Isaiah 7

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 In the reign of Ahaz son of Jotham, son of Uzziah king of Judah, Razon king of Aram advanced onJerusalem with Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, to attack it; but he was unable to attack it.	1 En tiempos de Ajaz, hijo de Jotam, hijo de Ozías, rey de Judá, Resín, rey de Aram, y Pécaj, hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, subieron contra Jerusalén para atacarla, pero no la pudieron expugnar.
2 The House of David was informed: 'Aram has halted in Ephraimite territory.' At this, his heart and hispeople's hearts shook like forest trees shaking in the wind.	2 Cuando se informó a la casa de David: «Aram está acampado en Efraím», se estremeció su corazón y el corazón de su pueblo, como se estremecen por el viento los árboles del bosque.
3 Yahweh then said to Isaiah, 'Go out with your son Shear-Jashub, and meet Ahaz at the end of theconduit of the upper pool, on the road to the Ful er's Field,	3 El Señor dijo a Isaías: «Ve al encuentro de Ajaz, tú y tu hijo Sear Iasub, al extremo del canal del estanque superior, sobre la senda del campo del Tintorero.
4 and say to him, "Pay attention and keep calm. Do not be frightened or demoralised by these twosmouldering sticks of firewood, by the fierce anger of Razon, Aram and the son of Remaliah,	4 Tú le dirás: Manténte alerta y no pierdas la calma; no temas, y que tu corazón no se intimide ante esos dos cabos de tizones humeantes, ante el furor de Resín de Aram y del hijo de Remalías.
5 or because Aram, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah have been plotting against you and saying:	5 Porque Aram, Efraím y el hijo de Remalías se han confabulado contra ti, diciendo:
6 Let us mount an attack on Judah, destroy it, force it onto our side and instal the son of Tabeel there asking.	6 «Subamos contra Judá, hagamos cundir el pánico, sometámosla y pongamos allí como rey al hijo de Tabel».
7 "Lord Yahweh says this: This wil not happen, it wil never occur,	7 Pero así habla el Señor: Eso no se realizará, eso no sucederá
8 for the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Razon; another sixty-five years, andEphraim wil cease to be a people.
9 The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you wil not takeyour stand on me you wil not stand firm." '
10 Yahweh spoke to Ahaz again and said:	10 Una vez más, el Señor habló a Ajaz en estos términos:
11 Ask Yahweh your God for a sign, either in the depths of Sheol or in the heights above.	11 «Pide para ti un signo de parte del Señor, en lo profundo del Abismo, o arriba, en las alturas».
12 But Ahaz said, 'I wil not ask. I wil not put Yahweh to the test.'	12 Pero Ajaz respondió: «No lo pediré ni tentaré al Señor».
13 He then said: Listen now, House of David: are you not satisfied with trying human patience that youshould try my God's patience too?	13 Isaías dijo: «Escuchen, entonces, casa de David: ¿Acaso no les basta cansar a los hombres, que cansan también a mi Dios?
14 The Lord wil give you a sign in any case: It is this: the young woman is with child and wil give birth to ason whom she wil cal Immanuel.	14 Por eso el Señor mismo les dará un signo. Miren, la joven está embarazada y dará a luz un hijo, y lo llamará con el nombre de Emanuel.
15 On curds and honey wil he feed until he knows how to refuse the bad and choose the good.	15 El se alimentará de leche cuajada y miel, cuando ya sepa desechar lo malo y elegir lo bueno.
16 Before the child knows how to refuse the bad and choose the good, the lands whose two kings arefrightening you will be deserted.	16 Porque antes de que el niño sepa desechar lo malo y elegir lo bueno, quedará abandonada la tierra de esos dos reyes, ante los cuales estás aterrorizado.
17 Yahweh wil bring times for you, your people and your ancestral House, such as have not been seensince Ephraim broke away from Judah (the king of Assyria).	17 El Señor hará venir sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre la casa de tu padre, días como no lo hubo iguales desde que Efraím se separó de Judá».
18 When that day comes, Yahweh wil whistle up mosquitoes from the distant streams of Egypt and beesfrom the land of Assyria,	18 Aquel día, el Señor llamará con un silbido al tábano que está en el extremo de los canales de Egipto, y a la abeja que está en el país de Asiria.
19 and they wil al come and settle on the streams in the gul ies, in the holes in the rocks, on al the thorn-bushes and on all the water-points.	19 Ellos vendrán a posarse en los barrancos escarpados en las grietas de las rocas, sobre todos los matorrales y sobre todos los abrevaderos.
20 That day the Lord wil shave, with a razor hired from the other side of the River (with the king ofAssyria), the head and the hair of the leg, and take off the beard, too.	20 Aquel día, el Señor rapará con una navaja alquilada al otro lado del Río –con el rey de Asiria–, la cabeza y el vello del cuerpo; y la navaja afeitará también la barba.
21 When that day comes, each man wil raise one heifer and two sheep,	21 Aquel día, cada uno criará una ternera y dos ovejas;
22 and because of the abundant milk they give (on curds will he feed) al who are left in the country wilfeed on curds and honey.	22 y como darán leche en abundancia, se comerá leche cuajada, porque todo el que quede en medio del país se alimentará con leche cuajada y miel.
23 When that day comes, wherever there used to be a thousand vines worth a thousand pieces of silver,al wil be brambles and thorn-bushes;	23 Aquel día, todo lugar donde había mil plantas de vid, a un valor de mil siclos de plata, se cubrirá de cardos y espinas.
24 to be ventured into only with arrows and bow, for the country wil be nothing but brambles and thorn-bushes.	24 Allí habrá que entrar con flechas y arco, porque todo el país será cardos y espinas.
25 No more wil you venture on any hil side formerly under the hoe for fear of the brambles and thorn-bushes; it will be fit only for pasturing the cattle, a tramping-ground for sheep.	25 Y por temor a los cardos y espinas, tú ya no irás a todas esas montañas que se escardaban con la azada: serán un lugar donde se sueltan los bueyes y que es pisoteado por las ovejas.
