe land of the north to the country I gave your ancestors as their heritage."	18 En aquellos días, la casa de Judá irá hacia la casa de Israel, y ellas vendrán juntas del país del Norte a la tierra que yo di a sus padres en herencia.
19 'And I was thinking: How am I to rank you as my children? I shal give you a country of delights, thefairest heritage of al the nations! I thought: You wil cal me Father and wil never cease to fol ow me.	19 Yo me había dicho: ¡Cómo quisiera contarte entre mis hijos y darte una tierra deliciosa, la herencia más hermosa de las naciones! Yo me había dicho: Tú me llamarás «Mi padre», y nunca dejarás de ir detrás de mí.
20 But like a woman betraying her lover, House of Israel, you have betrayed me,' Yahweh declares.	20 Pero como una mujer traiciona a su marido, así me han traicionado ustedes, casa de Israel –oráculo del Señor–.
21 A noise is heard on the bare heights: the weeping and entreaty of the Israelites, for they have gonewildly astray, have forgotten Yahweh their God.	21 En los montes desolados se escucha una voz: son llantos y súplicas de los hijos de Israel, porque han tomado por un camino torcido, se han olvidado del Señor, su Dios.
22 'Come back, disloyal sons, I want to cure your disloyalty.' 'We are here, we are coming to you, for youare Yahweh our God.	22 –¡Vuelvan, hijos apóstatas, yo los sanaré de sus apostasías! –Aquí estamos, venimos hacia ti, porque tú eres el Señor, nuestro Dios.
23 The hil s are a delusion after al , so is the tumult of the mountains. Yahweh our God is, after al , thesaving of Israel.	23 ¡Sí, son una mentira las colinas y el tumulto de las montañas! ¡Sí, en el Señor, nuestro Dios, está la salvación de Israel!
24 Shame has devoured what our ancestors worked for ever since we were young, their flocks and herds,their sons and their daughters.	24 La Ignominia ha devorado las ganancias de nuestros padres desde nuestra juventud: sus ovejas y sus vacas, sus hijos y sus hijas.
25 Let us lie down in our shame, let our confusion cover us, for we have sinned against Yahweh our God,we and our ancestors, from our youth until today, and have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God.'	25 Acostémonos en nuestra ignominia y que nos cubra nuestra vergüenza, porque hemos pecado contra el Señor, nuestro Dios, nosotros y nuestros padres, desde nuestra juventud hasta el día de hoy, y no hemos escuchado la voz del Señor, nuestro Dios.
