Isaiah 57

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 The upright person perishes and no one cares. The faithful is taken off and no one takes it to heart.Yes, because of the evil times the upright is taken off;	1 Le juste périt et personne ne s'en inquiète, les hommes pieux sont moissonnés et nul n'y prend garde;oui, à cause de la perversité le juste a été moissonné;
2 he wil enter peace, and those who fol ow the right way wil find rest on their beds.	2 il entrera dans la paix, et ceux qui suivent le droit chemin trouveront le repos sur leur couche.
3 But you, you children of a witch, come here, adulterous race prostituting yourselves!	3 Quant à vous, approchez ici, fils de la magicienne, race adultère qui t'es prostituée.
4 At whom are you jeering, at whom are you making faces and sticking out your tongue? Are you not thespawn of rebel ion, a lying race?	4 De qui vous moquez-vous? A qui faites-vous des grimaces et tirez-vous la langue? N'êtes-vous pasune engeance de révolte, une race de mensonge?
5 Lusting among the terebinths, and under every spreading tree, sacrificing children in the ravines, belowthe clefts in the rocks.	5 Vous qui vous excitez près des térébinthes, sous tout arbre verdoyant, qui immolez des enfants dansles torrents, sous les fissures des rochers.
6 The smooth stones of the ravines wil be your portion, yes, these wil be your lot. To these you havepoured libations, have brought your cereal offering. Can al this appease me?	6 Les pierres polies du torrent, voilà ton partage, ce sont elles, elles qui sont ton lot. C'est pour elles quetu as répandu des libations, que tu as présenté ton offrande. Puis-je y trouver l'apaisement?
7 On a mountain high and lofty you have put your bed. Thither, too, you have climbed to offer sacrifice.	7 Sur une grande et haute montagne tu as installé ta couche. C'est là aussi que tu es montée pour offrirle sacrifice.
8 Behind door and doorpost you have set your reminder. Yes, far from me, you exposed yourself,climbed on to your bed, and made the most of it. You struck a profitable bargain with those whose bed you love,whoring with them often, with your eyes on the sacred symbol.	8 Derrière la porte et le montant tu as fixé ton mémorial. Oui, loin de moi tu t'es découverte, tu esmontée sur ta couche, tu en as profité largement. Tu as pactisé à ton profit avec ceux dont tu aimes la couche,tout en contemplant le monument.
9 You went to Molech with oil, you were prodigal with your perfumes; you sent your envoys far afield,down to Sheol itself.	9 Tu t'es approchée de Mèlek avec des présents d'huile, tu as prodigué les parfums; tu as envoyé au lointes messagers, tu les as fait descendre jusqu'au shéol.
10 Though tired by so much travel ing, you never said, 'It is no use.' Finding your strength revive, younever gave up.	10 A faire tant de chemin tu t'es fatiguée, mais tu n'as pas dit: "C'est décourageant!" Tu as retrouvé lavigueur de ta main, c'est pourquoi tu n'as pas faibli.
11 Who was it you dreaded, and feared, that you should betray me, no longer remember me and notspare a thought for me? Was I not silent for a long time? So you cannot have been afraid of me.	11 Qui as-tu craint et redouté, pour mentir et ne plus te souvenir de moi, pour ne plus te soucier de moi?N'étais-je pas silencieux et depuis longtemps? Aussi tu ne me craignais pas.
12 Now I shall expose this uprightness of yours, and little good it did you.	12 Mais je vais annoncer ta justice et tes oeuvres, dont tu ne tirais aucun profit.
13 When you cry for help, let those thronging round you save you! The wind wil carry them al away, onepuff wil take them off. But whoever trusts in me wil inherit the country, he wil own my holy mountain.	13 Tu vas crier, qu'ils te délivrent, ceux qui se serrent autour de toi! Eux tous, le vent va les enlever, unsouffle les emporter, mais quiconque se confie en moi héritera du pays, il possédera ma montagne sainte.
14 Then it wil be said: Level up, level up, clear the way, remove the obstacle from my people's way,	14 Et l'on dira: Nivelez, nivelez, frayez un chemin, ôtez l'obstacle du chemin de mon peuple,
15 for thus says the High and Exalted One who lives eternal y and whose name is holy, 'I live in the holyheights but I am with the contrite and humble, to revive the spirit of the humble, to revive the heart of the contrite.	15 car ainsi parle celui qui est haut et élevé, dont la demeure est éternelle et dont le nom est saint. "Jesuis haut et saint dans ma demeure, mais je suis avec l'homme contrit et humilié, pour ranimer les espritshumiliés, pour ranimer les coeurs contrits.
16 'For I do not want to be forever accusing nor always to be angry, or the spirit would fail under myonslaught, the souls that I myself have made.	16 Car je ne veux pas accuser sans cesse ni toujours me montrer irrité, car devant moi faiblirait l'espritet ces âmes que j'ai créées.
17 'Angered by his wicked cupidity, I hid and struck him in anger, but he rebelliously went the way of hischoice.	17 Contre sa criminelle cupidité j'ai été irrité, en me cachant je l'ai frappé, dans mon irritation; et il s'enest allé, rebelle, selon sa fantaisie.
18 'I saw how he behaved, but I shal heal him, I shal lead him, fil him with consolation, him and thosewho mourn for him,	18 J'ai vu sa conduite, mais je le guérirai, je le conduirai, je lui prodiguerai le réconfort, à lui et à ceuxqui sont dans le deuil,
19 bringing praise to their lips. Peace, peace to far and near, Yahweh says, and I shall heal him.'	19 faisant naître la louange sur leurs lèvres: "Paix! paix à qui est loin et à qui est proche, dit Yahvé, et jele guérirai."
20 The wicked, however, are like the restless sea that cannot be stil , whose waters throw up mud anddirt.	20 Mais les méchants sont comme la mer agitée qui ne peut se calmer, dont les eaux soulèvent la boueet la fange.
21 'No peace', says Yahweh, 'for the wicked.'	21 "Point de paix, dit Yahvé, pour les méchants."
