Isaiah 7

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 In the reign of Ahaz son of Jotham, son of Uzziah king of Judah, Razon king of Aram advanced onJerusalem with Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, to attack it; but he was unable to attack it.	1 Au temps d'Achaz, fils de Yotam, fils d'Ozias, roi de Juda, Raçôn, roi d'Aram, monta avec Péqah, filsde Remalyahu, roi d'Israël, vers Jérusalem pour porter l'attaque contre elle, mais il ne put l'attaquer.
2 The House of David was informed: 'Aram has halted in Ephraimite territory.' At this, his heart and hispeople's hearts shook like forest trees shaking in the wind.	2 On annonça à la maison de David: "Aram a fait halte sur le territoire d'Ephraïm." Alors son coeur et lecoeur de son peuple se mirent à chanceler comme chancellent les arbres de la forêt sous le vent.
3 Yahweh then said to Isaiah, 'Go out with your son Shear-Jashub, and meet Ahaz at the end of theconduit of the upper pool, on the road to the Ful er's Field,	3 Et Yahvé dit à Isaïe: Sors au-devant d'Achaz, toi et Shéar-Yashub ton fils, vers l'extrémité du canal dela piscine supérieure, vers le chemin du champ du Foulon.
4 and say to him, "Pay attention and keep calm. Do not be frightened or demoralised by these twosmouldering sticks of firewood, by the fierce anger of Razon, Aram and the son of Remaliah,	4 Tu lui diras: Prends garde et calme-toi. Ne crains pas et que ton coeur ne défaille pas devant ces deuxbouts de tisons fumants, à cause de l'ardente colère de Raçôn, d'Aram et du fils de Remalyahu,
5 or because Aram, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah have been plotting against you and saying:	5 parce qu'Aram, Ephraïm et le fils de Remalyahu ont tramé contre toi un mauvais coup en disant:
6 Let us mount an attack on Judah, destroy it, force it onto our side and instal the son of Tabeel there asking.	6 "Montons contre Juda, détruisons-le, brisons-le pour le ramener vers nous, et nous y établirons commeroi le fils de Tabeel."
7 "Lord Yahweh says this: This wil not happen, it wil never occur,	7 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé: Cela ne tiendra pas, cela ne sera pas;
8 for the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Razon; another sixty-five years, andEphraim wil cease to be a people.	8 car la tête d'Aram c'est Damas, et la tête de Damas c'est Raçôn; encore 65 ans, et Ephraïm cesserad'être un peuple.
9 The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you wil not takeyour stand on me you wil not stand firm." '	9 La tête d'Ephraïm c'est Samarie, et la tête de Samarie c'est le fils de Remalyahu. Si vous ne croyez pas,vous ne vous maintiendrez pas.
10 Yahweh spoke to Ahaz again and said:	10 Yahvé parla encore à Achaz en disant:
11 Ask Yahweh your God for a sign, either in the depths of Sheol or in the heights above.	11 Demande un signe à Yahvé ton Dieu, au fond, dans le shéol, ou vers les hauteurs, au-dessus.
12 But Ahaz said, 'I wil not ask. I wil not put Yahweh to the test.'	12 Et Achaz dit: Je ne demanderai rien, je ne tenterai pas Yahvé.
13 He then said: Listen now, House of David: are you not satisfied with trying human patience that youshould try my God's patience too?	13 Il dit alors: Ecoutez donc, maison de David! est-ce trop peu pour vous de lasser les hommes, que vouslassiez aussi mon Dieu?
14 The Lord wil give you a sign in any case: It is this: the young woman is with child and wil give birth to ason whom she wil cal Immanuel.	14 C'est pourquoi le Seigneur lui-même vous donnera un signe: Voici, la jeune femme est enceinte, elleva enfanter un fils et elle lui donnera le nom d'Emmanuel.
15 On curds and honey wil he feed until he knows how to refuse the bad and choose the good.	15 Il mangera du lait caillé et du miel jusqu'à ce qu'il sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien.
16 Before the child knows how to refuse the bad and choose the good, the lands whose two kings arefrightening you will be deserted.	16 Car avant que l'enfant sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien, elle sera abandonnée, la terre dont lesdeux rois te jettent dans l'épouvante.
17 Yahweh wil bring times for you, your people and your ancestral House, such as have not been seensince Ephraim broke away from Judah (the king of Assyria).	17 Yahvé fera venir sur toi, sur ton peuple et sur la maison de ton père des jours tels qu'il n'en est pasvenu depuis la séparation d'Ephraïm et de Juda (le roi d'Assur).
18 When that day comes, Yahweh wil whistle up mosquitoes from the distant streams of Egypt and beesfrom the land of Assyria,	18 Il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que Yahvé sifflera les mouches qui sont à l'extrémité des fleuves d'Egypte etles abeilles qui sont au pays d'Assur.
19 and they wil al come and settle on the streams in the gul ies, in the holes in the rocks, on al the thorn-bushes and on all the water-points.	19 Elles viendront et se poseront toutes dans les torrents des ravins et dans les fentes des rochers, surtous les buissons et à tous les points d'eau.
20 That day the Lord wil shave, with a razor hired from the other side of the River (with the king ofAssyria), the head and the hair of the leg, and take off the beard, too.	20 En ce jour-là, le Seigneur rasera avec un rasoir loué au-delà du fleuve, (avec le roi d'Assur) la tête etle poil des jambes, et même la barbe, il l'enlèvera.
21 When that day comes, each man wil raise one heifer and two sheep,	21 Il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que chacun élèvera une génisse et deux têtes de petit bétail.
22 and because of the abundant milk they give (on curds will he feed) al who are left in the country wilfeed on curds and honey.	22 Et il arrivera qu'en raison de l'abondante production du lait, (il mangera du lait caillé) tout survivantau milieu du pays mangera du lait caillé et du miel.
23 When that day comes, wherever there used to be a thousand vines worth a thousand pieces of silver,al wil be brambles and thorn-bushes;	23 Il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que tout lieu où il y a mille pieds de vigne valant mille pièces d'argentdeviendra ronces et épines.
24 to be ventured into only with arrows and bow, for the country wil be nothing but brambles and thorn-bushes.	24 Avec flèches et arc on y pénétrera, car tout le pays sera ronces et épines.
25 No more wil you venture on any hil side formerly under the hoe for fear of the brambles and thorn-bushes; it will be fit only for pasturing the cattle, a tramping-ground for sheep.	25 Sur toutes les montagnes qui sont cultivées à la houe, tu n'iras plus par crainte des ronces et desépines, et ce sera pacage de boeufs et terre piétinée par les moutons.
