Isaiah 57

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 The upright person perishes and no one cares. The faithful is taken off and no one takes it to heart.Yes, because of the evil times the upright is taken off;	1 Il giusto muore, e non vi è alcuno che vi ponga mente; e gli uomini da bene son raccolti, senza che alcuno consideri che il giusto è raccolto d’innanzi al male.
2 he wil enter peace, and those who fol ow the right way wil find rest on their beds.	2 Chi cammina nella sua dirittura se ne andrà in pace, si riposeranno sopra i lor letti
3 But you, you children of a witch, come here, adulterous race prostituting yourselves!	3 Ma voi, figliuoli dell’incantatrice, progenie adultera, che non fai altro che fornicare, accostatevi qua.
4 At whom are you jeering, at whom are you making faces and sticking out your tongue? Are you not thespawn of rebel ion, a lying race?	4 Sopra cui vi sollazzate voi? sopra cui allargate la bocca, ed allungate la lingua? non siete voi figliuoli di misfatto, progenie di falsità?
5 Lusting among the terebinths, and under every spreading tree, sacrificing children in the ravines, belowthe clefts in the rocks.	5 Voi, che vi riscaldate dietro alle querce, sott’ogni albero verdeggiante, che scannate i figliuoli nelle valli, sotto alle caverne delle rocce.
6 The smooth stones of the ravines wil be your portion, yes, these wil be your lot. To these you havepoured libations, have brought your cereal offering. Can al this appease me?	6 La tua parte è nelle pietre pulite de’ torrenti; quelle, quelle son la tua sorte; a quelle eziandio hai sparse offerte da spandere, e presentate oblazioni; con tutte queste cose potrei io esser rappacificato?
7 On a mountain high and lofty you have put your bed. Thither, too, you have climbed to offer sacrifice.	7 Tu hai posto il tuo letto sopra i monti alti ed elevati; e sei eziandio salita là, per sacrificar sacrificii.
8 Behind door and doorpost you have set your reminder. Yes, far from me, you exposed yourself,climbed on to your bed, and made the most of it. You struck a profitable bargain with those whose bed you love,whoring with them often, with your eyes on the sacred symbol.	8 Ed hai messa la tua ricordanza dietro all’uscio, e dietro allo stipite; conciossiachè tu ti sii scoperta, sviandoti da me; e sii salita, ed abbi allargato il tuo letto, ed abbi fatto patto con alcuni di coloro; tu hai amata la lor giacitura, tu hai spiato il luogo.
9 You went to Molech with oil, you were prodigal with your perfumes; you sent your envoys far afield,down to Sheol itself.	9 Ed hai portati al Re presenti d’olii odoriferi, con gran quantità delle tue composizioni aromatiche; ed hai mandati i tuoi ambasciatori fino in paese lontano, e ti sei abbassata fino all’inferno.
10 Though tired by so much travel ing, you never said, 'It is no use.' Finding your strength revive, younever gave up.	10 Tu ti sei affaticata nella lunghezza del tuo cammino; tu non hai detto: La cosa è disperata; tu hai ritrovata la vita della tua mano, perciò tu non ti sei stancata.
11 Who was it you dreaded, and feared, that you should betray me, no longer remember me and notspare a thought for me? Was I not silent for a long time? So you cannot have been afraid of me.	11 E di cui hai tu avuta paura? chi hai tu temuto? conciossiachè tu abbi mentito, e non ti sii ricordata di me, e non te ne sii curata? non mi sono io taciuto, anzi già da lungo tempo? e pur tu non mi hai temuto.
12 Now I shall expose this uprightness of yours, and little good it did you.	12 Io dichiarerò la tua giustizia, e le tue opere, che non ti gioveranno nulla
13 When you cry for help, let those thronging round you save you! The wind wil carry them al away, onepuff wil take them off. But whoever trusts in me wil inherit the country, he wil own my holy mountain.	13 Quando tu griderai, liberinti quelli che tu aduni; ma il vento li porterà via tutti quanti, un soffio li torrà via; ma chi spera in me possederà la terra, ed erederà il monte della mia santità.
14 Then it wil be said: Level up, level up, clear the way, remove the obstacle from my people's way,	14 Ed ei si dirà: Rilevate, rilevate le strade, acconciatele; togliete via gl’intoppi dal cammino del mio popolo.
15 for thus says the High and Exalted One who lives eternal y and whose name is holy, 'I live in the holyheights but I am with the contrite and humble, to revive the spirit of the humble, to revive the heart of the contrite.	15 Perciocchè, così ha detto l’Alto, e l’Eccelso, che abita l’eternità, e il cui Nome è il Santo: Io abito in luogo alto, e santo, e col contrito, ed umile di spirito; per vivificar lo spirito degli umili, e per vivificare il cuor de’ contriti.
16 'For I do not want to be forever accusing nor always to be angry, or the spirit would fail under myonslaught, the souls that I myself have made.	16 Conciossiachè io non contenda in perpetuo, e non mi adiri in eterno; perciocchè altrimenti ogni spirito, e le anime che io ho fatte, verrebber meno per la mia presenza
17 'Angered by his wicked cupidity, I hid and struck him in anger, but he rebelliously went the way of hischoice.	17 Io sono stato adirato per l’iniquità della sua cupidigia, e l’ho percosso; io mi son nascosto, e sono stato indegnato; ma pur quel ribello è andato per la via del suo cuore.
18 'I saw how he behaved, but I shal heal him, I shal lead him, fil him with consolation, him and thosewho mourn for him,	18 Io ho vedute le sue vie, e pur lo guarirò, e lo ricondurrò, e restituirò consolazioni a lui, ed a quelli d’infra lui che fanno cordoglio.
19 bringing praise to their lips. Peace, peace to far and near, Yahweh says, and I shall heal him.'	19 Io creo ciò ch’è proferito con le labbra; pace, pace al lontano, ed al vincino, dice il Signore; ed io lo guarirò.
20 The wicked, however, are like the restless sea that cannot be stil , whose waters throw up mud anddirt.	20 Ma gli empi sono come il mare sospinto, il quale non può quietare, e le cui acque cacciano fuori pantano e fango.
21 'No peace', says Yahweh, 'for the wicked.'	21 Non vi è niuna pace per gli empi; ha detto l’Iddio mio
