Isaiah 57

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The upright person perishes and no one cares. The faithful is taken off and no one takes it to heart.Yes, because of the evil times the upright is taken off;	1 Il giusto perisce e nessuno se la prende a cuore. I pii sono tolti di mezzo senza che alcuno lo noti; sì, il giusto è tolto di mezzo a causa del male.
2 he wil enter peace, and those who fol ow the right way wil find rest on their beds.	2 Entrerà nella pace. Riposano sui loro giacigli, quelli che incedono per la retta via.
3 But you, you children of a witch, come here, adulterous race prostituting yourselves!	3 Accostatevi voi, figli della maga, stirpe dell'adultero e della prostituta!
4 At whom are you jeering, at whom are you making faces and sticking out your tongue? Are you not thespawn of rebel ion, a lying race?	4 Di chi vi burlate voi, contro chi allargate la bocca e allungate la lingua? Non siete voi forse figli ribelli, stirpe menzognera?
5 Lusting among the terebinths, and under every spreading tree, sacrificing children in the ravines, belowthe clefts in the rocks.	5 Voi, che vi eccitate fra i terebinti, sotto ogni albero verdeggiante, immolando bambini nelle valli, nelle fessure delle rocce!
6 The smooth stones of the ravines wil be your portion, yes, these wil be your lot. To these you havepoured libations, have brought your cereal offering. Can al this appease me?	6 Tu hai la tua parte tra le pietre del torrente; sono esse la tua eredità; anche per esse tu hai versato libagioni, hai presentato offerte; forse dovrei consolarmi di questo?
7 On a mountain high and lofty you have put your bed. Thither, too, you have climbed to offer sacrifice.	7 Sopra un'alta ed elevata montagna hai collocato il tuo giaciglio; anche là sei salito per offrire sacrifici.
8 Behind door and doorpost you have set your reminder. Yes, far from me, you exposed yourself,climbed on to your bed, and made the most of it. You struck a profitable bargain with those whose bed you love,whoring with them often, with your eyes on the sacred symbol.	8 Dietro la porta e gli stipiti hai posto il tuo memoriale. Sì, lontano da me hai scoperto il tuo giaciglio, vi sei salita, l'hai allargato; hai patteggiato con quelli con cui amavi giacere, guardando il loro simulacro.
9 You went to Molech with oil, you were prodigal with your perfumes; you sent your envoys far afield,down to Sheol itself.	9 Con olio sei corsa verso Moloch, hai moltiplicato i tuoi profumi, hai inviato lontano i tuoi messaggeri, li hai fatti discendere fino agli inferi.
10 Though tired by so much travel ing, you never said, 'It is no use.' Finding your strength revive, younever gave up.	10 Ti sei affaticata per la quantità dei viaggi, ma senza dire: "E' una disperazione". Hai ritrovato il vigore della tua mano, per cui non ti senti debole.
11 Who was it you dreaded, and feared, that you should betray me, no longer remember me and notspare a thought for me? Was I not silent for a long time? So you cannot have been afraid of me.	11 Di chi avevi timore? Di chi avevi paura per dire menzogne? Di me non ti sei ricordata, non te ne sei presa cura? Non sono io forse rimasto silenzioso e non ho chiuso gli occhi, mentre tu non hai avuto timore di me?
12 Now I shall expose this uprightness of yours, and little good it did you.	12 Io proclamerò la tua giustizia e le tue opere, che non ti portano alcun giovamento.
13 When you cry for help, let those thronging round you save you! The wind wil carry them al away, onepuff wil take them off. But whoever trusts in me wil inherit the country, he wil own my holy mountain.	13 Alle tue grida ti salvino gl'idoli che hai radunato! Il vento li porterà via tutti, il soffio se li prenderà. Ma chi si rifugia in me, possederà la terra, e avrà in eredità il mio santo monte.
14 Then it wil be said: Level up, level up, clear the way, remove the obstacle from my people's way,	14 E si dirà: "Spianate, spianate, preparate la via, levate ogni ostacolo dalla via del mio popolo!".
15 for thus says the High and Exalted One who lives eternal y and whose name is holy, 'I live in the holyheights but I am with the contrite and humble, to revive the spirit of the humble, to revive the heart of the contrite.	15 Perché così parla l'Alto e l'Eccelso, colui che risiede eternamente, il cui nome è Santo: "Risiedo in un luogo elevato e santo, ma sono anche con il contrito e l'umile, per rianimare lo spirito degli umili e risollevare i cuori contriti.
16 'For I do not want to be forever accusing nor always to be angry, or the spirit would fail under myonslaught, the souls that I myself have made.	16 Poiché io non faccio lite in eterno, non mi irrito per sempre, se no verrebbe meno al mio cospetto lo spirito e le anime che ho creato.
17 'Angered by his wicked cupidity, I hid and struck him in anger, but he rebelliously went the way of hischoice.	17 Per il suo iniquo guadagno mi sono irritato, nascondendomi, l'ho percosso nella mia irritazione; ma egli, ribelle, camminò per le vie del suo cuore.
18 'I saw how he behaved, but I shal heal him, I shal lead him, fil him with consolation, him and thosewho mourn for him,	18 Ho visto le sue vie, ma io lo guarirò, lo guiderò, gli concederò il conforto.
19 bringing praise to their lips. Peace, peace to far and near, Yahweh says, and I shall heal him.'	19 A quanti dei suoi sono afflitti pongo sulle labbra la lode; pace, pace a chi è lontano e a chi è vicino, dice il Signore. Io lo guarirò".
20 The wicked, however, are like the restless sea that cannot be stil , whose waters throw up mud anddirt.	20 Ma gli empi sono come un mare agitato, che non può calmarsi, le cui acque rigettano melma e fango.
21 'No peace', says Yahweh, 'for the wicked.'	21 Non vi è pace per gli empi, dice il mio Dio!
